Daevid Allen and Here & Now - Planet Gong live 1977
(3 gigs)

From the Dave Sez archive:
One of the best incarnations of Gong, here are three gigs from 1977 by Daevid Allen and Here & Now, regulars on the British festival scene. First, there's the 3-CD "Planet Gong Live 1977" bootleg of gigs in Oxford (Daevid Allen's first guest appearance with Here & Now after he left Gong) and Huddersfield. Then, in a web exclusive, there's Daevid Allen's private recording of the Toulouse gig later partially released as the classic "Planet Gong" live album - the recording here features an excellent version of "Addicted", not included on the album. Essential stuff for every Gong fan
(and potbellied pixie).

Fabulous - cheers Dave Sez. I have some live Gong material somewhere and the original Floating Anarchy '77 but not this one, so thanks very much!
ReplyDeleteWell if you ever find that Gong material let us know!!
DeleteYup, pinkie, you won't have the Planet Gong in France, as it's ultra-rare. In the meanwhile, here's the classic live Gong bootleg, live at the Aula der Oberpostdirektion, Bremen, 4 November 1974 in two versions - the full gig (2 CDs, FileFactory) in FLAC, and a shorter (1 CD, turbobit) version @ 320:

Not Planet Gong, but very well worth it!
Cheers, Dave Sez.
Oh and Silent - I'll need to have a look at another hard drive to see what's there...originally it was some stuff from a Here & Now/Planet Gong megapost by Dave Sez...but I've been having trouble opening and using it, which is annoying because there was another thing on there Dave was after (magazine live)...seems it's incompatible with the laptop I have at the mo. Also I lost a load of files, most of which I've managed to retrieve but the info is somewhat jumbled. Nightmare! I'll be getting some help r.e. my tech-ineptitude soon and then all will be revealed hopefully!
ReplyDeleteThem that likes this should hurry over here:

Oh, and this:

This is the famous Full Moon show where Daevid experienced a memorable acid trip on stage.
Cheers, Dave Sez.
Thanks for the Gong in Bremen, always liked Hillage strong and streaming. Here's an album you may not know, a side project he did in 1972: http://rockandrollarchives.net/2015/03/19/khan-space-shanty-1972-england-spacerockpsychedelic-rock/.

I see some familiar names here! Thanks for the post, be nice to have the whole of the Floating Anarchy '77 show. For anyone who doesn't know, Here & Now are still alive and well with a fantastic line-up. Check 'em out here https://www.facebook.com/groups/495500430514/
ReplyDeleteHello again dlz! I can vouch for that too folks. H&N had been a little off my radar for a while until a few summers ago when my Brighton friend Nik Nimbus joined on drums and so I went along to see them here in Btn and again at Keith Tha Bass' birthday bash at Kingston's Fighting Cocks...they did not disappoint! Now they have another very talented drummer (Woody) and are playing fairly regularly, sometimes pulling old numbers out of the bag to the delight of the faithful, 'Surgeon's Knife' being one recent example, and I hear they're writing new material too :)
ReplyDeleteHere we go - Surgeon's Knife 2014:

Or a year earlier...less bottom end in the mix but I think a beautiful, perhaps better-balanced version, and a Keith tha Bass masterclass:
