Among the casualties of Election Night is Mia Love from Utah.
I didn't know she was in trouble.
And over the weekend, it looked like she might have enough votes to snag the victory.
Hopefully we'll see her in 2020.
When Utah voters realize the mistake they made.

Dealing with Democrats
Before the results came in Tuesday, Althouse has an idea what to expect from President Trump.
Our trickster President has plenty of tricks up his sleeve.

Waiting on Wednesday
What will Wednesday bring?
Powerline has an idea.
I still say the worst nightmare for Democrats will be to capture the House by a narrow majority. Their base will demand impeachment and fireworks from oversight hearings. They are likely to be disappointed, and then frustrated and bitter, setting up Trump to cruise to re-election in 2020. You think liberals are miserable and paranoid now!

Don't be shy
Are polls understating the support for Republicans?
Would you answer an unidentified person's questions about your preference?
Nixon had his "silent majority" at a time much like this one. The country was tearing itself apart over Vietnam and Nixon was the target of almost as much liberal vitriol and hate as Trump has been. The reason pollsters may be wrong again this time is that these "shy Trumpers" have been conditioned these last two years to keep their opinions to themselves so they don't get screamed at by their friends and relatives. There is a price to pay when bullies attack you for saying something halfway nice about the president. It's not pleasant.

Find your wave
Don Surber looks at the potential numbers for Tuesday.
The blue wave is real. Democrats could get 10 million to 20 million more votes in Senate races than Republicans do.
But the red wave also is real. At a minimum, they will increase their Senate majority by one.

"I'm one of ya"
So many commercials for the election.
Watching Charlottesville's NBC 29, there's often a commercial for either Denver Riggleman or Leslie Cockburn every break.
She tries to say he's too extreme.
But the ad ends with him telling a crowd, "I'm one of ya."
In one of his commercials, she describes her panel as "elite."
No matter what you say, being one of you feels better than calling yourself elite.
Team common man has more members than team elite.

Flakier than Flake
Democrats thought they had a chance to take Jeff Flake's senate seat in Arizona.
Then people found what she's said about the state.
Wegmann wrote, "Sinema has also had trouble because of old videotape — from after she was elected to Congress — in which she gave speeches demonstrating contempt for Arizona and its residents. In one video, Sinema warned a group of liberal Texans to 'stop your state from becoming Arizona.' In another, she trashed Arizona as 'the meth lab of democracy' to get some laughs at a NetRoots Nation conference."
That's good reporting.

Forget the blue wave
To take control of the Senate, Democrats basically have to draw an inside straight - win all 10 states they currently hold where Donald Trump won in 2016 plus take two Republican seats.
Looking less likely by the day.
Your Democratic leaning Supreme Court justices will have to hang on longer.

Wave the wave goodbye
Democrats keep thinking 2018 will be their year.
The numbers from Reuters tell another story.
Generic ballot polling isn’t so much an electoral predictor, as a mood measure. And the mood in the country is moving in favor of optimism, as reflected in two Gallup surveys released in the last few days.

About that blue wave
Ace highlights the latest CNN poll, showing Republicans catching up with Democrats going into November 2018.
Democrats had had a 15 point advantage in enthusiasm -- 51% of Democrats said in the last poll that they were "very enthusiastic" to vote, to 36% of Republicans. That edge has now declined to 6%-- 50% to 44%.

Guy Benson wrote yesterday that the GOP had some good news in Tuesday's primaries apart from nominating electable candidates -- GOP turnout was up.

Let's get going
The calendar has flipped to 2018.
President Trump and Republicans have a full year to get things done.
Then elections loom in November.
Time to use the spark of tax cuts to get the country going in the right direction.

Rock the Senate
An interesting first poll from Michigan - Kid Rock leading incumbent senator Debbie Stabenow.
Lots of undecideds in this poll.
Lots of proof the Trump effect will be alive and well in 2018.

Stumbling toward 2018
How will Democrats fare in the 2018 elections?
They feel they can ride a wave of anti-Trump sentiment to big wins in the House and Senate.
Maybe.
Maybe not.
There's a lot of people who won't consider Democrats, no matter what Trump does.

Maybe not.
In May, the Public Religion Research Institute released a report, “Beyond Economics: Fears of Cultural Displacement Pushed the White Working Class to Trump.” It found that
“more than half (52%) of white working-class Americans believe discrimination against whites is as big a problem as discrimination against blacks and other minorities” and that “four in ten white working-class Americans agree” with the statement that “efforts to increase diversity almost always come at the expense of whites.”There's a lot of people who won't consider Democrats, no matter what Trump does.
