Stitching time

Image
The first week of the year is over and I am happy to report that I have managed some "stitching time" 5 times this week. I am counting the stitching time rather loosely by including pattern printing and cutting into the mix. The first 3 days I managed some stiching on my Grimm Along cross-stitch, 3 nights in a row. Not massive progress but some progress indeed! I finished a long-standing bag UFO one evening (blog post to come soon) And today I spent some time printing and cutting a pattern. I also selected a backing fabric for a mini quilt that I started quilting tonight. I also spent a full evening decluterring and tidying my sewing corner which was much needed and felt so good! For a better definition of my goal, for next week, I will aim to spend 4 times 15 minutes in my sewing room doing anything sewing/stitching related. Linking to Life in Pieces Céline

30 days of the 100-day Challenge

Image
A month has passed already since I joined Jen  for the 100 day challenge and decided to focus on 3 projects to progress (hmmm.....) The 3 projects I selected were: 1. Hello Kitty quilt for my niece - squares all cut - no pogress at all on this one... 2. Farmer's Wife blocks - I had 30 blocks already and was planning to make 30 more by April. Well I am happy to report that I have made 15 bocks so far! 3. Project 48 -   I had 17 blocks already and I was planning to finish all 48 blocks by April,. I made 5 more, still a lot to do! But of course, I have diverted my attention and worked on a lot of other projects too. Good time to refocus I guess! Linking to  100 days project check in Celine

Work in progress and a giveaway

Image
I have been doing a lot of chain piecing at the sewing machine lately to make various blocks for bees, swaps etc. I like to cut all my fabric at once so it is all ready by the machine for the piecing and then I'll sew as much as I can to have a big stack to take to the ironing board. I find it works well for me and save me time. I read a while ago about leaders and enders on Bonnie Hunter site Quiltville and try to have some available as much as possible. My leaders and enders at the moment are my tiny squares for my postage stamp Super Mario block. I have a fat Yoshi, ready to be "Squared up" hopefully by the end of the week and half a fat jumping Mario. I will be linking this to WIP Wednesday over at Freshly Pieced Now for the giveaway, I have a spare copy of Popular Patchwork Magazine for September to give away. Just leave me a comment telling me how you like to work on your projects. Do you take it one step at a time or do you try to cut all, sew all etc...

Friday Night Sew-In (poor) results

Image
Although the kids were in bed relatively early last night, I didn't do much sewing. I started by writing my post for the Blogger Quilt Festival (thanks to all the visitors!) which took a bit of time and then when I went over to Amy's blog to link mine there, I was so tempted to go and browse around the festival so I spent a fair amount of time blog hopping... When I finally turned the computer off, I did little sewing, only framed my leaf and caterpillar but I did some cutting and planning for my Hungry Caterpillar quilt. I now know what I want to do, just needs doing now... See you soon. Celine

What am I working on?

Image
Well, maybe to complete my presentation I should give you an insight in my on-going projects as there are a few. I like to keep busy but am not sure I can always keep up though. Lately I finished the little trapunto quilt below for the May challenge on BQL I also took part to two classes from quiltuniversity which offers online classes, great when you are somehow house-bound for a little while. I signed up for Colour Companions by Carol Miller and made 4 blocks (out of 5) so far. The last lesson was on 8 May so I am running a little behind... The first block I made was a monochromatic block with violet as my chosen colour: For the second block, we played with complementarity, so the colours in my block were violet and yellow: The third block was a play on slit complementarity, I used violet, red-violet, blue-violet and yellow in my block: And the last block I have made so far is using an analogous scheme with violet, red-violet and blue-violet fabrics: I still have the last block to...
