So AWE are releasing the Thai horror film CROCODILE, yes?
Noooo, they're just using THE POSTER from the Thai film for their release of the Italian film KILLER CROCODILE!!! Hahaha.
Fabrizio De Angelis, Italy, 1989
Incidentally I own the Thai DVD of KILLER CROCODILE 1 & 2. :D
But regardless, you should check out BOTH films! And needless to say big kudos to AWE for this release! There are many VHS and DVD releases of the Thai film. I've got the German DVD and Thai VCD, and I'm told the best version is the German DVD (the German DVD title is "Der Horror-Alligator - Das letzte Kapitel" and it's available from Amazon.de. You can check the AWE disc here).
PS: I called CROCODILE a Thai film but it's actually a co-production between Thailand, Korea, Japan, Hong Kong, and the USA. There are several edits of the film.

So you're happy with your *uncut* DVD release of BURIAL GROUND, eh?
LE NOTTI DEL TERRORE (Andrea Bianchi, Italy, 1981)
aka The Nights of Terror / Zombie - nattens terror / Zombie 3
Well, that's nice. I'm so happy for you. Keep living in your little fantasy world of fairies, goblins and imaginary superior dvd releases. Hahaha.
The scan here is the Japanese VHS (which Yours Truly won on eBay last night!) and it's the ONLY uncut version of the film! No, your new disc from AWE/Njuta Films isn't uncut either! The missing footage practically renders the film's story-line incomprehensible without it! Watching the uncut version is apparently like watching a completely different movie! So what's this most important missing footage you ask; Well, I'll tell ya what it is, it's a most important four second head crush scene, that's what!!! O_O
Why would they cut out a head crush scene from a gory zombie movie? I have no idea! Very weird indeed but the matter of the fact is that this scene is supposedly missing from all VHS and DVD versions except for the Japanese VHS. Obviously, I haven't watched each and every version myself (only the Danish and the Aussie DVDs) but I've asked BURIAL GROUND fanatic Joachim Andersson (we're talking Jim Jones cult level fanaticism here!) and other hardcore fans and they all confirm that the Japanese tape is the only truly uncut version. It's also mentioned on the IMDb (but of course that's not a guarantee of anything as the bloody IMDb is a piece of shit when it comes to reliable info in my opinion). Anyhoo, I'll be getting this awesome Japanese tape soon so that's just AB FAB. I'm sure you're green with envy, eh. xD
Nb: Altho the Japanese video title is "Zombie 3" the movie shouldn't be confused with Lucio Fulci/Bruno Mattei's ZOMBI 3.

AWE goes WORLDWEIRD to release THE LIVING CORPSE and HELL'S GROUND this summer!
Gee, wauw!!! Another World Entertainment (AWE) are planning to release Khwaja Sarfaraz' ZINDA LAASH aka The Living Corpse (1967) and Omar Khan's Mondo Macabro produced ZIBAHKHANA aka Hell's Ground (2007) in June!!!
Four thumbs up from this here blogger!!!
It seems AWE are going to retitle THE LIVING CORPSE to Dracula in Pakistan, probably in order to make it sound more exotic - which is fine by me. Hell, they can call it "Pakistani-Dracula is a horny old geezer" for all I care. The main thing is they're putting this important and highly entertaining early Lollywood horror film on DVD.
Did I hear you say "important"? Why yes you did! ZINDA LAASH/The Living Corpse/Dracula in Pakistan is important as it's the first movie from Pakistan to ever receive an X rating! The movie was even banned when it was originally released! And then it was almost lost for good. The print that survived was literally found by Omar Khan on top of a trash can in an flooded basement!!! Mondo Macabro and The Hot Spot (Omar Khan and his brother's company) restored the print and it was released on DVD from Mondo Macabro in 2003. I certainly hope AWE enclose Omar Khan & Pete Tomb's commentary track!
HELL'S GROUND, the second film on AWE's upcoming DVD, was actually directed by Omar Khan! It's from 2007 and it's a Pakistani zombie movie! Yay!! Mondo Macabro co-produced it but didn't release it, it's out on Danger After Dark in the US. THE LIVING CORPSE/HELL'S GROUND DVD is also scheduled for release by Njuta Films in Sweden.
I must admit I'm slightly baffled as to why THE LIVING CORPSE is the bonus film on the disc... o_O ...as it is the better film of the two! I recommend that you read Omar Khan's review of THE LIVING CORPSE on his The Hot Spot review site. By the way, if you have any interest in Bollywood or Lollywood* films The Hot Spot is an awesome site for info!
*Lollywood is the Pakistani equivalent of Bollywood.
HELL'S GROUND is indeed a fun movie, and it's interesting (and cool) because of its origin (i.e. being Pakistani) but THE LIVING CORPSE is head and shoulders better; Its allure goes way beyond being interesting just for the sake of its unusual background. It is a very good adaptation of the Dracula story on its own terms and I highly recommend it! Trust me, I'm a professional and I know what I'm talking bout. Now, smell my finger.
From Mondo Macabro's website:
In the 1960's, even Pakistan was swinging!
To prove it, here's this amazing version of the Dracula story from 1967. So hot it was banned on its original release.
The only Pakistani film ever to be rated "X" in its country of origin, this sizzling little gem is also the first Dracula film to include the shocking "baby stealing" scene.
This first ever official video release, taken from the only surviving negative, includes a host of exclusive extras.
Zinda Laash - The Living Corpse - is a film so rare that even the most exhaustive studies of vampire films don't mention it. Although the film caused a sensation on its release back in the 1960's, it was banned and all but forgotten...until now!
An absolutely essential purchase for vampire film afficionados...for horror film fans...and for anyone who likes their horror hot and spicy.

Four Flies on Grey Velvet on dvd from AWE
Whoah, big piece of news there! AWE will be releasing Argento's FOUR FLIES ON GREY VELVET (which ran in the Danish cinemas as Fire Fluer) in the second part of this year.
Very cool! Good on ya, AWE!! The big question is of course: Where did they buy the rights from? Dario Argento (who owns the world rights for outside the US) or MYR who released the reg. 1 bootleg (yes, it's a bootleg). I certainly hope they're getting it from Dario who would be able to provide them with an uncut print. The MYR disc is missing 40 seconds and reportedly has problems with the various dubs. I hate buying cut prints so I haven't even bought the MYR disc (I have the German boot).
Rated PG!!!??? O_O

Old-skool Ironmaster
Cover for the new Scandinavian DVD release of "2019 After the Fall of New York"
The other day I mentioned some very exiting upcoming AWE and Njuta Films releases, and here's finally the cover for 2019 AFTER THE FALL OF NEW YORK (Njuta edition) that I didn't have the other day! Very cool! Well, very cool that I have it that is. The cover on the other hand completely blows ass if you ask me!! What the hell is wrong with the back of that cover!? What is that???
But then again the back of the old Danish/Swedish VHS also looks like it was done by a blind dude on crack so maybe it's out of nostalgic reasons the new one sucks ass too, haha.
The Njuta release is set for February 9. I have no info on the AWE version. I also have the release dates for a couple of the other titles:
HANDS OF STEEL - February 15 (AWE) / February 2 (Njuta)
BLASTFIGHTER - March ??? (AWE) / February 23 (Njuta)
I wrote to AWE a couple of days ago and asked about the cropping issues that the German DVD release of BLASTFIGHTER has and whether the Scandinavian version will be void of this nonsense but so far no reply. I'm crossing my fingers we're gonna get a proper version this time.

Some highly welcome upcoming DVD releases from AWE
... and Njuta Films.
I've mentioned these titles before as they were announced for release from Njuta Films in Sweden quite a while ago. I speculated whether they were gonna be released from Another World Entertainment (AWE) in Denmark as well (as AWE are uber slow at revealing their new stuff!) but we've finally got word that HANDS OF STEEL, IRONMASTER, BLASTFIGHTER, and 2019: AFTER THE FALL OF NEW YORK are also being released from AWE in the coming months. And also, AWE have just announced they're putting out Franco Prosperi's WILD BEASTS in March! The film is already out on DVD in the Czech Republic but that DVD only carries a French (and Czech) dub. Hopefully the new AWE disc is gonna carry the English dub. And lastly, I'm 99% convinced AWE are also going to release Joe D'Amato's PORNO HOLOCAUST as the Njuta Films release carries Danish subtitles along with the Swedish ones.
AWE and Njuta release many films but these are especially exciting as they're films that either aren't released on DVD at all or they don't exist in English friendly or uncut versions.
The back of the cover sports a spiffy quotation from our good buddy Fred Anderson: "One of thee best action flicks of the 80s"

Very exciting new Scandinavian DVD releases!!!
Njuta Films in Sweden have announced they're releasing Sergio Martino's post-apocalypse HANDS OF STEEL (aka Queruak) and Umberto Lenzi's IRONMASTER on DVD within the next 6 months! Very exceiting news there! Neither of the two have been released on DVD before*.
The announcement comes from Njuta Films' own homepage so there's no speculation on my part. However, I will speculate in their also being release by Njuta Films' sister label in Denmark/Norway, Another World Entertainment. Also, Njuta Films are also releaseing Bruno Mattei's SS GIRLS, Sergio Martino's 2019: AFTER THE FALL OF NEW YORK, and Joe D'Amato's PORNO HOLOCAUST. I'm confident we'll see them all from AWE also. Check more upcoming titles from Njuta Films here (Release inom ett halvår = Upcoming releases within the next 6 months).
*I really do not count reg. 1 public domain bootlegs sourced from video tapes as "releases"! .\_/.

Savage Streets from AWE in June!
I've just noticed AWE are going to release the restored version of SAVAGE STREETS in June! The reg. 1 DVD from BCI (aka the old Brentwood label) came and went and has been OOP for quite a while now. On Amazon new copies are around 110 dollars at the moment!!! Great news indeed!!! And FOR ONCE it seems AWE are actually giving us a bit of extra stuff: I did a 7 sec. comparison and I believe all the extras from the reg. 1 disc are included!
