Decor: Feather Wall

This perfectly styled feathered wall belongs to Hannah Ferrara of Another Feather (featured here as well). What a collection! You can see more pictures of her gorgeous studio over Imogene + Willie's blog. Also, how pretty is this necklace designed by Another Feather for i+w?

Decor: Snug Vase

These geometric vases by German based Snug Studio are actually cardboard folded to create vessels. They're available in two heights- low and high ($17) and three colors- grey, copper, and white. Simply construct the vase and place over a small glass or bottle, and they're ready to. Clever design, no? You can shop the entire collection here or here.
Oh, and I blogged about Snug's jewelry back in 2011. I still want one of those wood necklaces. Two years later.

Art + Decor: Emily Rickard

Abstract pillows + art prints by Emily Rickard. Original paintings are for sale here
I first ran across Emily's work by perusing toss pillows on Society 6 (talk about a time suck) and I was struck by how well her work translates from print to pillow. The abstract shapes and bold color are fun and energizing and I can't decide if I'd like her work on my wall or my sofa and that's a conundrum I've yet to encounter. To make matters even more complicated, I'm also digging this iPhone case for a bit of color on the go. Darn you Society 6 for giving me too many options. Check out more of Emily's work here

Decor: Flat Life

These clever, cheeky designs by Finn Magee bring a whole new meaning to the idea of functional art, don't you think? The Flat Life Light and Flat Life Clock are both available for purchase at the Future Perfect ($150). If you like these, you'll also like the latest installment in the series, Flat Noise

Trivets by Fort Standard

I started noticing the trivets people use during this holiday season as I attended many a food based gathering. Random, I know, but true. Trivets are functional, of course, but rarely have I seen one that I like and thought, "I MUST have that trivet." Until now. These stone and leather trivets by Fort Standard are trivet perfection.  They're available in the Fort Standard shop and at The Future Perfect ($80). I'm pretty sure trivets fall under the category of items you want to buy once and not have to buy again, right? I'd be willing to make the commitment with a couple of these. Oh, and if you're looking for another beautiful, functional kitchen tool, might I suggest these Fort Standard bottle openers?

Interiors: A portrait above the bed

Currently, we have this set of DIY fabric pieces above our bed (made in 2009, they've moved around quite a bit) and I think it's time to change things up. I like the idea of a simple portrait above the bed. It's simple yet unexpected, don't you think?

Need more portrait inspiration? Here's another roundup featuring classic portraits as decor. Have a great weekend!

I am loving these new handwoven rugs ($126) by Proud Mary. This socially conscious textile company partners (also featured here) with artisans around the world, in this case Guatemala, to create gorgeous, one of a kind accessories and decor. The new Guatemala line is available for pre-order now. I'll take one of each, please.

Art + Decor: Illustrated Ice Cream

Who doesn't love a good ice cream cone, especially during the summer? This ice cream giclee print ($55) and pillowcases ($75) by Dawn Tan for her shop Handmadelove are perfect for a little dose of summer all year round. I think the pillowcases would be especially sweet in a guest bedroom as a little treat for friends and family. Or perhaps a meaty pillowcase is more your style?

If you like illustrated foods, here are some of my favorite summer foods on paper.

Wishlist 8.2.12

1// mid-century nightstand $249 2// dip-dye pillows $34
Both of the items on my wish list today are items we lost in our recent fire - a nightstand and toss pillows. B and I both really like the nightstand but I'm having a hard time narrowing down toss pillows for our little couch. These dip-dyed options are definitely a strong contender but I also really like this option and this option. My goal is to buy some toss pillows this year. Surely it can't be that hard to make a decision?!

Decor: Floral and Striped Pillows

I'm in the market to replace the toss pillows we recently lost and I think I might go with a floral and stripe combination. These limited edition handprinted pillows ($48) available at Unison include a feather down insert which is great if you're lazy like me and don't want to buy one separately. I think the bold, abstract floral would please me and the nautical stripe would please both me and B. It's a win-win (or a double win for me if we're keeping score).

the coral striped pillow is sold out but you can find more color options here

Decor: Pastel Kitchen Accessories

marimekko ruusu napkins $6.95 via crate and barrel; alabasta decor tray $48 via huset; origami lampshade $116 by studio snowpuppe; lines A3 print $36 by seventy tree
hawaiian triangles tea towel $25 via leif; pastel mix set superior servers $152 by ladies  & gentleman
a real hoot canister $68 via anthro; cook this pad $6.50 via knock knock
pastel dipped teaspoon set $24 via leif; mano storage jars ($59.95-$89.95) via horne
Admittedly, the kitchen is B's domain in our house and you'll never hear me complain about that because he cooks every day (yes, I'm lucky like that). But, I do have a penchant for pastels as evidenced by our paint colors and I think the kitchen is an easy place to incorporate a sweet, lively color palette. My favorite items are the storage jars and the cheeky winking owl. I think I might even stand a chance of talking B into liking that owl. What do you think about pastels in the kitchen? Yay or nay?

Scarf Bunting

How is your weekend going? I'm having a lazy Sunday and thought I'd pop in with a quick DIY idea. I love the look of these scarves tied up and hung as bunting. It's so easy I have to wonder, why didn't I think of that? Here are another couple of ideas in case you have a drawer full of vintage scarves that you'd prefer to display.

Today...

Love this wall hanging ($89.95 AUD) and pillow cover ($65 AUD) by White Horse Home. I don't know about you, but I could use a reminder that today is a good day, even if it is Monday!

Decor: Cross-stitched anchor

How awesome is this large cross-stitched anchor ($160) by Jessica Decker? As much as I love mini versions of just about anything, I also like giant replicas as decor...remember the giant key? I have to admit though, I'm a little obsessed with anchors right now.
Full disclosure - I'm actually thinking about getting a new anchor tattoo on my left arm so perhaps I'm a little partial to the image. The oversized cross-stitch is just the icing on the cake.
