Summer Color: White

1// shoes $80 2// dress $72 3// wallet $78 4// tank $78 5// necklace $72 6// espadrilles $28 7// shorts $54.50 (sale) 8// belt $42.50 9// jeans $120 10// ring $94

Easy, breezy, way-to-stay-cool summer whites. I'm shy about wearing white thanks to my two dogs and their dirty paws (not to mention my propensity to be a messy eater, especially when wearing white) but if you can manage to keep it clean, what's better than a white sundress on a hot summer day?

Other summer colors I'm loving this year: ruby red grapefruit and spearmint.

Summer Color: Spearmint

1// earrings $118 2// triangle dress $39.99 3// bralette $15  4// clutch $75 5// tank $68 6// backpack $42 7// ring $40 8// blouse $49.99 (on sale) 9// sandals $54 10// shades $18

Spearmint? I don't know. This color is a bit darker than mint, not as soft as sea foam but not as dark as jade. Spearmint sounded much better than "another shade of green" so there you go. Whatever you call it, but I'm loving this shade for summer. And do you know what color this green pairs so well with? Ruby Red grapefruit. Oh yeah.

Interiors: Bits of Ochre (Part II)

Ok, I just can't help myself. After posting some ochre interiors last month, I kept running into more examples so I present to you part two featuring this lovely color. I also didn't realize until now, but the chair we're thinking about splurging on is also ochre, so maybe it's a sign that I should just bite the bullet and get it? Yes, that must be it.

Interiors: Red, White and Blue

Happy 4th of July! If you're not celebrating the holiday, perhaps you'll enjoy these (mostly) red, white and blue interiors regardless? And if you are celebrating today, I hope you're enjoying the day off and are taking some time to relax and celebrate. As for me, this is a great excuse to be as lazy as possible and since this post is the first productive thing I've done all day, I'd say I'm doing a pretty good job of it.

Decor: Pastel Kitchen Accessories

marimekko ruusu napkins $6.95 via crate and barrel; alabasta decor tray $48 via huset; origami lampshade $116 by studio snowpuppe; lines A3 print $36 by seventy tree
hawaiian triangles tea towel $25 via leif; pastel mix set superior servers $152 by ladies  & gentleman
a real hoot canister $68 via anthro; cook this pad $6.50 via knock knock
pastel dipped teaspoon set $24 via leif; mano storage jars ($59.95-$89.95) via horne
Admittedly, the kitchen is B's domain in our house and you'll never hear me complain about that because he cooks every day (yes, I'm lucky like that). But, I do have a penchant for pastels as evidenced by our paint colors and I think the kitchen is an easy place to incorporate a sweet, lively color palette. My favorite items are the storage jars and the cheeky winking owl. I think I might even stand a chance of talking B into liking that owl. What do you think about pastels in the kitchen? Yay or nay?

Interiors: Black and White

Of all the interior round ups I've posted, I realized I've managed to neglect featuring simple black and white. This is probably because I adore color and could never see myself using only black and white in a space (perhaps with lots of wood accents...maybe). After posting this kitchen though, I've been finding myself admiring the restraint it must take to edit down to these two basic colors. My favorite space is, hands down, the first bedroom. Look at all that light! What about you? See a space you like?

Two Spaces (Pale Blue)

Pale blue is such versatile color for the walls (I loved working with it in this room). Here are two recent favorite examples of just how versatile this lovely color can be. Love the rustic/eclectic charm.

Interiors: A Black Kitchen (and it's awesome)

Ok, so admittedly the kitchen may not be black but rather a very dark navy blue but I'm having to make an educated guess here so go with it. I've never seen a kitchen this dark that I've actually liked but the retro touches help make the space less serious and more approachable. And how about that porcelain cat? Perfectly kitsch and so realistic it's almost creepy. Check out the rest of the home here (the bedroom is all kinds of interesting).

Two Grey Bedrooms

elle decoration via happy mundane
design*sponge at home via desire to inspire
The last grey we had in our last home (in the living room) was less than impressive but that doesn't mean I've given up on grey. The previous grey we chose was too flat and too light to make much of an impression. For that reason, I shied away from using grey in our current paint palette.
I really like the grey walls in these two bedrooms along with their fun red bed spreads. I will definitely try grey again, in another home and most likely in the bedroom with lots of white trim and plenty of stripes on the bed. Have you used grey in your home? What was your experience?

Interiors: Ochre + Purple

Golden ochre and pretty purple, an interesting combination, isn't it? The tendency is to mix ochre with plum to create a rich, warm palette, but I also like the combination of ochre and lilac in the second example. It's fresh, unexpected, playful and fun.
What do you think about this color combo? Something you'd be willing to try?

Real Bedrooms in Coral and Aqua

Room 1 (see full space here)
Room 2 (see full space here)
I ran across these two bedrooms recently, both real homes (as opposed to styled for a magazine, if you know what I mean) that share a similar color palette. The second bedroom's blue wall color looks similar to ours and although we tend towards yellow accents, I'm thinking a splash of coral would be a nice change. These are both incredibly creative spaces don't you think?

What better on a Monday morning than some bright, cheerful color inspiration? I'm loving these bold spaces with their bright hues and daring color combinations. I need a bathroom just like the first space to wake me up every morning! The tile alone makes me want to dance. Happy Monday :)
