A Chalkboard Pumpkin…in Blue?

f4a82 clsup

It’s been a hectic week what with the garden and tomatoes up to my eyeballs… seriously…lol. I made some yummy spaghetti sauce and canned 7 quarts! I’m sure next week I’ll be putting up more!

Then I’ll be at the Wool Gathering tomorrow, spinning and sharing the llamas. If you’re in the area, come visit!! I know a couple of my stamping pals are going to stop by.

So…. I had to take a break from “Martha Stewart’ing” and do some of the challenges on Splitcoast from this week. The Sketch, Ways To Use It, and Free For All. The WT for the entire month of Sept. is “back to school” theme. This week is “chalkboard”. You can find a tutorial here. What you’re doing is stamping on dark cardstock with white ink, then coloring with chalks. I tweaked the technique a bit by also coloring with Prismacolor pencils, blending with baby oil.

F4A82 Blue Chalkboard Pumpkin

The F4A challenge is Mostly Blue.

I used the new Pumpkin stamp and matching Pumpkin Die by Our Daily Bread designs. I stamped it on blue cardstock with Adriondack Snow Cap, colored it with Pebbles chalks then added the pencil.

But…I added dimension too, by using my stylus.

f4a82 1

With the Pumpkin on foam, I used my stylus to define the lines. Then I flipped it over and using a larger stylus, went over the image between the lines.

Totally changes the look from a flat, dull image to one that looks almost real!

So, I was using my new Bo Bunny Welcome Home DP and hated to cover up the cool picket fence on the one piece….

f4a82 5

No problem! I just added my Vintage Picket Fence from Cheery Lynn Designs! And I love my Fanciful Flourish, also from CLD, and since the challenge was to use a lot of blue… I used the scrap pieces!

We have a special guest today too… none other than the designer of one of the new sets, Serve The Lord, Dina!!

The Hop will run from 8am EDT June 1 until 8pm EDT. June 2. The winners will be announced on the ODBD Blog on June 3.

Prizes for this hop will be Three Free Sets of Choice, and one Grand Prize of the Bread Basket Bundle!

Here is what you need to do to be entered in the drawing:

Leave comments for each designer on each blog.
Return to the ODBD Blog and leave a comment, telling us you completed the hop and noting any blogs you were unable to comment on.
Answer the question on the ODBD blog

Now, here’s my project.

When I saw this release, so much of it screamed one of our DT members, Randi, to me! She’s such a motivator, cheerleader and ODBD ambassador at shows!  I had this idea of something really special this time around, so I started searching the resources on Splitcoast and found this Scrapbook Wallet… perfect! I used every single set and single from this release.Surprised smile

SW Front

Here is the entire “wallet” folded up and closed. The paper tole flower is Dahlia, from the Garden Collection, stamped/embossed  3 times on regular cardstock and watercolored with Ranger Adirondack reinkers. I cut around the petals, cutting into some of them for a more realistic look, then spritzed with water, crumpled tightly into a ball and carefully un-crumpled. These I let air dry then adhered together with Zip Dry glue, added Flower Soft to the center and built my floral spray.

I used Spellbinders Foliage and Martha Stewart’s Branch punch on Prism cardstock. The entire front flap was given a generous amount of Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer Mist. All the pages are Prism cardstock with Basic Grey Sweet Threads.

SW half

To secure the top and bottom flaps, I used sticky hook/loop squares.

As it opens and starts to unfold… Five pages to open, each side has a layout, and one final layout in the middle… that’s 11 different pages!! Whew! But really, once I got the basics of the wallet itself, it went together pretty fast. (HINT.. make a mock one first to see where the pages go, then when you do the REAL thing, stamp and embellish BEFORE putting it together! I think it’d be much easier!)

SW BLK 1

Dahlia, Kind Hearts, Serve The Lord, Time, Crocheted Background and matching dies… awesome stamps! You should be able to right click on the collage or any other picture and bring it up in another window for better viewing.

Spellbinders used: ODBD Elegant Ovals, Labels 16/18, Lacy Ovals, Fleur de Lis Squares/Motifs/Rectangles, Sprightly Spockets, Fancy Tags II/III, Foliage…all cut on my Grand Calibur

Now it’s time to hop over to

Fun Time at the Expo…and a Sneak Peek!

KellRegister

It was a busy two days and lots of fun!
I can’t even begin to count how many times someone said,
Your booth is just beautiful!” or “You have the most gorgeous cards on display!”.

What can I say… we have an AWESOME design team!

KellDemo

Kelley demo’d how to use our Custom Dies. Oh, wait till you see what’s coming April 1st!!

DawnMNT

I demo’d Flower Soft which is always a big hit! We figured we did about 125 FREE Make & Takes. Kelley is so generous, most if not all the other MNT’s were $3-$5! People were flabbergasted when they’d ask how much and I’d tell them, free!

RickKell

Be sure to check the list of shows to see if there is one coming to your area!

TLC318 MooseEdge

This is Father’s Day which will be released April 1. What a cool masculine set!

tlc318 clsup

I stamped it on Kraft and colored with Prismacolor pencils blended with baby oil. I also added some Flower Soft, some white gel pen and some fine tip pens in several colors. The DP is Prima Moulin Rouge.

Butterflies, Rainbows and Hoarfrost

ScallopButterfly Faith clsup

An odd combination for sure! LOL!

Yesterday I awoke to another beautiful Hoarfrost that lasted well into the afternoon! I hadn’t gone out and taken any pictures because, frankly, it was just plain COLD! But then Jared called on his way home and said, “Mom! have you gotten any shots of this?!” So….out we went!

These were taken about 2:30pm.
I had some fun with Photoshop too.
Enjoy!

clicking on each picture will bring it up larger

It’s not often Jared lets or even wants me to take pictures of him, so I jumped at the chance! Seriously…we didn’t even do Senior pics! He didn’t care. Surprised smile

He was really into “Finger Lakes” by Tommy Emanuel in every single picture! It was cool (no pun intended… cause it was COLD!) out in the complete stillness and just the sound of his guitar! I did finally get him to smile.

NOW, the butterflies and rainbows will make sense.Winking smile

Today on Splitcoast, the Ways To Use It challenge is rainbows. Here’s my card.

ScallopButterfly Faith

I used an A7 size Fancy Frame Window Scallop from Creative Cuts and More. Everything comes pre-cut and scored and Terry has a huge selection of cardstock colors and textures!

The stamps are this month’s release from Our Daily Bread designs, Single Butterfly and Die, and Faith. I stamped the butterfly bg several times over the card front to cover. I used Prismacolor pencils, blending them with baby oil. The single butterfly is popped up on dimensionals over the punched Martha Stewart foliage.

This will be my last post for a few days as I’m heading out to CHA in the morning!AirplaneOpen-mouthed smileHopefully I’ll have lots to share when I return!

Sassy New Year! #44 It’s Blue!

Hope everyone had a wonderful
Christmas and New Years!
We’re back and Sassy as ever!! LOL

Jan4 Blue Small Talk blk

Our first Sassy challenge of the year
comes from Ann, the Color Blue.

I chose Small Talk and printed it on Kraft then colored with Prismacolor pencils blended with baby oil. I love pencil on Kraft!

Jan4 Blue Small Talk

If they’re like my birds here, they’re telling him the birdfeeders are empty!

I went around the edge of my Spellbinders Curved Rectangle with my Elmer’s Painter pen, but it didn’t play nicely with the baby oil I think Confused smile. A little white gel pen on the trees and birdhouses for snow and some Stickles here and there for some shimmer.

Nov23 blk

Our Sassy Challenge is Thankful

probably too many to list in a blog post!

Join us this week. Just make sure you use an image from Sassy Cheryl's, post to your blog (or online gallery at PCP, SNR, SCS, etc), then link that post back here using Mr. Linky.

FIRST-SNOW-PLATTERIn addition to our regular $5 gift certificate, Cheryl is offering some of her darling licensed ceramic pieces as special gifts over the next several weeks.

Isn’t it CUTE!!

I called this one “Thankful For You”.

Nov23 Thankful for You

This is Simple Prayer, isn’t she sweet! I love that quote by Eleanor Roosevelt…perfect with the digi and our challenge! She’s colored with Prismacolor pencils blended with baby oil and paper pieced with DCWV Amber Autumn.

Nov23 side

I made the teeny ribbon strips out of a scrap of paper, colored with a Copic and tied a teensy bow! The quote is hanging from a “faux” brad. Three layers of scrap cs glued together and colored with a black marker, punched with my Cropadile…then just a little white gel pen.
