Teaming up With The Greeting Farm!

CuddlyThanks-blk

Hi and welcome to the CardMaker Blog team and The Greeting Farm blog hop! You should have arrived here from Lisa’s blog, but no fear if you just happened along…the entire hop list is on the CardMaker post. Be sure to read all the way to end of my post for info on a fantastic give-away!

Here are the 2 sets I chose for my post today, so versatile!

CuddlyThanksWM

I stamped the fox, masked it and stamped the stump. I colored the images with Copics and a white paint marker. I used my MISTI and overstamped the images again to make them pop. I masked the images then air-brushed the background. I also added a little white acrylic paint with my finger for some puffy clouds.
With fine tip markers, I sketched in some grass and flowers.

CuddlyThanks-ssdjpg

My second sample is one for a quick, “I need a card NOW” type card. LOL

Hello&Smile

I masked off where the embossing folder would be, and sponged with inks, then embossed with the folder.

Now it’s time to hop along to Pamela’s blog.

Don’t forget to stop by The Greeting Farm’s blog, they’ll be giving away a $50 gift certificate!!

Looking Back at September…ODBD

UnderTheSea-blk

We’re taking a look back at the Sept. 1st release from Our Daily Bread designs!

ODBD - Sets

UnderTheSeaWM

For this card, I started by stamping the image from Under the Sea in Memento Tuxedo Black, coloring with Copics. Then, using my MISTI, I over stamped with Ranger Jet Black which makes it POP!

I used Matting Circles to cut it out of the base, then Sunburst Background  on the base. I put the circle back in place, masked the dolphins and air brushed the “sky”.

I removed the image to add my “waves” made from coloring white cardstock with a copic and DTP distress ink, Leafy Edged Borders, and my finger with white acrylic paint!

UnderTheSea-clsup

Then tucked the image (on a mat from Circle Ornaments) in between the waves, cutting around the tail and a fin to hang over.

Sunburst and Clouds…tutorial

North Coast Creations, Our Daily Bread designs, Copics, Air Brush System

I get asked a lot how I do my clouds, so this time while making this card I took pictures along the process! I use my air brush system, but it could easily be done sponging with inks too!

Here is the card I did for the Sketch Challenge on Splitcoast today.

North Coast Creations, Our Daily Bread designs, Copics, Air Brush System

This is using North Coast Creations, Deer Silhouette Greetings, Our Daily Bread designs Sunburst Background die and Clouds and Raindrops die.

And here is the process….

North Coast Creations, Our Daily Bread designs, Copics, Air Brush System

I started by using my MISTI and stamping the images and sentiment.

North Coast Creations, Our Daily Bread designs, Copics, Air Brush System

Then I positioned the Sunburst Background and lightly traced where the sun is.

North Coast Creations, Our Daily Bread designs, Copics, Air Brush System

I gave a few quick shots with yellow for the sun and a few rays.

North Coast Creations, Our Daily Bread designs, Copics, Air Brush System

Then I started adding the clouds using the actual die cut clouds as a stencil. It helps to use something thin such as a stylus to help hold the clouds or they’ll blow away! Quick bursts from the air brush rather than steady air will give you a nice variation of color and intensity.

North Coast Creations, Our Daily Bread designs, Copics, Air Brush System

Even just a couple of clouds looks kind of cool!

These are the colors I used. I actually SHOULD have started with the lightest and worked to darkest…. but I wasn’t thinking and grabbed that B18 first! LOL

You even end up with pretty colored clouds!

To just partially get the sunburst cut and embossed, I only ran it part way through my Cuttlebug.

To carry on the edges, I put the piece back in the die, turned it upside-down and using my stylus, rubbed the edges.

So, there you have it! Easy peasy! And like I said, it could easily be done sponging off the edges of the clouds too, just make sure your inks are compatible.  I used Ranger Archival Jet Black which is a nice strong black but doesn’t play nice with Ranger Distress inks which I would use to sponge clouds, but I think regular dye inks would be okay.

I hope I’ve gotten your creative juices flowing and you’re ready to try some beautiful skies!! I really is the limit when playing this way!

I also have some other cloud tutorials up in the “tutorial” section.

They always turn out different!

Have FUN!!

Fields of Wildflowers…ODBD February Release

I love to see wildflowers in the fields and ditches, although in my neck of the woods we won’t see that for quite a while! One reason I’m excited about this release, I can see wildflowers any time even while it’s snowing outside (like today!)!

Welcome to the February release from Our Daily Bread designs! I just know you’re going to love this month as much as I do, so grab a cup of whatever suits your fancy, sit back and enjoy what the Breadsticks have for you today!

Prize Information: - Three randomly selected winners will each receive a $25 gift certificate to the ODBD Store, to be used toward the purchase of ODBD Stamps found in the "stamps column" of the website just for commenting on the Design Team cards! You have until February 2, 2015 at 9:00 p.m. EST to leave your comments on the Designers Blogs for a chance to win!  The Winners will be posted on the
ODBD Blog on February 3rd, so be sure to check back there
to see if you won!

All the information can also be found on the ODBD blog.

Let me show you what I used for my samples today

I just love silhouettes and one of the first things that came to mind was air brushing  and a bird perched amongst the flowers!

I stamped and masked He Watches Me (masking the Sparrow and Thistle flower only), then stamped Wildflower Silhouette Background. Using a Copic, I colored in the other thistle flowers to blend into the background.

Using a homemade sun and cloud template, I air brushed the background with Copics (masking the sun before doing the clouds).  Then, removing the masks, I colored the Sparrow and flower.

I chose cardstock colors close to the sky for the Happy Birthday die, cutting two for a shadow effect.

I can see this die being used a LOT!!

My next sample features Miss You, heat embossed on Rustic Beauty, cut with Vintage Labels and an embossing powder I’ve had for years, the perfect color that matches the paper collection and no clue who makes it! I also embossed the cute little greeting from the same set.

The background is again, Wildflower Silhouette Background, embossed in clear on a piece cut with Flourished Star Pattern.

In case you missed seeing my sneak peek yesterday on Splitcoast, I made this in literally minutes! A lovely, quick gift!

Now, be prepared to have your socks blown off as you visit the rest of the Breadsticks!
What a creative team!!

Let the Sneak Peeks Begin!

I can’t tell you how excited I am about the upcoming ODBD  February release! Flowers and Dies and Silhouettes….oh my!

Earlier this month, the Technique Spotlight on Splitcoast was a Pop-Up Diorama. I love how it turned out!

I stamped Queen Anne’s Lace Background several times on the inside, colored with Copics and a little white gel pen, then air brushed the background. I used one of the sentiments from Miss You, seen through the Matting Circles opening.

The outside is the silhouette from Miss You stamped on a piece from the Blooming Garden Collection, and that cute word die, Hello!, is cut from the Blushing Rose Collection.

Just wait until you see all the fabulous creations from the design team!!

And talk about a quick card, this next one whipped up in no time! Again using Miss You, also Vintage Labels and Vintage Flourish Pattern dies.

Be sure to check back in on the first to see the full release!!

Anything Goes….#204 A Sassy Challenge!

Sassy Cheryl's Stamps

Play along using any Sassy Cheryl’s or a Sassy Kraftin’ Kimmie image and you could be a winner of 2 FREE Sassy digis!!

And….since our challenges are now running for a full 2 weeks, you may enter as many cards/projects as you'd like...just be sure to use at least one Sassy Cheryl digi or Cheryl Alger stamped image on each entered project!!

Here in my neck of the woods we’ve had what seems like a long Winter. Not necessarily as much snow as I’d like to see depth wise, but sure more on the ground and freezing temps! I know Spring is just around the corner..and although I love Winter, I’m ready for Spring!

Patience….just be patient!

Sassy Cheryl's Stamps

I used 3 different Sassy images merged into this card, Patience Secret (blue birds, quote), Quiet Inspiration (orange bird), and Noah’s Tire Swing (tree branch) using PSE11. They’re colored with Copics then I air brushed the cloud background by masking the birds and branch.

Sassy Cheryl's Stamps

You can see in this picture, I printed them on copy paper, hand cut them and applied 2-way adhesive. Then using my homemade cloud template, and the same 2 blues in the birds, air brushed the clouds.

Pretty simple again this week… will I ever get caught up?? I seem to be running in circles and getting nowhere fast! LOL! I needed a birthday card for my brother, so in between messing with garden stuff, I got this made!

This is Snail Mail Max, colored with Copics, masked and air brushed. I printed one of the sentiments that comes with the image at the same time, then added HB, printed from the computer.

Sending Some Encouragement

Our Daily Bread designs, Flower Soft, Elegant Hearts Mold, Quote Collection 3, Spellbinders

A quote from the new ODBD Anniversary release, Quote Collection 3, and a clay heart using a silicone mold  Elegant Hearts, from Flower Soft.

A friend is having surgery on Wed, one more hurdle in her road to recovery!

Our Daily Bread designs, Flower Soft, Elegant Hearts Mold, Quote Collection 3, Spellbinders

I used Sculpey white clay in the mold, while it was baking, I fashioned my card…. 15 min bake time, not long to cool and I was ready to air-brush it! Pretty quick if you ask me!

Now, these molds are also good for food grade decorations…. this particular mold, I’ll keep strictly for paper crafting. You DO NOT want to mix food preparation with purchased modeling clay. I also have a toaster oven dedicated to baking clay. There are recipes for making clay using baking soda that would be perfectly fine to use….I just didn’t have the time to make some!

Flower Soft, Elegant Hearts Mold

I love the detail of the mold! So many possibilities! Oh for more hours in a day!
After air-brushing, I took my black Copic marker, brush tip edge, to the filigree.
