Color Throwdown

Happy hump day everyone! The new Color Throwdown challenge is up and running and I just LOVE these colors chosen by Lynn: yellow, green, aqua and white! Isn't this table setting a gorgeous inspiration?  It just screams spring!  The lemons led me immediately to SU's Lemon Zest stamp set!  I inked the lemons with Bumblebee ink then "kissed" the edges with Pistachio ink - dye inks by Reverse Confetti.

After "smooshing" some Peacock Feathers distress ink on an
acrylic block then spraying with water, I picked up some ink with a brush and splattered it over the white panel of watercolor cardstock.  I then painted some random squiggle markings to create this fun background.  Some pale yellow Nuvo Jewel Drops were the finishing touch!
The card inside has this fun continuation of the sentiment.....

STAMPS: Lemon Zest (SU).
PAPER: Iced Aqua (Reverse Confetti), Black and White Basics 6x6 pad by MFT.
INK: Bumblebee, Pistachio (RC), Versafine Onyx Black, Peacock Feathers distress ink (Ranger).
MISC: Lemoncello Nuvo Jewel Drops, Lemon Zest punch (SU), Stitched Rectangle STAX Die-Namics by MFT.

CAS(E) This Sketch

There's a great layout for the latest CAS(E) This Sketch challenge based on the retro sketch #29! I needed a card for our second son's birthday in another week, so I tried to create a design with colors that gave a masculine feel.  I die cut the balloons from leftover scraps of cardstock in 3 different shades of blue. The strings were added free hand using a Copic Multi Liner ink pen. The circles were punched from black CS then enamel dots were layered over them.

STAMPS: Sending and Wishing (Simon Says Stamp), Marble Background (My Favorite Things).
DIES: Balloons (Simon Says Stamp); Sending and Wishing (Simon Says Stamp), Edge Essentials (Reverse Confetti), Stitched Rectangle STAX Die-Namics (My Favorite Things).

Inspired By All The Little Things

Hello everyone! Hope you're having a super Saturday and will find some time to join us in the new Inspired By All The Little Things challenge! This line-up of glass jars with fresh flowers is such a great inspiration photo! I went with a single jar for my card and used Zig clean color brush markers to color up the images after stamping with Versamark ink and heat embossing with Altenew's Pure White opaque embossing powder.  It's my favorite white EP!

I used #222 Pink Flamingo, #021 Light Carmine and #202 Peach Pink for the flowers; #051 Lemon Yellow, #045 Pale Green, #041 Light Green and #047 May Green for the leaves.  I only used #302 Haze Blue for the jar and later wished I'd have used a little darker shade of blue since it's barely visible.  I wanted subtle and I definitely got subtle!  I used a tag punch by SU for the sentiment and layered it over a banner die. Here's what else I used...

STAMPS: Peonies on Parade and Just the Jar: Quart by Papertrey Ink; New Beginnings by Verve (sentiment).
PAPER: Lime Green (Reverse Confetti); White and Black by PTI; Ranger watercolor paper; Licorice patterned papers by Bazzill Basics Paper.
DIES: Noted: Scalloped A2 Vertical Die by PTI; Tag Sale: Quilted Die by PTI (banner); Peonies on Parade by PTI.

Freshly Made Sketches

I thought I'd add to my sympathy card stash when I saw this new layout for the Freshly Made Sketches challenge.  It has a hint of spring with the patterned paper from Reverse Confetti's Fun Times 6x6 pad.  No stamping involved here...just a couple of dies.  Simon Says Stamp has this lovely delicate sentiment which I cut twice to give it more firmness. The Arboscello Tree die is by Memory Box.

Color Throwdown

Hooray for the arrival of April and hopefully some consistent warm spring weather is here to stay!  It's time for another Color Throwdown Challenge and Lori is hosting this week. She has chosen a beautiful color combo of mint, pink and red!  I dug into my retired stash of SU cardstock to use this Mint Melody color that retired a LONG time ago.

For the background, I used an embossing folder from LifeStyles called Patio.  It was in a set of two which also had a Courtyard EF.  Here's what else I used:
PAPER: Mint Melody, Real Red, Pretty in Pink - SU; White card base - PTI; Textured White (tag) - ? source.
INK: Seafoam (Reverse Confetti) to sponge edges of leaves.
DIES: Fancy Words (Reverse Confetti); Fantasy Floral Die (Altenew); Tag Die-Namics by MFT.
MISC.: Red twine, Brights dots by SU.

We are thrilled to announce that our guest designer for the month of April is Hannelie Bester of the Desert Diva blog!  She is one of the most talented CAS card designers and I've been a fan of hers for a long time!  You don't want to miss her gorgeous sample for the colors this week!

Saying Goodbye to SFYTT

Sadly, this is the last Sketch For You To Try challenge according to Jen's post yesterday on the Reverse Confetti blog, but we can expect other new things coming up soon! I knew I wanted to play along for sure and will miss this challenge that always posted on the first day of the month for the past 5 years!  I decided to use my favorite neutral cardstock by RC: Stone!  I paired it with this patterned paper from RC's Pattern Play 6x6 pad.

I thought the Sand Dollar die would be a good focal point, so I sponged the edges lightly with Stone dye ink.  I added the sentiment from RC's Hello and Thanks Label die set and also used parts of the All Framed Up die set. A really quick and easy card to complete!
