Seize the Sketch

I was playing around with these awesome new 2 and 3-step stamped images from Altenew's Painted Flowers set earlier today and stamped a couple of panels of flowers.  After I got home from my second shift nursing job, I found the current Seize the Sketch challenge and thought I could put one of the panels to good use with this layout.  The white background was embossed using the Charles embossing folder by Cuttlebug.  The sentiment is a label look-a-like from Altenew's Label Love set.  I didn't want to cover up much of the floral design, so chose a ghost shaped heart by Heidi Swapp to embellish.  I had a trimming mistake on the black mat and had to cover up my goof with a punched photo corner.  I actually liked the look of the black accent, so decided I'd just say it was part of my plan all along - lol!

Seize the Sketch

This card is for the following challenges...
Seize the Sketch #22 - fabulous layout by Lori Tecler!
SCS Ways to Use It - incorporate twine/rope on a card.

I adhered a vellum rectangle (hard to see in photo) below the die cut sentiment using spray adhesive.  I sponged some Cool Caribbean ink on the sentiment panel before removing it from the die.  The vellum feathers were heat embossed using Stampendous' Detail White fine EP and adhered using clear Kool Tak foam adhesive squares.  I shaved a tropical gelato color and mixed the bits of color with some light modeling paste, then added it to the card base using a Tim Holtz' Bubble stencil.

PAPER: Cool Caribbean, White, Vellum
STAMPS: Fine Feathers by Waltzingmouse Stamps
ACCESSORIES: Labels Three Nestabilities, Modeling Paste, Bubble stencil by TH, Feather dies by Waltzingmouse Stamps.

WPlus9 Mood Board Meets STS

Just couldn't resist playing along with the beautiful WPlus9 Monday Mood Board Challenge and combined it with the current Seize the Sketch Challenge. I used coordinating papers from We R Memory Keepers and built a floral bouquet on layered circles (offsetting them slightly like the circles in the paper).

Seizing the Sketch & Colors

Hey, Mike, Mike, Mike, Mike, Mike...do you know what day it is? It's hump day - lol! Yes, that
cheesy Geico commercial makes me laugh every time!  Sorry...I digress.  When I saw Peggy's colors for SCS Color Challenge (Gumball Green, Smoky Slate and white), I let out a SQUEEE and thought it would work well with a new oak leaf stamp and die set by Tim Holtz.  I am using Stacy's great layout for Seize the Sketch #4 - am wanting to use that one again and again!

I really love the way you can layer up this leaf and can't wait to try a fall version!  I stamped the leaf twice then die cut the left half and popped it with foam dots.  I sponged with Smoky Slate ink and added the fine splat stamp (stamped off once) from none other than my go to set at the moment - Gorgeous Grunge by SU.  Love these tiny wood veneer stars by Studio Calico...fun to randomly add to a card!

STAMPS: Leaf Blueprint (Tim Holtz), Gorgeous Grunge (SU)
PAPER: Plumeria (BasicGrey), Gumball Green, White
