Happy World Card Making Day!

Happy World Card Making Day! VA is getting a steady rain that started last evening as remnants of Hurricane Ian, so it's a perfect time to get crafty and build up my Christmas card stash. I wanted to mix some new (sentiment and snowflake dies) with an old favorite set called Peaceful Forest from Papertrey Ink. I love the fun, contemporary trees in this set!

I started by layering white and gold glitter snowflakes in an arch over the top of the card base. I then masked them off and splattered some permanent white Gouache paint onto the background. Initially I cut the Peace sentiment from red paper to layer over the gold glitter card stock. It just didn't show up well and "got lost" in the trees so, I changed to using kraft and was much happier.

STAMPS: Peaceful Forest (Papertrey Ink).
INK: Pure Poppy (PTI).
PAPER: Classic Kraft, White (PTI); Glitter Gold.
DIES: Peaceful Forest, Layered Snowflakes: Drift, Crystal & Flurries, Larger Than Life: Peace (Papertrey Ink).

That's all for today! I'm going to add watching college football games to my "to do" list today - lol! Enjoy your weekend!  ~Wanda

PTI November Release Day 2

Did you like yesterday's post with new goodies? There are more "must have" stamps and dies in today's reveals from the November release at Papertrey Ink! We are introducing you to Adorning Trees stamp set and dies + Inside Greetings: Heaven & Nature Sing stamp set + Feathered Friends 17 dies + Feathered Friends Mini 17 stamp set and dies.

I love the classic use of black, white and gold together, so went with a very simple design that lets the gold glitter be the star attraction.

STAMPS: Adorning Trees, Inside Greetings: Heaven & Nature Sing

INK: True Black
PAPER: True Black, White; Glitter Gold
DIES: Adorning Trees, Love to Layer: Notched

For my next card, I'm featuring the newest Feathered Friend die set. This turkey is a fun one and though he's a little late for this year's Thanksgiving season, you'll be ready for it next year!

I seem to be on a roll with using strips in my backgrounds, but they are fun to use and are visually striking in my opinion.

I cut all the turkey parts from white paper then color blended and assembled.

STAMPS: Fall Bouquet
INK: Scarlet Jewel, Canyon Clay, Pure Poppy, Weathervane, Sweet Blush, Melon Berry, True Black
PAPER: Scarlet Jewel, Sweet Blush, Melon Berry, Canyon Clay, Rustic White, White
DIES: Feathered Friends 17
OTHER: Master Layouts 8 (Gina K Designs)

Lastly...I have three cards featuring the newest Feathered Friend Mini 17 stamps/dies.

I took the color cues from the patterned papers and created this vividly colored bird!

STAMPS: Feathered Friends Mini 17, Just Sentiments: Appreciation
INK: True Black, Fine Linen, Pure Poppy, RIpe Avocado, Simply Chartreuse, New Leaf, Summer Sunrise, Harvest Gold, Dark Chocolate, Cocoa Bean, Terracotta Tile, Canyon Clay
PAPER: Text-Style: Fall Prints + Patterns, Rustic Cream, Ripe Avocado
DIES: Feathered Friends Mini 17
OTHER: Stitched rectangle dies; Oval dies

This card is a mini slimline version that pairs a more whimsical turkey with these textured trees. I loved using Ranger Grit Texture Snowfall paste along with Nuvo glitter paste. Use a small palette knife to apply the paste. After spreading over the area, raise up the knife in short motions to give it a raised appearance (think popcorn ceilings) :-)
The snow drift has fine glitter added using a Zig 2-way glue pen.

STAMPS: Oh, Holy Night, Feathered Friends Mini 17, Grand Christmas Sentiments
INK: Classic Kraft, Aqua Mist, Stormy Sea, Sweet Blush, Pale Peony, Berry Sorbet, Vintage Jadeite, Ocean Tides, True Black, Pure Poppy, Summer Sunrise, Fine Linen, Hawaiian Shores
PAPER: Bristol Smooth Surface
DIES: Oh, Holy Night, Feathered Friends Mini 17, Grand Christmas Sentiments
OTHER: Distress Texture Paste - Crackle, Nuvo Glimmer paste, Mini Slimline Essential Bundle (Pinkfresh Studio)

I chose to create a background by color blending over an Aspen Trees stencil. I then added fine glitter to the edges of the trunks and to the starflakes.

STAMPS: Feathered Friends Mini 17, Feathered Friends Mini 8 (branch), Effortless Beauties (sentiment)
INK: Speckled Egg, Antique Linen, Walnut Stain distress inks by Ranger; Sweet Blush, Honey Nut, Saffron Spice, Classic Kraft, Cocoa Bean, Dark Chocolate, Pure Poppy, Orange Zest, True Black, Weathervane
PAPER: Bristol Smooth Surface; White, Saffron Spice
DIES: Starflakes, Feathered Friends Mini 17, Love to Layer: Scalloped Circles
OTHER: TCW Aspen Trees stencil; Stitched rectangle dies; Fine glitter

That is the end of our two day, jam-packed reveals of the November release. You will be able to shop for new items on the 23rd at 10PM ET. Happy stamping!    ~Wanda

Color Throwdown #669

Hello everyone! It's time for a new Color Throwdown Challenge and we've got a classy color combo for you this week: navy, gold and white! I went with an old standby layout using snowflake layers from the Bigz Snow Flurry die by Stampin' Up (retired).

I dry embossed with a Cuttlebug embossing folder for the background panel. The sentiment die was cut twice and slightly offset to be able to see the navy layer peeking out.

PAPER: Dark Indigo, White, Luxe Gold by Papertrey Ink.
DIES: Stitched Rectangle STAX Die-Namics by My Favorite Things; Bigz Snow Flurry by Stampin' Up; Border Bling: Joy Frame by Papertrey Ink.

We would love to have you join us in this challenge!   ~Wanda

Winterberry Bouquets

A rainy day gave me some extra time to finally get to play with some new goodies from The Greetery! I just love their Winterberry Bouquet stamp/stencil/die set which makes it so easy to complete a large floral spray with little effort! I had the foiled backgrounds made over a month ago so that gave me a quick background option.

The first background uses silver foiling on a black background. I really love the fonts in this sentiment set!

The second card uses gold foiling on white and is a plate designed by Yana Smakula. I purchased it from Simon Says Stamp.

STAMPS: Winterberry Bouquet, Opposites Attract Holiday (The Greetery).

PAPER: True Black, White (Papertrey Ink).

INK: Pure Poppy, Scarlet Jewel, Cocoa Bean, Spring Moss, Simply Chartreuse, Ripe Avocado (PTI).

DIES: Winterberry Bouquet, Opposites Attract Holiday, Crimped Frames (The Greetery).

OTHER: Gold and silver foiling paper by Spellbinders.

This is as close to mass producing as I get! 😂 I get bored with many repetitious stamping steps but can handle doing it in pairs. Have a great day!  ~Wanda

Color Throwdown #573

Happy hump day and welcome to the last Color Throwdown challenge in 2019! We'll return in January for a new year of awesome color combos but will take a little break over the holidays. Broni is hosting this week and has one of my fave group of colors: lime green, hot pink and white! I knew I wanted to use these stamps and dies from Reverse Confetti - released a couple of years ago but still some of my favorites!

I have a lot of green cardstock, but surprisingly none of the shades were a match to this polka dotted paper I've had forever! But...I did have a Lime Light ink pad by WPlus9 that was a match, so I just rubbed the ink pad over some white cardstock and bingo...there was a workable green for the holly leaves!  The trees were embossed with SU silver EP.

STAMPS: Triangle Trees, Winter Word Coordinates - both by Reverse Confetti.
PAPER: ? source for patterned paper; White by Papertrey Ink.
INK: V1 Pink and Lime Light by WPlus9; Versamark.
DIES: Triangle Trees, Holly, Winter Words, Diagonal Stitches Cover Panel - all by Reverse Confetti.

We'd love to see how you interpret these colors! If you need more inspiration, check out the rest of the design team samples below.

Paper Players Color Week

Good Sunday everyone! There's a new Paper Players challenge happening today and I'm totally loving the gorgeous color palette chosen by LeAnne! This was perfect to create a card using some new goodies just released in November by The Greetery! I don't have Seaside Spray ink or paper, so I went with what I thought was a bluish shade that I had in my huge leftover pile. Photoshop wasn't cooperating with me and for some reason, my photos look more green than in real life.

I die cut all the pieces, sponged same color inks on the edges, then splattered the pine boughs and pinecones with watered down Copic Opaque White pigment. I also added some crystal coarse glitter (Martha Stewart). I intentionally didn't glue down all the leaves and portions of the bow so they would be more dimensional. I really love the textured details of the Nordic frame dies and those pinecones are so much fun to layer up as well!

STAMPS: Sentiment Suite: Christmas (The Greetery).
PAPER: Kraft, Aqua Mist (Papertrey Ink),  X-Press It Blending Card (for a very stark white).
DIES: Nordic Frames, Botanicuts Pine Bough, Fit To Be Tied, Inside and Out Berry Branch - all by The Greetery.

We'd love to have you join us for this challenge and if you need more inspiration, stop by the blog and check out what the other talented designers have created HERE.

Color Throwdown #572

It's Wednesday and that means there's a new Color Throwdown challenge happening! Barbara Anders is hosting this week and has a really awesome color palette for us: turquoise, green, gold and white! I smooshed and splattered some Peacock Feathers distress ink over watercolor paper then brushed a couple of shades of green from my Pelikan paint set on another panel of watercolor paper. I splattered Blue Gold paint from Gansai Tambi's Starry Colors.

The stag die (WPlus9) was a leftover and seemed like it was meant to be paired with these Tall Pine Trees dies (Frantic Stamper). The sentiment and banner die are from Sentiment Suite: Christmas by The Greetery.

DIES: Crimped Frame and Sentiment Suite Basics by The Greetery; Stag Trio by WPlus9; Tall Pine Trees by Frantic Stamper; Stitched Edges die by My Favorite Things.

We'd love to see how you interpret these colors! If you need more inspiration, check out the rest of the design team samples below.

Freshly Made Sketches

I couldn't wait to play with newly released goodies from The Greetery! This sketch from Freshly Made Sketches shows a one layer design, but I got a bit carried away with wanting to include a couple of the Nordic Frames, so hopefully the challenge police will be forgiving! These Botanicuts Pine Bough dies are so much fun and they are easy to sponge, splatter and layer up! They also pair up nicely with the Inside and Out Berry Branch die. This card came together very quickly and I love all the dimension and texture!

STAMPS: Sentiment Suite: Christmas (The Greetery).
PAPER: Soft Sky (SU), Kraft (Papertrey Ink), X-Press It Blending Card (for a stark white).
INK: Pool Party to sponge pine boughs, Baked Brown Sugar to sponge pinecones; Early Espresso for sentiment - all by SU.
DIES: Nordic Frames, Botanicuts Pine Bough, Inside and Out Berry Branch, Sentiment Suite Basics - all by The Greetery.

Thanks so much for stopping by and commenting!   ~Wanda

Paper Players Theme Week

Good Sunday everyone! It's theme week on the Paper Players challenge blog  and Laurie has chosen Frosty the Snowman for our fun theme! I love snowman images and decided to go with an old digi image that I've had on file for a long time. I didn't have it identified for its source, so I'm thinking I found it as a free printable on Pinterest. I printed it on X-Press It Blending Card then colored with Copics, fussy cut and added fine glitter and black stickles for details.

The patterened paper is from Reverse Confetti's Winter Solstice 6x6 pad. The Pierced Feature Frame die is by Papertrey Ink. You can see a bit of the Softly Falling embossing folder (Stampin' Up) that I used behind the snowman. So there you go! I thought the card front was so busy that I would just add a sentiment inside. :-)

We'd love to have you join us for this challenge and if you need more inspiration, stop by the blog and check out what the other talented designers have created HERE.

Fusion Card Challenge

How adorable is this lantern snow scene?!! I knew right away I had to use the Christmas Eve stamp set from The Greetery for my card for the new Fusion Card Challenge!  I already had the stenciled Frosty Flakes background from one of Kathy Racoosin's 30 day coloring challenges, so all I had to do was stamp up the images using my trusty MISTI that makes it easy to line up the layers. I used primarily the inspiration photo but the layout is a loose interpretation of the sketch in my opinion. I added fine glitter to the trees.

What did I use?
STAMPS: Christmas Eve (The Greetery).
PAPER: White (Papertrey Ink).
INK: Fairy Dust, Silver Lining (WPlus9); Pure Poppy, Hawaiian Shores (Papertrey Ink); Lime Green, Avocado, Bumblebee Yellow, Sunshine, Stone, Stormy (Reverse Confetti); Soft Sky (Stampin' Up); Memento Tuxedo Black.
OTHER: Frosty Flakes stencil by The Greetery; Fine glitter by Martha Stewart.

Try Stampin' On Tuesday

Haha...I did try stamping on Tuesday - for the Try Stampin' on Tuesday challenge - and this card is the result! Problem is I didn't get around to posting it until Wednesday! I'm in Thanksgiving prep mode with one pie baked and the second in the oven. Cranberry salad is ready in the frig as is the cheese ball. We'll be heading to be with my family in Ohio and I can't wait! Hope everyone has a fabulous Thanksgiving and remember that gratefulness and joy is a choice we make daily. Circumstances aren't always joyful but there is still a lot to be thankful for. Sorry...I digress - lol!

Seems like these colors (Peacock Feathers and Twisted Citron) keep repeating themselves in my Christmas cards this year! I love creating with snowflakes (dies by WPlus9) and feel the cool colors work well for this theme. The background was splattered and also stamped using the grunge stamp from the Christmas Countdown set by Stampin' Up.  Not only did I think this would be a good set for holiday tags, but I love the variety of background options it gives! Speaking of SU...that corduroy button was purchased from them MANY years ago. I added fine glitter to the snowflakes after I had the card assembled. I found out that's less messy than adding glitter before adhering them.

Time to hit the shower...thanks for stopping by!     ~Wanda
