Fusion Card Challenge

There's a great summer themed inspiration photo and sketch for the new Fusion Card Challenge! I opted to focus on the lemon this time around and I love the punny sentiments in this set!

In hindsight, I wish I had chosen some darker shades of yellow for the lemons as they look very "washed out" in the photos. I stamped first with Lemon Tart ink, then hit the edges with Bright Buttercup. I then very lightly sponged a tiny bit of Green Parakeet ink. With the leaves, I stamped in Green Parakeet, added New Leaf to the edges and lightly sponged Olive Twist in random spots. To the right is the inside view.

STAMPS: Lemon Zest (SU)
PAPER: Sending Love (Gina K. Designs), New Leaf, White (Ink to Paper).
INK: Dye inks as listed in description by Ink to Paper.
OTHER: Lemon Zest punch (SU).

Stay cool...it will be another scorcher day in VA!

Sunday Stamps Challenge

It's a busy week preparing food as well as planning for travel out of state, but...I couldn't resist this fun sketch for the Sunday Stamps Challenge! I created a snowflake background using WPlus9 inks - Lime Light and VI Pink.  For the 3 circle elements in the sketch, I used white snowflakes that have fine glitter added to them. I once again went to the trusty 'go to' sentiment Christmas set by The Greetery.

STAMPS: Snowflakes (Stampin' Up - retired); Sentiment Suite: Christmas (The Greetery).
INK: Lime Light, VI Pink (WPlus9); Memento Tuxedo Black.
DIES: Stitched Rectangle STAX (My Favorite Things); Snowflake Trio (WPlus9); Sentiment Suite Basics (The Greetery).

So that's it for now! Off to the grocery store for last minute items.                                                                              ~Wanda

Freshly Made Sketches

There's a great new sketch up on the Freshly Made Sketches challenge blog and it was perfect to get a masculine birthday card made for a man turning 85 years old in our community!

My go to set is still the Geared Up Garage set by Stampin' Up with matching dies and papers in a 6x6" pack that make it so quick and easy to coordinate a layout.

The car was die cut from one of the patterned papers and the gears were cut from shiny silver cardstock by My Favorite Things.

Thanks so much for stopping by!                  ~Wanda

Tag, You're It Challenge

Check out this adorable inspiration photo for the new Tag, You're It Challenge! It's perfect to highlight the retired but still awesome Reverse Confetti set called Fabulous Flamingo. I paired it with foliage/flower stamps from the Tropical Chic set by Stampin' Up and used a sentiment from RC's The Tweet Life. Patterned papers are from My Favorite Things' Black and White Basics 6x6" pad and that hot pink tag (Rounded Banner STAX by MFT) is Raspberry Fizz cardstock from Papertrey Ink.

I used the following distress oxide inks: Picked Raspberry, Squeezed Lemonade, Mustard Seed, Twisted Citron and Mowed Lawn.

DIES: Diagonal Stitches Cover Panel, Fabulous Flamingo - Reverse Confetti; Rounded Banner STAX - MFT; Tropical Chic - Stampin' Up.

Paper Players CAS Masculine Week

Happy Sunday everyone! Ann is challenging us to create a CAS masculine card for the new Paper Players Challenge.  Lately, my go -to stamp set for masculine recipients is the Geared Up Garage set by Stampin' Up! The background is the You've Got This stamp (SU) in Faded Jeans distress oxide ink by Ranger.

The gears were die cut from brushed silver cardstock. I added Glossy Accents to the windows and headlights and added Clear Star Gelly Roll (Sakura) pen highlights to the hubcaps.  Copics used: B34, B37, C0, C2, C4.

Happy Birthday

I'm still cranking out masculine birthday cards and was inspired by the theme and photo board of the new challenge at Addicted To Stamps and More! They are celebrating their 7th birthday (HB2U!) so I went with that theme plus I was drawn to the red and aqua colors in the photo.

I have definitely gotten my money's worth from this Stampin' Up set - Geared Up Garage - and their matching dies - Garage Gears Thinlits!

The patterned papers are all from a SU 4 1/2" x 6 1/2" paper stack called Fresh Prints. It matches with Real Red and Coastal Cabana CS. The gears were die cut from a brushed silver CS. The car image was stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black ink on X-Press It Blending Card then colored with Copics (BG11, BG32, BG34, C0, C2, C4). Glossy Accents was added to the windows and headlights and Clear Star Gelly Roll pen was added to the hubcaps.

That's it for now...have a great day! I'm gearing up (haha - pun intended) for a busy weekend with visiting relatives so the blog will be pretty quiet for several days.                                          ~Wanda

Geared Up Garage

There are numerous male birthdays in our family this month, so I'm going with the great masculine set from Stampin' Up called Geared Up Garage to add another card to my stash. I'm using the sketch by Heidi for the Sunday Stamps Challenge.

I used this Cuttlebug embossing folder on Pool Party (SU) cardstock which always reminds me of the pattern on metal tool boxes, etc.  The car was colored with Copics and highlighted with Clear Star Gelly Roll pen on the hub caps and Glossy Accents on the windows and head lights.

STAMPS: Geared Up Garage (SU).
PAPER: Classic Garage 6x6" DP, Pool Party (SU); White (PTI); X-Press It Blending Card
INK: Memento Tuxedo Black.
DIES: Geared Up Garage (SU); Stitched Rectangle STAX Die-Namics (MFT).
COPICS: BG11, BG32, BG34, CO, C2, C4.

Thanks for stopping by!                           ~Wanda

Paper Players Sketch

It's sketch week at The Paper Players challenge blog! I've got a ton of male birthdays coming up in June, so this was a perfect layout to use a fave masculine set (Geared Up Garage) by Stampin' Up.  The car image is so much fun to add some detailing aka Glossy Accents to the headlights and windows and some Clear Star Gelly Roll (Sakura) pen to the hubcaps. They have a silver glittery sheen that doesn't show up well in the photo.

To get a crisp black sentiment, I used my MISTI and stamped it three times with Memento Tuxedo Black ink. The gear dies were cut from a shiny metal cardstock. Patterned paper is Classic Garage 6x6 pack by SU and love that there are patterns on both sides which give you so many more options! I popped the car up on foam tape.

COPICS: R14, R46, R59, C00, C0, C1, C3.

Home Sweet Home

A beautiful Monday that included a trip to a local greenhouse where I finally bought a lilac bush that is loaded with buds and I'm hoping it will bring some gorgeous spring blooms soon! A light rain this afternoon brought me indoors where I created this card for the Just Us Girls challenge - it's word week and the word is houses - and I also used Julee's new Mojo Monday Sketch.

This is a very simple design, so I'll get right to my supply list.

STAMPS: Holiday Home (SU).
PAPER: Fresh Prints paper stack by SU; Crumb Cake, Real Red, Coastal Cabana.
DIES: Stitched Rectangle and Square STAX Die-Namics by My Favorite Things.

CAS(E) This Sketch

There's a great new sketch over on the CAS(E) This Sketch challenge blog! I am on a roll with the masculine Geared Up Garage stamps, dies, etc. from Stampin' Up's Occasions catalog and used it once again!

Patterned papers are from the 6x6" pad called Classic Garage.  The gears were die cut from shiny silver metallic card stock.

The sentiment banner was die cut with Stitched Fishtail Flags STAX Die-Namics by My Favorite Things.  I am especially drawn to this set due to my husband owning his own business...a very successful business for close to 30 years and it's called Classic Auto Body and Paint!  How cool is that sentiment now?! A bit of trivia: His shop painted a Porsche for Jerry Seinfeld many years ago!

CAS(E) This Sketch

I'm squeaking in under the wire with the CAS(E) This Sketch challenge! I had all my supplies out for this Geared Up Garage bundle of stamps and dies, so went with that theme again. The layout is a unique one...designed by Chrissy Larson.  In hindsight, I should have layered the two banner elements over black, but this is the simpler, cleaner version of that idea.

The car was die cut from one of the 6x6" pages of paper from the Classic Garage pad. The gears were die cut from Tranquil Tide CS. The sentiment was stamped with black ink on Crushed Curry CS. Though it looks busy, it was really very simple to assemble.

Tuesday Morning Sketches

I'm playing along with the Tuesday Morning Sketches challenge #491 and am using new products from Stampin' Up's Classic Garage suite that includes stamps, dies, embellishments, 6x6 patterned papers, etc. that all coordinate together.

There are numerous car lovers in our family and friends circle, so this set from the 2019 Occasions catalog by SU was a must have!  I stamped the car with Memento Tuxedo Black ink on X-Press It Blending Card then colored with Copics (G12, BG72, C1, C2). I added Glossy Accents to the headlights and windows.

STAMPS: Geared Up Garage (SU).
PAPER: Crushed Curry, Tranquil Tide, Black (SU); Classic Garage 6x6" paper pad.
INK: Memento Tuxedo Black.
DIES: Garage Gears Thinlits dies (SU); Fishtail Flags and Stitched Circle STAX Die-Namics by My Favorite Things.

Freshly Made Sketches

Kim has a fabulous new sketch for us to play along with on the Freshly Made Sketches challenge blog! I added a trio of different patterns of Washi tape that were close to ink colors that I had out for another challenge.  I'm not a big fan of purples but it sure has shown up frequently in my recent cards - lol!  I added the inks - Wild Wasabi, Sweet Sugarplum, Elegant Eggplant - by pouncing the pads onto the stamp then applying the stamp to the card stock.

I fussy cut the hydrangea and popped it up on foam dots over the open frame. The stitched rectangle STAX Die-Namics are by My Favorite Things.

STAMPS: Because I Care (Stampin' Up).

It was a brutally cold (high in upper 20's) and very windy day today!  Felt so much colder IRL!  Looking forward to milder weather this weekend and then up to the 60's next week!  Yay!

Color Throwdown #524

Happy New Year and welcome to a brand new Color Throwdown Challenge! I love this week's colors and started to go with florals then did an abrupt u-turn and went with this fun Lemon Zest set by SU!

I used Liquitex light modeling paste with a Heidi Swapp hexagon stencil for the background.  The lemons were inked up with Bumblebee Yellow then dabbed lightly with Pistachio ink; the leaves were stamped first with Parakeet then dabbed with Lime Green (inks are all cubes by Reverse Confetti).

The striped paper is from the Black and White Stripes 6x6" pad by My Favorite Things.  Stamp set (Lemon Zest) and coordinating punch are by Stampin' Up. The sentiments were stamped twice using a MISTI and Versafine Onyx Black ink. The tiny scallop border is a die (Edge Essentials) by Reverse Confetti.

We're thrilled to have Vicki Finger from the Twinkling Paper Studio blog join us as a guest designer for January!  She does beautiful work and you don't want to miss stopping by her blog and checking our her gorgeous card!
