Color Throwdown

It's Wednesday and that means there's a new Color Throwdown Challenge on board! Broni is our hostess and has chosen some fabulous colors - cornflower blue, bright green, white - that are so striking together!

My first struggle was trying to come up with the right shade of blue.  I finally went with Blueprint Sketch distress ink with highlight stamping using Chipped Sapphire.  The leaves were stamped with Twisted Citron and Mowed Lawn distress inks.  The background behind the striped cover plate die is a piece of watercolor cardstock that has the above inks smooshed over it.  I wanted to add the illusion of dew drops, so added some Grey Mist Nuvo Jewel Drops.

STAMPS: Flashy Florals (MFT).
DIES: Flashy Florals (MFT), Small Hello (Simon Says Stamp), Stripe Sentiment Cover Plate (MFT).

Nail Polish Marbling

I rarely play with PTI's Make It Monday Challenge, but decided to dust off some old bottles of nail polish to try the marbling technique as shown in Lizzie's tutorial HERE. I only used 3 colors (gold, plum and light pink) by different companies and they all reacted differently when hitting the water. One color sank to the bottom, the other sat as it should on top of the water and the third one spread out so thin over the top that it more or less disappeared entirely!  I went ahead with the next steps anyway and this background is the end result.  No award winner but still OK!  I'm also playing along with the CAS(E) This Sketch challenge...a classic layout by Michele Ferguson!

STAMPS: Larger Than Life (PTI).
PAPER: Rich Razzleberry (SU), Brushed gold (SU), White (PTI).
INK: Rich Razzleberry (SU).
DIES: Larger Than Life (PTI), Wet Paint (PTI).

Mojo Monday

It's time for the first Mojo Monday Challenge of the month, so get your creative genes in gear and join us for a chance to win some new Verve! We'll have one winner for every 50 entries, up to a max of SEVEN winners!  You can play as often as you like, and the more entries the more winners!

Here's my take on the sketch...

March came roaring in big time with some of the windiest days ever this year! Lots of downed trees, roof damage and some power outages surrounding us in VA! It's a month where green is in the forefront...both with St. Patrick's Day on the horizon and with all the green buds in the flowers and trees! Green is such a happy color for me, so this card with some of Julee's new free digis at the Verve store made me happy!  The doily die called English Tea Party is by Cheery Lynn Designs.  I decided not to punch out the tiny openings and leave it as an embossed look instead - especially when it didn't thoroughly cut through the thick cardstock even with using a shim.I
colored the shamrock with Copics (YG23, YG25) then fussy cut and popped with foam dots.  The tiny scallop edging is a border die from Reverse Confetti's Edge Essentials die set.

I'm also entering this into the current Curtain Call Inspiration Challenge where the theme is "GREEN".

So...we'd love to see how you interpret this challenge!  You'll want to post your creation on the Mojo Monday blog.  If you need more inspiration, check out the design team's creations below:

Friendship

How is it possible that it's Sunday evening and my 3 day weekend off is over already?! Squeezing in one last card for the Freshly Made Sketches and The Card Concept challenges, I went into my archives for some older stamps.  The background is SU's retired French Script background.  The sentiment (Flourishes' Tulips For Friends) and the florals (Flourishes' Garden Picks) are some old favorites.  After stamping on X-Press It Blending Card with Memento Tuxedo
black ink, I colored with Copics and fussy cut then popped the jar of florals with foam tape.  Patterned paper is from The Citrus Matstack by DCWV.

COPICS: YG00, YG01, YG03, BG11, BG15, YG95, G99.

It's time to let my bedtime oils kick in...lavender and vetiver in the diffuser...Tranquil roller bottle on my wrists and neck. 😴

Inspired By...

Good Saturday everyone!  I'm looking forward to a weekend off work (which means I can steal some time to stamp) and hope you will be able to find some crafty time as well and join us at Inspired By All The Little Things!  Leigh has a great inspiration photo for us!  I was inspired by the window panes, green/white/brown color combo and, of course, the flower pots.

Here is what I came up with...

I knew right away I wanted to use WPlus9's Fresh Cut Containers stamp/die set, so began with watercoloring with Mijello Mission paints on Ranger WC cardstock for the flower pots.  I stamped the greenery with 4 different shades of green dye inks (all by WPlus9) and felt they needed a wee pop of color, so added a few florals into the mix.  The frames are from Paper Smooches' Fancy Frames Icons die set and the sentiment is from their Fancy Frames stamp set.  The card base is Stone CS by Reverse Confetti.  It looks pretty simple but will have to admit, it took a good bit of time to die cut, stamp and arrange all the greenery!

We're happy to announce that Lindsey Larsen of Occasional Crafting is our guest designer for this challenge! Be sure to stop by her blog and say hello.

Enjoy your weekend and hope to see you in the gallery!

SFYTT

It's a new month, so that means there's a new Sketch For You To Try challenge over on the Reverse Confetti blog!  It's been a long time since I inked up the Fabulous Flamingo set and thought it would pair up perfectly with RC's Flamingo ink and cardstock.  Patterned paper is from their True Love 6x6 pad and I then cut four tags (Tall Tag Trio dies) - shortening each one by 1/2".  They are now temporarily named the Not So Tall Tag Trio - lol!  I discovered my 1/4" hole punch fit the tag hole perfectly, so punched circles from Flamingo CS then added Crystal Stickles to create faux brads.  There you have it...my relaxing after a night at work project...finished at 1:00 AM late last night (or guess I should say early this morning)!

Color Throwdown #432

There's a new Color Throwdown Challenge up today and our talented hostess - Barbara Anders - has chosen this incredible photo with some sunny, happy colors: bright green, yellow, red and aqua!   Check out those vintage cars (that red and white convertible caught my eye!).  Since I already had this WPlus9 stamp set out from a previous project, I thought it would be a perfect fit. I'm also playing along with the Tag, You're It Challenge!  Here's my card...

This is pretty clean and simple so will get right to my enabler's list:
STAMPS: Fresh Cut Containers, Hand Lettered Hello and Ink Splats by WPlus9.
INK: Real Red, Daffodil Delight, Wild Wasabi, Garden Green - SU; Lake House by WPlus9; Versafine Onyx Black.
DIES: Timeless Tags 3 die by WPlus9; Small Hello by Simon Says Stamp.
MISCELLANEOUS: Washi tape and twine.

We're so happy to announce that Lisa Lara from Lisa's Life Lines blog is joining us this month as our guest designer!  Though I've never met her IRL, I consider her a dear online friend who is so sweet with her comments through social media and blogland!  Welcome Lisa!  Can't wait to see how you rock the colors!

This card also fits the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge where the theme is to use a tag on our project.
