Sketch 98

Here is another one of the layouts I did for Personalscrapper's online crop last week. It is based on sketch 98 on the GOT SKETCH blog by Valerie Salmon. This sketch is super easy to work with and was able to make this layout in under 30 minutes! I have so many 5x7 pictures I need to scrap and this one was perfect for this sketch. The challenge I created this layout for was the "OLYMPIC" challenge where we were to use 5 or more circles on our layout. I used Scenic Route papers and chipboard..in fact I think this line (Grafton) is now 50% off now if you don't have it or want more! I love a sale but hate it that Scenic Route is closing. If you have used this sketch or decide to please leave a link in the comments, I'd love to see your take on the sketch!

Friday's Featured Blogger

Today's featured blogger was one I found when checking out the sketches a few weeks back on the Got Sketch website. Cari Locken's blog Me & My Thoughts, showcased a FABOULOUS layout using Valerie Salmon's sketch #90, and I just knew I had to lift it! I actually almost copied it exactly using up some of the October Afternoon papers from my August 2008 Personalscrapper kit. I love the mix of patterns don't you? Besides this awesome layout, Cari has many other awesome layouts and cards on her blog. I just LOVE these layouts done using the new Cosmo Cricket Earth Love line! And these cards are just spectacular! Gotta lift these designs as well. So go hop on over to Cari's blog and check out all the inspiration found there! One other thing to note, over at Personalscrapper I am participating in another LOAD (layout a day) contest for the month of October. My goal is to get 31 layouts done! Keep your fingers crossed for me, I'm gonna really gun for it this year! Come join us if you want, there is a challenge everyday just in case you need a jump start to your creativity! TGIF!

Git 'R Done Wednesday

Hello folks! I was so excited about actually completing the last layout in my "junk" or "to be completed" drawer, but I am sorry to say it was not the last one as I originally thought. I pulled out the stuff to complete this layout and found a few pieces of paper and a picture with a title on it, so I guess that is the last layout that needs to be finished. So we will have one more edition of Git R Done Wednesdays where I post a layout that I left half done for an ungodly amount of time. This layout was minus any embellishments and journaling. The picture was mounted and strips of paper and the title block where with it, but that was it. I couldn't make it work like I wanted to, so I turned to my fav site when I am at a standoff ~ Got Sketch by Valeria Salmon! I quickly located a sketch to use by scrolling down on the sidebar where it lists the sketches by groups such as one photo, two photos etc. I decided my picture and embellishments were a perfect fit for sketch #69, and then my page came together in about 30 minutes from there. Easy peasy...you gotta love the sketch....some Seinfeldese for those of you old enough. I like the way this turned out, it is one of my favorite pictures of my son, he is on the HUGE ferris wheel at Mall of America's theme park and this layout has "laid" around since 2004 folks, so it was about time I completed it don't ya think?! I used Basic Gray's Mellow line from my September 2007 Personalscrapper kit. The colors complimented my photo well I thought. I plan on doing a bunch of housekeeping tomorrow so I can have lots of time to play this weekend as there is an online crop over at Personalscrapper this weekend, so I hope to get a lot done then. I will post what I get done at the end of the week! Have a wonderful "hump day" and catch back here soon!

I've been a big slacker!

I've been slacking off lately, sleeping in this weekend, watching more TV then I normally do, nothing big going on to keep me from scrapbooking except for some reason I couldn't get motivated to get off the couch! I'm gonna blame it on the cooler weather, which made me want to snuggle up with my kitty Molly and stay in my warm bed reading or watching TV! But I'm back today with another double pager! I got 6 pictures on this layout. These are pictures from an overnight campout at Papa's house last week. Pretty good for me to scrap an event within a week...but I had bought these cute Cosmo Cricket papers and stickers and wanted to use them. The flower, square and line accent are felt by Fancy Pants - love that look, but anyone have any ideas how to adhere it down so it sticks well? I tried glue dots, but that didn't work and ended up using Crystal Effects by Stampin Up, but even that though it worked didn't really stick very well. So I will try something else next time out. This layout was inspired by a sketch by Valerie Salmon at Got sketch?. It is sketch #30 for those who want to check it out: http://gotsketch.blogspot.com/ Just scroll down to the end of the first page and you will be able to search for sketches based on # of pics- fast, easy and very versatile. I LOVE her sketches. I plan on taking her next class Got Sketch 103 when it opens next year. Got Sketch 102 was great, sorry I missed 101! I plan on spending the rest of the day watching football with my son and if I'm not too tired finishing up another layout I am working on, so check back again tomorrow...I am trying to play catch up on my LOAD (layout a day) contest at Personalscrapper! Wish me luck :o)

Got Sketch 102 coming to an end

Here is a layout I did for the Animals R Us challenge during the Personalscrapper crop, but I based this layout on a sketch by Valerie Salomon on her blog GOT SKETCH. Here blog is awesome and having been a fan for awhile so I decided to sign up for her class GOT SKETCH 102. I was not disappointed, I have been scrapbooking for a LONG time and I still learned a bunch of things. I met a lot of nice and creative ladies and had a great time. The good thing about this class is you don't HAVE to complete the assignments in any order or time frame, the class will be up for a while yet so you can still go sign up, I will MOST definitely be signing up for any future classes! I plan on completing a few of the sketches I haven't gotten to this weekend. This is a fast way to get awesome looking layouts in a short amount of time! The above layout features a memory page of my cat Snuggles and in the journaling I included a poem given to me by the vet after she passed. I had met to share the finished layout for my Git R Done Wednesday task as well, but I forgot to pick up the remaining pics I had printed out for it, so it is still 3/4 of the way done, but it now has a title and one pic on it! HA! I WILL get it done, sometimes life(or a senior moment) just gets in the way!
