The surgery went well! The surgeon called, the first recovery nurse called, the second recovery nurse called, and the pharmacy called! It was all pretty efficient, and I was on my way to pick DH up.
Maria, the second recovery nurse, was a lovely person, very thorough, and very helpful in understanding how the immobilizer brace fits on, how to help DH get dressed, etc. While she was finishing up a final round of meds, I was at the pharmacy getting educated on all the meds he would need for the next month. I brought home a pharmacy!
It took several attempts to remember what each was and when it needs to be taken. Anti-inflammatory, pain meds, blood thinners, etc. So all is good. I just need to find a bell (don't worry - I've got lots of bells in my supplies), and I'll find one for him. He was in no pain yesterday because of the nerve blockers. Today will be a different story. But we'll muddle our way through it. The first couple of weeks when he needs to wear the brace will be the hardest.
And other than a few appointments that I need to go out for, I'm pretty much home for the three weeks. I think he might be rethinking that business trip!
A huge thank you to all the orthopedic surgical nurses and recovery nurses for the wonderful job you do. And a big thank you to all the medical staff in general. I thanked Maria for all her help—she was the kind of nurse you wanted to see when you woke up from surgery!
Other than being dehydrated, I'm in good shape. Of course, I'm sleeping with my mouth open, so that dries my throat out. GRRR! I've got to get my humidifier out. But it's so nice to sleep under the duvet and a Halloween quilt on top. Who wants to get out of bed when you're that snuggly? So yes, I slept in again this morning, and I'm OK with that.
Yesterday was a pretty lazy day. I don't think I did one thing. Of course, it was later in the afternoon when I got home from the hospital. We picked up tea on the way home, and I sat in the back, and he sat in the front! I read the latest mystery book reviews from The National Post. Oh my --- I see some good ones to put on my reading list. As if I needed more books to read!!!

Everything has now been unpacked, so I did accomplish something during the day. I have someone coming for some embroidery instruction tomorrow, so the goal will be to tidy up a table so we can work. No worries; that should be easy enough to do. And now that everything is unpacked, it's time to start chipping away at the piles and getting the stuff put away. That's a job for later today.
The missing pouch |
She thought a previous educator had made it because Emily knew exactly how it was made, but I made it! No wonder I couldn't find it! It amazes me that I've never had a sample walk—except for this one, and it was one of my colleagues! It's amazing because we have so many. This zippered pouch was made from a dollar store placemat!
I have some URGENT paperwork to take care of today and lots of emails I need to respond to. I see more people have signed up for Spice Market, and I hope to acknowledge those who signed up this past week. I have NOT sent out an acknowledgment for Dear Jen yet, and I've received questions about the binding class at Hobby Horse.
So bear with me as I work my way through all of that. The binding class is FULL, and I'm not sure how many people want to take the class but cannot get on the list. Let me know if you want to take the class, but there is no room. If you have already sent me a note, no need to send another. Depending on how many there are, I'll devise a solution. There will be homework (a small sample every month) in the binding class, and I would very much prefer that this does NOT become another note-taking class. That's why the class size was capped.
Well, I must get myself organized for the day. I have an appointment this morning, and I need to walk the girls and get DH organized. All in a day's work!
Have a super day!!!!
Ciao!!!
