Be a Flamingo

Birds are really in right now and the Jefferson and Wilson Stamp Sets features the latest birds from Sparkle N Sprinkle. I used both of these sets for today’s card but our little flamingo is the star.

The flamingo image was stamped with Versamark ink and heat embossed with Black Detail Embossing Powder on top of a piece of cardstock already heat embossed with the new Rosa Embossing Powder. A copic marker was used to carefully color the beak and legs and the image was fussy cut.

The background behind the flamingo was created by masking and repeatedly stamping two of the birds from the Wilson set. This was die cut with Spellbinders’ Wonky Rectangle die and Chocolate Sparkle Embossing Powder added to the edges using the Distressed Embossing Technique. This was layered on green, die cut with a larger Wonky Rectangle. A Versamarker was run around the edges and covered with Rosa EP to create the look of another layer.

The sentiment was embossed with Chocolate Sparkle EP and then Rosa EP was added to the "Flamingo" with a glue pen.  This was layered on green die cut with a tag die and added to a pink layer covered with Rosa EP.

To add a tropical flair, pink flowers and green leaves were die cut with Sue Wilson Designs Perfect Peony Open Petals die set. Sparkle EP was added to the flowers, they were all shaped, and arranged on the card front. Pink jewels were added to the centers.

I hope this card made you smile!

A Year In Review Blog Hop

With 2011 coming to an end, we have a tendency to look back over the year and review everything that has happened, both the good and the bad.  Karin, one of my fellow Sparkle N Sprinkle designers, is have a Year In Review Blog Hop at With an “I” for Paper so I have reviewed the last twelve months on my blog and I am going to share with you my 12 favorite cards for 2011.

Being a designer for Sparkle N Sprinkle the last six months has been an honor and so much fun, so I want to share my favorite cards using SNS stamps and products first.

My final card used stamps from JustRite .
This was my first Center Step card and one of the first cards I won a challenge with.
I hope you enjoyed reviewing these favorites.  I would love if you left me a comment, letting me know which of my favorites is your favorite and why.  Also, don't forget to go here to find links to other blogs that are participating.

One last item - in reviewing my blog I realized that I totally forgot about my one year blogiversary.  I plan to combine this with a celebration of another year to come in January.  Watch for this because I will be offering some candy.

No Tricks, Just Treats

I had this awesome SVG that I downloaded for Make The Cut to use on my Cricut.  It is the black spider web frame.  I just had to use it so decided I really should make some type of Halloween card.  The pumpkin border and the fence at the bottom of the card are both MS border punches.  I then used a MS corner punch to create floral medallions, which I cut in half and used on the two sides.

The center was cut out using a circle Nestie to show the cute pumpkin I stamped onto the yellow base.  I colored it with my Tombow markers.  I then stamped the round border and also cut it out with a circle Nestie, along with the inside.  I then pop dotted it to the front of the card.  Both the pumpkin and the border are from JustRite Stamps.

Crazy 4 Challenges ~ C4C59 also has a Fall/Autumn theme.

Friendship

I am having a lot of fun these days because I have Fall break from school and actually have time to play.  Yesterday I went up into the mountains to visit my friend, Bonnie, and we played all day.  She had not seen a lot of my new toys from convention so we did a lot of sharing.  I had seen a new type of card called a Funky Fold Card at Sweeet Designs By Cheryl and so we decided to see if we could make one.  We had so much fun with it.

Bonnie shared some very precious butterfly paper that she had been saving for a special card.  We used some of the same ideas and then went our seperate ways to create our own version.  I love this look!!

I used a new Nellie Snellen die to cut the butterfly borders on each side of the card.  I used a new MS border/corner punch for the bottom and also the inside.  The butterfly is a Spellbinder die, layered and embossed, and the saying is from JustRite, cut out with oval Nesties.

I concentrated on the butterflies on this card for the Stamptacular Sunday Challenge.   I love the theme, BFF - Buttons, Butterflies, and Friend(ship).  I am so lucky to have so many wonderful friends.

Cute Card Thursday had the them of "What's Buggin You" so I used butterflies for this, also.

Flourishes Timeless Tuesday Challenge (FTTC89) has the challenge to make the sentiment the focus.

Thank you, Bonnie, for letting me use some of your very special paper and an absolutely wonderful day!!
