Summer Dreams

During this hot Memorial Day weekend I thought I would share this summer silhouette card.  I have been laid up with knee surgery so my friend, April Williams, came over and she shared some fun techniques using alcohol inks.

We spent the afternoon making different backgrounds.  I used one of these backgrounds for today’s card.

The Pelican on Piling Silhouette from Just For Fun was stamped in Tuxedo Black Memento ink on the front.  JFF's Summer Dreams sentiment from The Seasons Word Block was stamped at the top with Ripe Persimmon Distress Ink.

A little twine was added, along with dark blue and Graphic 45 Designer cardstock layers on black.

Hope you are enjoying a long weekend of friends, family, and fun.

Friends

Alcohol Inks are in again and so fun to play with.  I used these, along with Just For Fun's Peacock Feather stamp, to create the background for today’s card.

Several colors of Alcohol Ink were applied with an Alcohol Ink Applicator to white glossy cardstock.  Alcohol Blending Solution was applied directly to the Peacock Feather stamp and the image was stamped on top of this background.  This was repeated several times and then lightly buffed with a soft cloth.  This removed enough of the ink to create a subtle design.

The background piece was layered on blue and black cardstock layers.  The top portion of JFF's So Glad sentiment was stamped in black on white cardstock and the word FRIENDS was die cut beneath it.  This strip was layered along the bottom.  The word was die cut again from the blue cardstock and popped up over the previous die cut word.

Thank you for stopping by.

At The River's Edge

This is E. Marie, hoping all of you had a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday.  I had a wonderful time visiting my youngest, with my husband.  Seems like everyone is full force into Christmas preparation now, but I never quite get there until the calendar says December 1st.  As a result, I am sharing a card that still has the look of Fall.

The background for this card was created using glossy cardstock and alcohol inks.  The Couple at the Rivers Edge image, from Just For Fun Rubber Stamps, was stamped in the center of the card front and then cut out.  This was layered on black, teal, and rust cardstock.  The background piece was layered on black and rust.

Then the image was popped up back in the center, using dimensional tape.

Have a wonderful week,

E. Marie

Sparkle N Sprinkle's November Sketch Challenge

We have a new sketch challenge at the Sparkle N Sprinkle Creative Challenges blog.  It is hard to believe November has arrived, though around me it feels more like the middle of December.  The weather has created very difficult situations for so many and you are in my thoughts and prayers.

Here is the sketch for the November challenge.  So many possibilities!!  And here is my card, using the new sketch and Sparkle N Sprinkle stamps, Warmest Sympathy and Ivy Background.

The background is heat embossed with Winter White EP and the lacy strips are created using Cloud Nine Velvet Glitter and a combination of the Masking on Velvet Glitter Technique and the Alcohol Inks on Velvet Glitter Technique.  Both can be found in our Tips and Techniques section and full card instructions can be found here.

You will have until 8:00 p.m. ET on the last day of the month to enter your creation and have a chance to win a stamp set of your choice.  For all the details and guidelines, head on over to our new challenge blog.  Check out what my fellow designers have created to inspire you.

What are you waiting for?  Head to that craft room and get started!!

Zendoodle Flowers

It has been quite a week!!  With school ending in a few more weeks things are a bit crazy.  It didn’t help that I lost my voice.  Lots of exciting things are happening at Sparkle N Sprinkle.  They just released four new sets and they are wonderful.  You can see them at the SNS blog.

Have you ever tried Zentangles.  SNS sells quite a few Zentangle books and I keep meaning to play with this technique but never seem to try it.  I love the way it looks so I was very excited to see this as part of two of the new sets that have just been released.  Today’s card used the new Zendoodle Flowers Set.

I stamped all the images with Memento Tuxedo Black ink and colored them with my new alcohol markers.  I used a Spellbinder label die to cut a window out of my top layer and popped it up over the Zendoodle Stem Daisy image.  I cut out the other images and layered them around the window with the Zendoodle Laughs image at the bottom, layered on pink.  I thought this kind of gave the look of a window box full of flowers.

Don’t forget to come back tomorrow for the Sparkle N Sprinkle Celebrating Summer Blog Hop!!
