From the Archives

I was scrolling through the archives and found theses photos of an exhibition I visited in the Tropical Museum in Amsterdam in 2011. It is a funny story.

Royal Tropical Institute

The Tropical Institute in Amsterdam, it is an impressive entrance in this big hall.

There are always many interesting exhibitions.

These photos are from the archives of 2015,  it feels I haven't been in a museum for ages.

Open Monuments Weekend

This is me in the marble entrance hall of the Tropical Institute in Amsterdam.
During the Open Monuments weekend you had access to places which are normaly not open for visits.

This huge building from 1926 has a knowledge center and a museum about the former Dutch overseas regions. In this octagonal hall, twelve rare Italian types of marbles are incorporated.

It must have cost a fortune to realise this I suppose but I don't really like it. It is too pompous all those different types and colours of marble together.

This is the entrance to the building from the outside, right behind the door is the marble hall.
