Hi all!
My turn again for Dollar Find Friday. I've got a quick project for you today.
I was at the Dollarama and saw these mouse pads that can be personalised with a photograph.
Instead of using a photo, I decided to stamp up a piece of Whisper White and put that in. I used the set Flowers of Happiness and stamped the flowers and sentiment using Black Stazon. I then coloured them in with watercolour crayons in Apricot Appeal, Cameo Coral and Lavender Lace. An Aquapainter blended the colours easily. A black marker was used with the Colour Spritzer tool to add some black splatters. Covers up my colouring skills (or lack thereof) a bit!
Thanks for stopping by today! Hope you have a great day and start to the weekend!

Dollar Find Friday Card Tin
Happy Friday! Oh, how I love Friday......
Today I've got another Dollar Find Friday treat for you. If you are a new reader to my blog, basically Dollar Find Friday is where member of the There She Goes design team find stuff that costs a buck and transform it into something awesome!
My project today uses this Bart Simpson tin found at Dollarama.
I decided to transform it into a tin to hold little note cards. You could make this for anyone. I thought it might even work as a tin to hold love notes to send to your loved one :)
I cut white cardstock to fit the tin front and rounded the corners with a punch. The mailbox image and sentiment from Special Delivery are stamped in black Stazon. I added a sheet of red designer paper from SU! and rounded it off as well. A black ribbon from Michael's is tied to separate the two areas. A quick layer of colour was added to the mailbox image with a water colour brush (Real Red and Close to Cocoa). I went over the red again with a marker as I didn't think the red stood out enough. The cardstock is adhered to the front with a tape runner. It's stuck on there pretty good. I could have used some Modge Podge but didn't have the energy to drag it out and clean up those brushes.....
I then made some small 3x3 notecards out of white cardstock. The each have a 1x3" strip of matching red DP, a length of black rick rack (unknown) and a sentiment stamped in black ink.
Here's one of the cards close up.
This last picture is of the note cards and envelopes inside the tin tied up with ribbon and ready to give to some to lucky recipient! If I had some of those RSVP pens on hand, I would have made one to match and thrown it in too :)
Hope you like! Thanks so much for stopping by today! Tonight I am off to get my hair done (such a treat!) and follow it up with having my stamping friends over. Can't wait!

So Sweet Mini Set
I'm back with another card. Saturday morning seems to be my stamping time! Hubby takes the boys to hockey and I just have one one my hands at a time while the other is there. So peaceful!!
For this card I used one of the new mini sets being released at There She Goes on Monday, Dec 1. These mini sets are only $5 each and quite a deal if I do say so! Great if you are on a budget and want to treat yourself to something new. This one is called So Sweet.
The gorgeous cupcake image is embossed using craft ink and clear embossing powder. Makes it look delicious! The sentiment is also embossed. Regal Rose and Whisper White paper along with some Sweet Always DP cut using SU!'s Top Note die for the Big Shot were used. I was inspired with all the beautiful creations Amy Rohl has been cranking out with hers.
I tried something a little different on the ends of the white sentiment paper strip. Check it out.
I wanted to have an interesting detail on the ends of the paper but was having trouble getting it to look right. I spied the Curly Label punch I just received from SU! this week and had the idea to put just the end in as shown. Below you can see the result.
Kinda cool, eh? Gives a different kind of label look. I've seen dies that do something similar (Spellbinders Double Ended Tags (but without the embossing), for example) but for the amount of time I'll use this technique, my punch is doing the trick. I don't know if anyone has come up with this idea before as I'm often a day late and a dollar short, but I was pretty proud of myself!
I finished it off with some Chocolate brads from Pink Hedgehog Papercrafts. The icing part is raised on a dimensional. Love my dimensionals!
Thanks so much for stopping by today! Don't forget to enter the TSG01 challenge!

Dollar Find Friday
So, it's Friday!
The There She Goes Design Team members are taking turns sharing tutorials where we take stuff we find at the Dollar Store and make it look like, well, make it look like we paid a lot more than a dollar for it! Using There She Goes stamps, I was able to transform a wooden calendar into a thoughtful gift. And since October 5th is World Teacher Day, I thought a calendar for a teacher would be appropriate!
To start, here's a picture of most of the stuff you will need:
Wooden calendar (Dollarama)
Black acrylic paint
Paint brush
Sandpaper
Scissors
Adhesive (I used Mono Multi)
Oval cutters (I used ones by Creative Memories)
Black ink ( I used Stazon)
Small red rhinestones (Mine are Westrim Crafts)
Red ribbon (Mine is May Arts)
Whisper White paper (SU!)
Old Olive paper (SU!)
Patterned paper (I used a piece from the Basic Grey Perhaps collection)
Branching Out stamp set (There She Goes)
Acrylic block
Here's what the calendar looked like before I started.
Step 1: Remove the extra wood piece that makes the shoreline. I used scissors to gently pry it off. I probably could have tried a safer way (and I would recommend that) but what can I say? I like to live on the edge....
Step 2: Sand down the calendar to take off any shine. This will help the paint to adhere better since I'm not priming it.
Step 3: Paint it black. I did two coats and it covered nicely. You can still see the bit where the shore was attached but I cover it with ribbon later. Don't worry about it too much.
Step 4: While you wait for the paint to dry, stamp the tree and trunk/branch image onto Whisper White cardstock.
Step 5: If you are using the Creative Memories oval cutter, use the template to figure out which oval and cutter to use. I used the second largest oval.
Step 6: Cut out the tree using the green blade.
Step 7: Cut out an oval from Old Olive paper using the same oval guide but with the red blade.
Step 8: Stamp the top of the tree image on patterned paper.
Step 9: Carefully cut out tree top image.
Step 10. Adhere ovals together and paper piece the tree top image.
Step 11: Adhere small red rhinestones using Mono Multi.
Step 12: Adhere ovals to the calendar and tie a ribbon around to cover where the shoreline was attached.
Put the blocks back in, stand it up and you are done!
I honestly have never really altered anything like this before, but I did find this a really fun challenge! I was thinking that this type of calendar would also make a really great "count down" type calendar. Wouldn't it be neat to stamp it using the new Spooktacular Silhouettes set and then alter the month piece to say "days until Halloween"? Then you could use the blocks to count down until the day. Or use one like this to count down days left until summer vacation if you are a teacher! ;)
Thanks so much for stopping by today! I hope that you feel inspired to go to the Dollar Store and pick up something, turn around and make it fabulous! If you try one of these calendars, please send me a link. I'd love to see it!
Hey-and don't forget to go here and leave a comment on that post to enter to win a free set from There She Goes! Have a great day!
