Less is More #461 - Pink & Gold

Hello and welcome to Saturday! It's time for a new challenge over at Less is More

We have a colour challenge for you. I decided to use a pink and gold brusho panel that I had in my stash. I die cut it using a stitched rectangle die.

The sparkle word die was cut using gold mirror card. The sentiment was heat embossed and I used a banner die to pop it up on my panel.

I would like to enter my card over at the following challenges -
CRAFT Challenges (Anything Goes), Little Red Wagon (Emboss), Creations in Pink (Anything Pink Goes), Daisy Chain Challenges (Use Dies), Die Cut Divas (Birthday), Sweet Stampers (CAS)

Thanks for popping in today and I hope to see your Pink & Gold creations at Less is More :)

Less is More #432 - Colour Challenge

Hi there and welcome to Saturday which means a new challenge over at Less is More.
We have a colour challenge for you -

I obviously love making Christmas cards and these colours were perfect for me!

I have made a few cards to help inspire you -

Card #1
This card is very simply made. A die cut sentiment with silver mirror card, a few stamped snowflakes, then sequins to finish it off.
(the snowflakes are from a CAS-ual Friday set called Sugar Plum Fairy)

Card #2
Once again, a die cut sentiment (this time covered with a clear sparkle pen), a small stamped sentiment, then plenty of sequins :)

Card #3
I created a watercolour panel using brushos and mica powder. I used the ink smooshing technique which produced a beautiful piece. Then I die cut the letters out, popped them up with foam tape, stamped the sentiment, and added yep you guessed it sequins :)

Where is the gold. In different light, the gold mica powder makes an appearance and looks beautiful!

Card #4
Using my left over red and gold brusho panel, I created a small panel, die cut the sentiment with gold mirror card and stamped my sentiment. No sequins this time!

Here's a closer look at that gold mica mixed in with the brushos.

Our guest designer for this challenge is the amazing and wonderful Kathy K!

Less is More #418 - Recipe

Happy Saturday! Time for a new challenge over at Less is More. We have a FUN challenge for you -

Here are my cards -

Card #1

I used different shades of blue archival ink for my background (Splat stamp from HLS Mixed Media Fun set). I embossed my butterfly and coloured it with Zig Watercolour pens, also in different shades of blue.

Card #2

Using a panel of watercolour paper I used my water pens with brushos to add colour drying in between. I used clean water to 'paint' the drips so the colour would run. Would you believe I used the same splat stamp that I used in my first card on this card? I picked up brusho colour and just randomly stamped and dried between colours. It wasn't meant to give a clear impression of the stamp, it was just another way to get the layers/texture.

I hope to see you over at LIM!

I would like to enter my card over at the following challenges -
Card #1 - Crafty Calendar Challenge (Add a Butterfly), Ellibelle's Crafty Wednesday (Bugs, Blossoms, and/or butterflies), Sparkle Forum Challenge (Spring is in the air), STAMPlorations (Stamps and Flight)
Card #2 - Seize the Birthday (Anything Goes), Creative Craft Cottage (CAS), STAMPlorations CAS Challenge (Anything Goes)

Thanks for popping in today, have a great weekend :)

HLS March CAS Challenge

Hello!

Over at Happy Little Stampers we have our new monthly CAS Challenge.

My favourite technique is to use Brusho powders. For my cards I have created two similar designs using the Smooshing technique.

For both cards I used glossy cardstock. I smooshed a couple of panels and then used my MISTI to stamp. This is very handy because it is hard to stamp on glossy cardstock without moving a little while stamping.
I fussy cut all my flowers then adhered them to a base which I had sprinkled brusho on and gave it a light spritz with water.

I would like to enter my cards over at the following challenges -
Happy Little Stampers (Watercolour + optional flowers), Mix it Up Challenge (Anything Goes + Smooshing), Penny Black and More (Spring Flowers),

Thanks for popping in and I hope to see you at the challenge blog :)

Thanks!

Hi everyone, I hope you are having a great weekend. I have popped into my craft room this afternoon to create a card for the Surgeon who operated on my mum back on the 21st of October.

Mum was diagnosed with possible ovarian cancer due to an enormous cyst on her left ovary. Long story short, the cyst was removed (it was approx twice the size of a shoebox..), as was both mum's ovaries, her bowel was disected off the cyst as it had wrapped itself around it. Mum was having trouble with her appetitie - well, her stomach had been pushed up into her lung cavity.

So! A HUGE thank you to Dr Robyn Sayer (and her team) from the Lifehouse Cancer Hospital in Sydney AND the amazing nursing staff. This card is going to them :)

I started by sprinkling turquoise brusho on my craft mat, then spritzed it with a bit of water. I smooshed my card into the brusho. I also used some gold mica powder mixed with water picked up with a paintbrush to flick it over the card. This created my background.

I then smooshed another panel but also heated some embossing enamel for a bit of texture. I die cut my buttrflies twice - once with the smooshed panel and also using black card. I popped up the smooshed butterflies using a little foam tape.

My mum is now home recovering well. Thanks to everyone in the crafting community who has been sending their best wishes :)

I would like to enter my card over at the following challenges -
The Crafters Cafe Challenge Blog (Insects/Butterflies), Mix it Up Challenge Blog (Anything Goes + Watercolour), Cut it Up (Thankful theme + Smooshing Technique and Die Cuts), Watercooler Wednesday Challenge (Anything Goes)

Thanks for popping in today :)

Less Is More #391 - Take 3

Hey again everyone. Time for a brand new challenge over at Less Is More! This fortnight, we want you to 'Take 3'.

Here is my card -

This is stamp set that I received from our generous sponsor - Visible Image. It's called 'Shining Bright'. I used brusho powder to create a splash of colour. I stamped the light bulb three times then added my sentiment.

Inkspirational #182

Hey there! It's time for a new challenge over at Inkspirational. For the next fortnight we have a photo to inspire you and hope you will play along.

Here is my card -
I tried to mimic the teal colour in the photo by mixing blue and green brusho powders together over glossy card. It looked really good - and then it dried! It was more of a green colour.

I also mixed in some gold perfect pearls to give it that gold accent like some of the items in the photo.

I decided to go with the large sentiment covering the card like the words you can see on the shelf and in the mirror.

Check out the challenge blog for more inspiration by my fellow designers. Thanks for popping in :)

HLS March Watercolour Challenge

Hi everyone, it's time for a brand new Watercolour Challenge over at Happy Little Stampers.

I've had a busy week! I've just started my online University Degree in Criminology and Criminal Justice so I am very excited about that. I haven't had much time in the craft room but I try and make something as soon as I get the chance.

Anything Goes but I decided to use our optional twist.

I started with a panel of glossy card stock, sprinkled busho randomly, then misted with water. I left it to dry.

I used a new die from Lawn Fawn that pops up butterflies!

I used my MISTI to stamp my sentiment which is from the HLS Doodled Flowers set. You need to be VERY careful when stamping on glossy paper as the ink can smudge or you can slip when stamping.

That's it from me, I hope to see you over at the challenge blog.

I would like to enter my card into the following challenges:
Double 'D' Challenges (Pink and White + mood board)
Try It on Tuesdays (Powder it.. I used Brusho)
Creations in Pink (Anything Goes)

HLS December CAS Challenge

Hi everyone, it's time for a new CAS challenge over at Happy Little Stampers!

Our monthly theme for you is -

Once again, I used one of my leftover pieces that I had created with Brusho and a Stencil and simply embossed a sentiment right on top.

Easy peasy! Okay, I hope to see you over at the challenge blog with your embossed (wet or dry) CAS creations!

HLS September Watercolour Challenge

Hi everyone! Woah, September already?? It's a big month for me - Father's Day on the 2nd and my dad's 60th birthday on the 11th. I am also starting to plan my grandson's 1st birthday party which is in November - can you believe he is nearly 1????

Over at Happy Little Stampers we kick off a new month with our Watercolour Challenge.

Anything Goes but you may like to play along with our twist and use a butterfly or two or three...

Here are my cards (yes I made two lol) -

For my first card I placed a stencil on watercolour card, sprinkled turquoise brusho, misted with water, then lifted the stencil. I used my heat gun to speed up the drying process.

I stamped and die cut my butterfly from some left over card that I flipped the stencil over and pressed the ink on to it.

I rounded off the edges of this card for a bit of interest.

My second card was created in the same manner but I used orange and yellow brushos.

Here is a video tutorial that I created a while back to show you how to use your watercolours with stencils.

I hope to see you over at the challenge blog!

Turquoise Thanks

Hey everyone. I'm here today just for fun :) I have been trying to get ahead with my DT stuff and made a number of cards. The one I am sharing with you today is just something that I made because I could lol.

I created this using a combination of Brusho watercolour and Zig Watercolour pens.

I started by sprinking Turquoise Brusho crystals onto my craft mat, spritzing them with water and smooshing my card. I also added a bit of turquoise mica powder to the mix. I dried my panel in between smooshes.

I used my MISTI to stamp all of my images and embossed them with white powder.

I coloured my arrangement with my Zigs (Light Blue, Turquoise Green, Cobalt Blue, and May Green). Once dry, I fussy cut them out and adhered them to my panel. I finished them off with an overlay of glitter.

HLS June Watercolour Challenge

Hi everyone, we have a new watercolour challenge happening over at Happy Little Stampers!

Here is my card -

I smooshed yellow, orange, and rose red brushos onto my panel. I also watered down some gold mica powder and smooshed that in as well. I had a small piece leftover so I stamped a butterfly and die cut it to pop it up on the card.

Once my panel was dry, I used my MISTI to stamp my sentiment. I added my sequins using glossy accents to adhere them. While I had the glossy accents out, I smothered the butterfly to make it all shiny :)

Our winner for this challenge will receive a $20 coupon to spend at the shop! Check out all the details HERE.

IF YOU USE STAMPS BY HAPPY LITTLE STAMPERS AND YOU ARE OUR RANDOM WINNER, YOUR PRIZE WILL BE DOUBLED!

World Bee Day

Hi there everyone! Today I am honoured to be part of a blog hop that has been organised by the very talented Milka Gubo. The aim of the hop is to support bees and to raise public awareness of the importance of bees and apiculutral products.

You should have come to me from the lovely Kathy Curry's blog but if you have missed someone along the way, please find the complete list further down my post.

Last December the UN officially declared that the 20th of May is officially "World Bee Day". If you are interested you can see the press release HERE.

I had to improvise for my card as I don't even have anything related to bees in my stash! I will have to fix that :)

I created a honeycomb effect using a die which I placed over a Brusho background. I used yellow and orange brushos, smooshing them and drying in between smooshes.

I created my sentiment by die cutting the letters and then masking a Happy Birthday sentiment so only the Happy was inked up.

Happy Little Stampers is sponsoring this event as are MANY other sponsors. If you would like the chance to win a prize, you need to hop along with all the amazing sponsors/designers.

Kylie Purtell (you are here)

Here are all the amazing sponsors participating in the hop (all the prize details can be found at Milka's blog)

Milka is also giving away Jane’s Doodles ‘Garden Friends’ stamp set to two lucky winners.

Here is Aileen's card -

Here is my card -

I decided to use the blue colour for my background after embossing my dandelions (from the new release set Dandelion Wishes). I smooshed Turquoise Brusho onto my panel, drying in between smooshing.

I die cut my sentiment out of sliver glitter paper. A few blue sequins finished it off.

Happy Little Stampers is the sponsor this month!
