Book Blurb:An instant hook thriller when paradise becomes a life-and-death nightmare. Already reeling from a rash of maritime disasters, a war and international terrorists, vigilante Madeleine Nesbitt and amateur detective Peter Duncan are destined for even darker days when they investigate the man with no conscience behind the world's most profitable enterprise. They find themselves in a sea of corruption, deception and lies.
Review: This story started out a bit too slowly for me. I almost put it down a few times, but once I hit page 60 things took off and more than made up for the slow beginnings.

This book is really a great crime novel, focusing on a drug cartel and a huge company that manufactures pacemakers and their connections. The slow start deals with getting us introduced to all the players. From the young girl who is on a boat that the drug runners destroy, to the veteran who begins working for the mighty JaHart company and everyone in between. Leona really gets into each character's mind so that you really feel you know them. You come to understand their disappointments, the greed, the lust for money, power and sex and just about everything in between.

Madeleine Nesbitt is one of the strongest female characters that I've seen in ages. She is full of courage especially when facing and betraying the drug lord that is responsible for killing her family and stealing her innocence.

Peter Duncan is the Quality Assurance Manager that learns quickly that something is terribly wrong with the pacemakers @ JaHart and it is something that almost gets him silenced.

These two characters work on their own to bring down both powerful men and what makes this really interesting is the connection these two share from their younger days.

The book may have started slowly but Shadow Cay really delivered after the initial 60 pages.  Leona Bodie is going to be a name to watch in crime novels.
