Jesus, Nic thought as he took the elevator down to the basement. His powerful attraction to the American came as a surprise to him; the minute she’d taken his hand in the elevator he’d had an instant hard-on.
Sex with guests was not good PR for the hotel. He had a serious conversation with himself as he walked into the wine cellar—think of the Yelp reviews. But his next thought had to do with which wine she would enjoy and what her red lips would look like closing over the glass. Not exactly the voice of reason he was trying to sustain.
He moved to the reds and chose a fruity Loire Valley Pinot Noir that would look beautiful against her red mouth. He’d get one of the porters to take it up, not trusting himself to knock on her door again.
There had been a moment where he was hoping she would invite him in, offer him something to drink from the mini-bar, kiss him. He ran a hand over his mouth and made his way back to the first floor, intent on finding someone in the kitchen to take the wine to her room.
The music pumped louder as more and more people filed into the lobby, waving their masks and drinks in the air. A crush, she’d called it. That was how he felt as he pushed through to the back of the bar and skirted in between the bartenders to find the good crystal. One perfect sparkling glass for the goddess upstairs. He heard a glass break across the room—the cleanup was going to be ridiculous.
Nic moved from the bar, allowing the bartenders their much-needed space, and waved over a young porter. “Nic?” he thought he heard mixed into the music. Couldn’t be—then again, his name, louder this time. A woman’s voice, one he recognized. Nic brought the porter close so he could hear him. “Is there a redheaded woman behind me calling my name? Don’t be obvious.”
“Oui, patron.”
Daphne. Merde. “Never mind,” he said to the porter. “I’ll take it myself.”
Nic took the private elevator to eleven, thinking more about getting away from Daphne than what he would say to Mademoiselle North. What had she said her name was again? God, he was horrible with names. He got to her door and hesitated, wondering if he looked creepy or desperate, realizing the longer he talked to himself outside her door, the more creepy and desperate he looked. He knocked lightly, then more forcefully when no one answered.
“Mademoiselle?”he yelled out. The lock turned and there she was again in her bare feet, still wearing the strappy dress that accentuated her body. Her eyes widened and she smiled. Breathtaking. He held up the bottle of wine and a single glass. “As promised.”
Her surprised gaze touched the bottle, then his eyes. She seemed to debate for a moment, then stepped back. “Come in. Maybe you can open it for me?”
“Of course.” The moment he stepped inside, she closed the door and came toward him, so close he could smell the vanilla scent of her hair. Then she kissed him, sweetly at first, her lips testing his, then bolder, their mouths fusing perfectly. She pulled back slowly, his lips following before he let hers go. There was a wicked gleam in her eye.
“I told myself I would do that the next time I saw you,” she whispered.
He licked his lips. “I’m happy you did.”
“Will you stay and have a drink with me?”
“I would love to,” he said, staring at her mouth. He gave her the glass and moved to her small kitchen for the bottle opener.
She inspected the crystal in the light. “You only brought one.”
He popped the bottle with a graceful flick of his wrist, then came toward her with a grin. “We can share.”

Review: An affair that turns out to be with a new business partner? Maya thinks she's headed to
France to sell shares of a vineyard she inherited from a father she didn't know. This is after a
disastrous relationship with a man who ends up getting the promotion she was expecting.

It really was a great way for her to start over. I actually thought with her business acumen, there
wouldn't be much of a question of her keeping her shares, once she started to really see the business..

There was instant chemistry between her and Nico, hence the fling. Together as reluctant business
partners they still have sparks, especially the way things way things turned out.

I really liked how they handled revealing the relationship between Maya's father and mother. My heart
broke for Maya and what might have been there. It also left me wondering how her relationship with
her mother could stay strong.

There's even a little drama with a client's daughter who has a "thing" for Nico.

I absolutely loved this story. Maya and Nico are an absolute great couple. I wish this one would have
been a little longer, so we could have gotten to know everyone better, but it was a perfect novella for
me.

Review: First of the cover. OMG! Gorgeous! The plot is actually what drew me in, because well, restaurants, especially classy ones, where I could never afford to eat, fascinate me. However once I started reading the book, the cover kind of irked me, because Dani is a full figured girl, which is drummed into the readers head at every turn.

Dani is a career focused chef and Toni is a single dad restaurateur and also Dani's boss, kinda sorta. The setting is Italy. Really can things get any better? Well Dani has trouble with men. Her last guy was a chef/restaurant owner, who used her creativity in the kitchen to make himself look good. When things went south, Dani was the one that looked bad.

I like the relationship dynamic as well as Toni's family situation. He has a really skanky ex-wife who is trying to get him back. Then there's his daughter who seems to be connecting really well with Dani.

Dani is trying to make a name for herself, but things keep happening to her. Not to mention she has her famous model mother to deal with.  Her mom slept with Bowie back in the day! Her mom is definitely a piece of work. You are never sure if you like her or hate her.

I loved the whole foodie vibe of this book, and Dani's angst. Toni was the perfect mix of nice guy and alpha male, being an overprotective dad, businessman and lover.

Dani, however is the absolute star of this book. I give props to the author for creating a full figured character that gets the hot guy without transforming herself into a size 2. She's full of angst and insecurities. I absolutely adored her.

This was a great romance!

Dani picked her jaw up from the floor and froze. She couldn’t believe that Toni was standing in front of her, and that his first image of her since the wedding was like this—frazzled and sweating.
“Buona sera, Chef. It’s good to see you.”
His voice washed over her and for a second she’d forgotten that they weren’t the only two people in the room, until one of the line cooks jolted her out of her head.
“Chef? The mazzancolle?” The young man slid a plate in front of her and scurried away. She looked down at the bright orange prawns, then back to Toni.
“What…how…what are you doing here?”
“I could ask you the same.”
Liam clapped his hands and steepled them as if in prayer. “But we have no time for reunions. Sir, please, my table.”
Toni’s curt nod was followed by a look Dani interpreted, as “we’re not done.” And by the aggressive way her blood was pumping through her veins, they weren’t done. Not by a long shot.
Dani turned back to her dish, but her mind was on the man that was opening the wine locker. How did he have keys to Marcello’s wine locker? More images of the two of them in Brazil had her sending out the dish with the server, then calling it back when she forgot the sprig of parsley. She needed to get it together. On a deep inhale she focused on the spices in the air again. Oregano, red pepper, sultry musk…huh?
Dani whipped around and there was Toni leaning against the stainless steel counter, his arms and ankles lightly crossed, smiling. He looked gorgeous, maybe a little leaner than she saw him last, but his facial hair was perfectly trimmed, his navy suit over the white T-shirt was impeccable, and his sandy-blond hair was just the right kind of messy.
Liam was shouting a thank-you to the heavens and waving around bottles of Lafite.
She wanted to go to the bathroom and freshen up. She wanted to kiss that smile right off his face.
“How is this possible?” he said, his gaze roaming down her front, then behind her to the entrées at her back.
“You tell me. How do you have keys to Marcello’s locker?”
“We own this restaurant. How are you standing here cooking for my guests?”
“I came to visit Marcello. What do you mean we own? This is Marcello’s.”
“And his family’s. I am his nephew. How do you know him?”
“I used to be his sous-chef.”
Toni jumped up. “Here? When?”
“It’s been eight years now.”
“I was in London at school then.” Toni’s eyes narrowed. “How did this never come up at the wedding?”
Dani’s eyes darted around the room before she spoke.
“We didn’t do much talking.”
His wicked smile took Dani’s breath away. “No, I guess we didn’t.” He shook his head. “I can’t believe you are the one saving our asses.”
