One of the worst things that could happen to a reader happened to me today.
My nook wifi's battery died and it won't take a charge!
I can't use my precious nook until the new battery arrives in 3-5 days!
I have my new nook Color but I haven't been able to get to Barnes and Noble to hunt down a protective case for it, so I've been keeping it safely in its box.
I keep praying that it will start to charge so that I can finish the book I was reading. I think this is another reason why eReaders will never replace physical books.
I'm going to go in full panic mode soon.
Nook I need you....someone get a defibrillator on my device! STAT!

Why Ereaders Will Never Replace Real Books
I love my nook with all my heart and soul. It is one of the most wonderful gadgets on the planet. That is, until today when I thought I was charging it on my computer.
Nope...I had it plugged in, but not to the computer. The USB attached to the computer was for my mp3 player.
Big oopsy!
So when I went to read the book I had nearly finished I discovered my battery was just about DEAD!
Eeep!
This is why ebooks will never totally replace print books, at least in my eyes.

Getting Used To The Nook
I have to say, it is taking some time to get used to reading books from my Nook. I'm not sure why. Maybe I'm just an old fuddy duddy, but it does feel slightly different from holding a book in your hands.
So far in the last month or so, I've read about 6 books on my Nook. The rest were all print books. Still I think I'm getting better.
I haven't made an ebook purchase yet though. All of the books I've read are either the freebies I get from Barnes and Noble classics or the ARC Galleys from Net Galley.
I guess I'll know I'm a total convert to the Nook when I can bring myself to buy a book that isn't bound.
Does that make any sense to you?
I do know one thing, I like the Nook better than reading books on the computer. That is a royal pain in the butt!
So to those of you with eReaders, did you make the digital transition with ease or do you still feel like you are missing something by not having a bound book in your hands?

Ereader Debate
There is no way I'm going to be able to go away for vacation this year, so I decided to treat myself to a new toy. I want an eReader. Not because I want to give up physical copies of my books. No, that won't happen because I love "real" books too much.
However there are some places that I can get ARCs digitally.
So I've been asking everyone what they like about each of the eReaders that seem to be selling well. I have to admit, I'm leaning towards the Nook. Though I think I'll opt for the lesser priced model withou thte 3G.
I'm also considering the Kindle, because it has been around for quite some time and everyone loves them. I just don't like devices where I have to convert files to a different format to use them. It is one of the reasons I avoided iPods for the longest times. I hate m4a files. Plus I have alot of books on PDF and I don't want to have to go through all the extra time that conversion takes.
So can any of you provide me with some good feedback on these two devices. I know some people have Sony readers too, but I really like the features on the Nook and Kindle.
