Blog Tour: Catch Him If You Can

Author Bio:
Jennifer Shirk has a bachelor degree in pharmacy-which has in NO WAY at all helped her with her writing career. But she likes to point it out, since it shows romantic-at-hearts come in all shapes, sizes, and mind-numbing educations.
She is a USA Today bestselling and award-winning author of sweet (and sometimes even funny) romances for Montlake Romance and Entangled Publishing. Her novel, FIANCE BY FATE, a 2015 Readers' Crown Finalist, became an Amazon #1 bestseller for Series Romance. And recently, WRONG BROTHER, RIGHT MATCH, WON the Sweet Traditional category of the 2017 Golden Quill Contest and became a #1 Amazon bestseller for Holiday Romance and USA Today bestseller.
She serves on many volunteer boards in her community, but is most proud of her work on the Ocean City Free Public Library Board of Trustees, where she has served as President for over 3 years. She resides in a beach resort in NJ, and when she's not involved in all the above, she's taking care of her most treasured possessions: her husband, daughter, and dog (Sox).

Review: I've been meaning to read more Jennifer Shirk, so I was thrilled to get a chance to read Catch Him If You Can. Her books are wonderful sweet romances with characters that you absolutely fall in love with.

I have to admit I love the fake fiance trope, so that really made this book more fun for me. Oh and when the characters love Doctor Who, well. Its happy happy joy joy time for me when it comes to reading. I love when characters like the same  things I do.

Our hero is a vet. Squee! Animal lovers make me so happy. He's slightly geeky too. Wade is officially my new book boyfriend. I have to say that I seldom have tried to claim book boyfriends, but this year, I think I've claimed three! Wade is definitely one of them. In fact, I'd say he would be at the top of the list, for being a Doctor Who fan. I loved all the references to the show both new and classic versions.

Can you say perfection?

Yes it is!  It is total perfection, especially as both hero and heroine need each other to be their fake significant other, him to keep matchmaking friends from sending women his way, and her to get a great client for her wedding planning business.

Its a small town romance about two people determine to not get attached to anyone. Of course, that doesn't work out, because as they really get to know each other they start to get attached!

I loved it!

Wade stood in line at the Drip N Sip, about seven people back, mentally warming up to let good old matchmaking Judy Tavish have an earful. What a friggin’ exhausting morning he’d had at work on Saturday, combating the flirting, the date requests, and the come-ons. Becky was right. His office had served more like a singles bar than a veterinary clinic. Well, no more. He was done with that, but mostly he was done with the meddling gray-haired coffee barista, looking over at him now and shooting him that wide, cheery-assed smile of hers.
Oh, hello, Wade!” Judy waved, all sunny and good-natured, which ironically had the direct opposite effect on his already foul mood. He gritted his teeth and didn’t wave back.
And what animal peed on your parade?” a feminine voice asked beside him.
He glanced to his right. Arden Pearson stood next to him with arms folded and an amused grin on her glistening pink-glossed lips. Arden was his sister’s best friend and all-around town sass-mouth—at least to him. He’d known her since high school when she had braces and blond hair down to her butt. Her mouth was still as sassy—maybe more so—but the braces were gone and her straight hair was cut shoulder length in a mature, professional style now. He’d always thought she was a cute girl back then, but as an adult, she was pretty damn stunning—when she wasn’t ribbing him. She had moved back to Cape Harmony about five years ago to open up her wedding planning business. Wade rarely ran into her in town unless she was with Kinsley, which made this day all the more agitating.
He turned away. “Right now, I’d actually welcome being peed on,” he muttered.
She made a tsk tsk sound. “Wow, you are having a bad day. Well, join the club.”
Join the club?” Wade turned back to her and blinked. Damn, she had the prettiest eyes. The most unique kind of blue he’d ever seen. He immediately looked away. “Are you being bombarded at work and at home by hordes of single marriage-minded women?”
Well, no— Wait.” She laughed. “Hold on. Are you?”
Yes. And it’s all Judy Tavish’s fault,” he said, jerking his thumb in Judy’s direction. “She’s taken it upon herself to become my own personal walking, talking Tinder account.”
Hmm…” Arden’s delicate brows drew together. “So, does this mean you want to book me ahead of schedule for a discount, or do you want to wait until the actual wedding proposal?” she said with a chuckle.
I knew you wouldn’t see the seriousness in the situation.”
You’re right. I don’t.” She shrugged. “I mean, so what if Judy thought you should get out and have some fun and gave your number to a few nice women. Oh, boo-hoo.”
He looked her dead in the eye. “Twenty-six women, Arden. Twenty-six. Not including the crowd that showed up at the clinic on Saturday with their fake sick pets. And did you know that when I got home from work there were brownies and half a baked chicken left on my doorstep.”
Arden whistled. “Damn. Remind me to use Judy when I’m looking for a date. Or need a snack.”

Book Review: Wedding Date For Hire

Author: Jennifer Shirk
Title: Wedding Date For Hire

Book Blurb:

Maddie McCarthy is single, between jobs, and (oh, the shame) lives with her mother. To make matters worse, she's the maid of honor for her sister's wedding, and desperately needs a date. Then she sees her salvation—Match Made Easy, a service for women in Maddie’s exact position. If she can't find a boyfriend, she'll do the next best thing...

Hire one.

Trent Montgomery isn't actually part of Match Made Easy. He's just doing a favor for his cousin, but one look at the blonde who hired him, and he's totally hooked. Now Maddie thinks that the attraction sizzling between them is just “part of the package.” And Trent is running out of time to prove to her that her date-for-hire might just be her happily-ever-after...

Review: Sometimes you need a short fun romance to clear you head and make things enjoyable. This book was just what the doctor ordered.

I love stories where the couple is not really a couple, but then ends up a couple.

Wooo that almost doesn't make sense, but it does make for a sweet story.

Maddie and Trent are a great couple and it helps that they have a past history. Though I had a hard time figuring out how Maddie's mom, who she lived with,  couldn't figure out that her boyfriend isn't really her boyfriend, and while I'm at it what good sister would let her soon to be hubby pick a best man who dumped her sister and got her fired from her job?

Hmm.

That was one thing I couldn't wrap my brain around, but this is romantic fiction and strange things happen here. That's what makes for fun reading, and that's what this is.

But let's talk about Maddie and Trent's back story.  Think Monica and Chandler from Friends. Maddie is a former fat girl who has some serious issues with trust and getting involved. A lot of people feel that there is a curse on the first born women in her family. Maddie seems to use that as a crutch to not get to involved, but when she needs a date for her sister's wedding and her nasty cousin Veronica starts needling her, she takes matters into her own hands, and that's how she ends up at Match Made Easy with Trent as her date for hire. And the cost for his services is pretty steep considering she's an out of work pastry chef. Trent was a high school football player with a huge ego and some nasty friends, that could have stood to learn a thing or two about bullying. Maddie was a victim.

Of course things start to unravel just when they both realize that they have feelings for each other as the week goes on. But not to worry, there's a happy ending here.

About A LITTLE BIT CUPID: Finding love should be easy, but wedding photographer Pheobe Ward knows better. When Cupid shows up on a crazy mission to help her —and save the world in the process—Phoebe realizes love might be even more complicated than she thought. Even with Cupid showing her Mr. Right , she can’t stop thinking about his best friend, Mr. Wrong.

Cal Crawford has never had time for love, but now he’s falling for Phoebe. Which means it’s got to be just plain wrong to set her up with his best friend, right? But even though seeing Phoebe with someone else will break his heart, he can’t walk away from her.

Phoebe can’t afford to choose the wrong guy with the fate of the world at stake. But maybe Cupid has it wrong. Maybe she has to rely just a little bit on Cupid, and a whole lot more on her heart.

Book Review: A Little Bit Cupid a sweet short holiday story that should be on everyone's must read list for Valentine's Day.

It's part fantasy, part romance and part fun.

Pheobe is a photographer who has a problem with hot coffee and that's to the son of cupid, she has a mission; to find true love before Valentine's Day or else. The or else is a biggie, love would be gone from the world.

Now who could imagine living in a world without love?

Yikes! (apologies for the pun)

The story basically reminds us that sometimes Mr. Right can be Mr. Wrong and in this case, you can't help but be glad that the guy you think is going to be Mr. Wrong ends out being just the opposite. Cal is everything you could possibly ask for in a Mr. Right. Oh and our heroine Pheobe is totally sweet, a good photographer that just happens to have really bad luck with men.

This was a short satisfying read that will leave you with a case of the warm fuzzies.

Entangled Publishing Book Tours: Jennifer Shirk - A Little Bit Cupid

Hi, all! Jennifer here!
Since my latest release  A LITTLE BIT CUPID takes place around Valentine's Day, I thought it'd be fun showcase my all-time favorite ROMANTIC songs. After all,  Valentine's Day is the most romantic day of the year. :-)
So here we go:
Jennifer's Top Ten Favorite Romantic Songs
10) "Somos Novios (It's Impossible)" by Andrea Bocelli & Christina Aguilera (yes, most of it is in another language, but trust me. It's romantic and makes me want to go to Europe with my honeybunny)
9) "When You Say You Love Me" by Josh Groban  (gorgeous--and Josh's voice makes it more so)
8) "You Don't Know Me" by Ray Charles (ah...unrequited love...)
7) "(How Little it Matters) How Little We Know" by Frank Sinatra  (I had to add a Frankie song to the list!)
6) "Distance" by Christina Perri and Jason Mraz (more unrequited love because they're both afraid to tell each other how they feel. *sigh*)
5) "Let's Fall in Love" by Diana Krall (I love Diana Krall and she actually sings a lot of great love songs. This is my favorite)
4)"A Thousand Years" by Christina Perri (Yeah, I know it was used in one of the Twilight movies, but so lovely.)
3)"Fall" by Clay Walker (yes, I like an eclectic mix. This country song makes me melt)
2) "Nobody lives without love" by Eddi Reader (More eclectic stuff for you. They played this song on GH for Brenda and Jax years ago . I thought it fit them perfectly. Very romantic.)
1) "Our Love is Here to Stay" by Harry Connick Jr (My Wedding Song! The MOST romantic, of course.)
Hey, thanks for making it to the bottom of the list. :)
As you can see, I like a variety of music.
What's YOUR favorite romantic song?
