HAPPY MEAL THROUGH THE YEARS

 Since 1979, McDonald’s Happy Meals have combined quality food choices with exciting toys and games, creating lasting memories for generations of families, fun for kids and inspiration for collectors.

 Happy Meal promotions have always reflected the newest trends in toyland, including kids’ and collectors’ favorite characters from today’s blockbuster films or year-to-year favorites like Barbie™ and Hot Wheels®.

 McDonald’s has also evolved its Happy Meal menu. In 1984, Chicken McNuggets® were introduced to the menu and have been a favorite since.

 In April 2004, McDonald’s USA became the first national restaurant chain to offer apple slice packages as a side choice for children, and the first to do so on a national scale, which helped transform the apple industry and expanded the market for convenient and easy, apple slice packs.

 In March 2012, McDonald’s USA introduced a new Happy Meal bundle that automatically included sliced apples and a smaller, kid-sized fry. Since 2012, McDonald’s USA has served more than 1.5 billion packages of apple slices in kids’ meals.

 In 2013, McDonald’s launched its Happy Meal Book program and by the end of 2016 had distributed more than 50 million Happy Meal books to children through donation & sales.

 In 2016, McDonald’s continued to raise the bar with New Chicken McNuggets now with no artificial preservatives, colors or flavors.

 With back-to-school season around the corner, McDonald’s is inviting customers to add Family Nights to your kids’ routines this fall.

 McDonald’s restaurants in Connecticut (excluding Fairfield County) and Western Massachusetts, are hosting Family Nights every Tuesday throughout the month of September.

 McDonald’s is committed to offering choices parents feel good about and creating opportunities to bring families together for fun, happy moments.

 Every Tuesday in September from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m., children 10 and under will get a FREE Happy
Meal with the purchase of an Extra Value Meal or Entrée Salad.

National Pumpkin Day Event With McDonald's At Sam Adams Park!! #McDsPumpkinParty

McDonald’s® Takes Over Sam Adams Park for National Pumpkin Day Event

McDonald’s of Eastern New England will be distributing free pumpkin muffins and McCafé coffee from 8-11 a.m. on 10/26

This fall, McDonald’s of Eastern New England announced the launch of its latest breakfast treat: freshly baked muffins! The newest addition to McDonald’s All Day Breakfast lineup, these muffins are a perfect companion to coffee, a great dessert and a quick-and-easy mid-morning or afternoon treat. To celebrate, McDonald’s is excited to invite the local community to participate in an exciting and festive fall event on National Pumpkin Day to taste the pumpkin muffins (along with McCafé coffee!) firsthand.

WHO: McDonald’s of Eastern New England

WHAT: Free samples of McDonald’s new pumpkin muffins and McCafé coffee to celebrate National Pumpkin Day. The event will have many festive fall visuals like a vintage 1983 Airstream trailer, expertly carved pumpkins, hay bales, a candy corn counting contest (to win free fries for a year!) and more.

McDonald's Kids In The Kitchen Day Event! #McDKidsintheKitchen @McDEasternNE

McDonald's has been a tasty treat for myself for many years now!!  When I was a kid, we were always so excited when my parents would take us.  Our favorite time to go was around Halloween and we would get our Happy Meals in those really cool Halloween themed buckets.  We had witches, Frankenstein, and Dracula!!  

I remember this one time we went to McDonald's and on our way home, our car broke down.  At the time my Dad was in the hospital, so we were given a ride home by a police man.  It was so cool riding home in a police car.  It was my Mom, two Sisters, Brother and doggie Vinni.  

Now McDonald's was a rare treat for us, so we savored it immensely.  When we arrived home, my siblings and I sat at the coffee table in the living room while my Mom called my Dad to see how he was doing and to let him know what happened.  I laid my cheeseburger out on the table, got my fries out of the box, and of course had to check out my toy!!  I turned my head for two seconds, and my evil doggie Vinni, grabbed my burger and ran.  Of course he ate the whole thing!!

Obviously that event has traumatized me still to this day at least 20 years later!!  

I want my kids to have fond memories of childhood with McDonald's like I do, except without the dog eating their Happy Meal!!

This past week, the boys and I were invited to attend a fun filled event with McDonald's out in Natick MA.  The event was titled McDonald's Kids In The Kitchen. 

When we arrived we were greeted by an awesome table that lights up and of course some awesome people too!!

This is Sara Amin.  She is a Nutritionist who explained to the kids how you need daily servings of Dairy, Grains, Protein, Fruits and Veggies for a healthy diet.  She did it in such a fun way, that I don't think the kids realized they were learning!!  She had them interact and participate by naming certain foods, and even playing Simon Says!!

After being taught about the healthy food groups, the kids got to decorate their own lunch boxes.  My boys who love arts and crafts, had so much fun doing this!!  Doug has been carrying his box around with him everywhere since he made it!!

While we waited for the lunchboxes to dry, the kids were given the opportunity to make their own lunch!!  Now this was the highlight for me!!  The kids were given a piece of lettuce, and a ton of fixings to make their own wrap!!  It was such a simple concept, but something that made my boys very happy!!  

We've never made these ourselves before, so they went crazy!!  They added cheese, cucumbers, tomatoes, BBQ sauce, Italian Dressing and of course Chicken McNuggets.  They loved it and ate every bite!!  We have made them at home twice since.  

All in all, my boys had a blast, and I was happy to learn all about how McDonald's is still striving to give kids and parents healthy food options, and constantly improving their classic menu items, like how their Chicken McNuggets are now 100% free of preservatives!!

· Chicken

o   The Artisan Grilled Chicken Sandwich and Premium Grilled Chicken Bacon Clubhouse Sandwich are made with 100% chicken breast filet with no preservatives and are seared right in McDonald’s kitchens

o   The Premium Crispy Chicken Bacon Clubhouse Sandwich is made of a tender and juicy chicken breast filet

o   McChicken sandwiches are made with a filet that’s made with a blend of dark and white meat chicken, so it’s juicy and flavorful

o   McDonald’s works with three dedicated Chicken McNugget suppliers: Keystone Foods, Tyson and Dorada – all located in the U.S., in states such as Tennessee, North Carolina and Georgia

o   McDonald’s has committed to using chicken that is not raised with antibiotics important to human medicine. McDonald’s has been working closely with farmers for years to reduce the use of antibiotics in our supply, thus are able to commit to stop using said antibiotics for McDonald’s USA by March 2017


· Eggs

o   McDonald’s cracks USDA Grade A fresh eggs into an ‘egg ring’ which forms the iconic round shape for the Egg McMuffin


· Beef

o   McDonald’s uses 100% beef that is ground, formed into patties and then flash frozen

o   Flash freezing is when beef is freshly ground and then quickly frozen to seal in flavor. From there, it usually takes about two to three weeks until the burger is served from the day it was formed

o   McDonald’s burgers are made with no additives or preservatives; just seasoned with a pinch of salt and pepper when cooked


· Potatoes

o   The potatoes used for McDonald’s World Famous Fries are made from varieties including Russet Burbank, Ranger Russet, Umatilla Russet and the Shepody

o   The suppliers McDonald’s works with first peel, cut and blanch the potatoes. They then dry, partially fry and flash freeze the fries for restaurants. Once in kitchens, the fries are cooked in a Canola blend oil so that they are served crispy and hot


· Produce

o   McDonald’s finds most of the leafy greens for salads right here in the U.S., but some come from Mexico, too

o   The majority of McDonald’s lettuce comes from farms in the U.S., supplemented with a small amount imported from Mexico

o   McDonald’s uses three kinds of lettuce in its Premium Salads — Romaine and Iceberg for crunch, and Spring Mix for flavor

o   Tomatoes originate in Florida, the Carolinas, California and Mexico

All Day Breakfast is the No. 1 request from customers. In fact, more than 120,000 people tweeted McDonald’s asking for breakfast throughout the day in the past year alone.

The All Day Breakfast Menu is part of McDonald’s effort to offer customers the option to enjoy breakfast anytime they want while providing a great variety of quality ingredients and menu items. 

To welcome the new All Day Breakfast program, McDonald's would like you to join them at a fun Pajama party!!

The All Day Breakfast PJ Party is to celebrate the launch of Breakfast All Day!!  You can get free Egg McMuffins, and McCafe' Coffee!!!  There will also be a ton of fun games and prizes to win!!!  Anyone who comes in wearing their P'J's or if you are a college student, your college sweatshirt, t-shirt etc, gets an extra special prize!!

You can join McDonald's for the party at Boston City Hall Plaza on Friday, October 16th from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

McDonald's New Lobster Roll Is Delicious!! #LobsterMe @McD_CTWMA

A classic New England favorite is here for summer! Participating McDonald’s will offer Lobster Rolls, which feature 100% real North Atlantic lobster sourced from the North Atlantic Canadian waters and mayonnaise dressing layered on a bed of crisp leaf and shredded lettuce served on a home-style toasted roll.

• The Lobster Roll will be available in New England from late June to mid-August at participating Connecticut & Western Massachusetts McDonald’s restaurants (excluding Fairfield County, Conn.).

• At 290 calories and a price point of $7.99, it’s shore to satisfy taste buds.

• During the Lobster Roll promotion, customers can order a salad topped with the Lobster Roll filling.

• New England McDonald’s restaurants serving the Lobster Roll include those in Maine, New Hampshire, Massachusetts, Rhode Island & Connecticut (excluding Vermont and Fairfield County, Conn.)

We had to check out the rolls for ourselves, so we hit our local McDonald's for dinner.

The lobster was very tasty, juicy and moist.  It was cool and refreshing.  

My Husband and I both agree that we wish it had more lobster in it, but other wise it was really good, and we can't wait to have another!!

McDonald's Happy Meals Now Offer Cuties!! @McDEasternNE #McDHappyHoliday Gift Card ~~Giveaway~~

McDonald’s USA is making nutrition choices fun and easy for families with the introduction of its fresh, whole fruit side option in kids’ meals – Cuties California Clementines.

Beginning December 1, 2014, customers nationwide can choose to enjoy Cuties as a side in Happy Meals and Mighty Kids Meals, as well as “a la carte,” or just purchasing the side option itself.

We all can benefit from a variety of wholesome foods and nutrients in our diets every day to help keep us strong, healthy and performing at peak levels. That's why McDonald’s is constantly looking at their menu to ensure its giving their customers (including the youngest guests) a selection of balanced choices.

I am so happy and proud that McDonald's is doing their part to make choices in their meals healthier!!  My boys are happy about it too!!  They love Go-Gurt, and now another terrific treat, the Cutie makes it's way into their favorite meal!!

We went to our local McDonald's the other day to check out the new sides!!

No the coffees are not for the kids, those are mine!!  My boys were so excited to have the "mini orange" in their boxes.  Plus the toys right now are pretty cool.  You can get penguins from The Penguins Of Madagascar movie!!  

With the holiday's here, and so much time being spent out shopping, and just being in the car, eating out is a lot more common.  

I know for myself, my time is extremely limited right now.  Running a business, doing all the shopping, taking two kids back and forth to school and all of their activities, and trying to maintain a somewhat clean home, makes things stressful.  Sometimes I just need some relax/down time where cooking is not needed.  That is where McDonald's comes in.

My kids are getting a little too big for the standard Happy Meal.  They like the Mighty Kids Meal.  They still get the toys (which they love) and they get plenty to eat!!

Kids can choose between Cuties, Yoplait Go-GURT, Apple Slices or Fries as their sides, and 1% low-fat milk, 1% low-fat chocolate milk, 100% apple juice as their drink.

The Cuties are only available for a limited time (fresh fruit growing season,) so make sure you enjoy them now while you can!!

Oh and don't forget that the Happy Meal is selling for $2.99 right now, and the Mighty Kids Meal for $3.99.  A great deal, for a terrific meal!!
