Safety 1st wants your children to be safe in every vehicle.  Did you know that car seats have an expiration date??  I honestly did not know that, and was very surprised that two of our car seats were expired.

While at the event, there was a car seat check station for you to bring your seats to, and have professionals make sure it is safe, not expired, and installed properly.

As some of you may know, I have two children.  Both were born very premature.  Ben Jr was only 1 lb 7 oz when he was born, and he spent 86 days in the hospital.  Doug was only 2 lbs 2 oz, and spent 64 days in the hospital.  Those were very scary days for us.  

With Ben Jr, we had no idea what was going to happen.  The doctors did not either.  We were told that he could have any number of problems from brain damage, to cancer.  We spent each day measuring his weight in grams.  It took almost a month after he was born before we were even allowed to hold him.  During his time in the hospital, we learned about every type of oxygen machine out there, learned what all the numbers mean on hospital monitors, and watched many feeding tubes be re-inserted after little fingers removed them!!

With Doug, I don't want to say things were easier, but in a sense they were because we knew the drill.  Doug's birth was not as hard, and with him it only took about two weeks before we could hold him.  Doug had a much better APGAR score when he was born, but he did need to be on oxygen longer then Ben.  The longer you are on oxygen, the greater chance you have of long term complications.  We were very lucky that he did not have any long term issues.  Doug did have a hernia, and because he only weighed 4 lbs 10 oz when he came home, we needed to wait a month before he could have the surgery needed.  He then had to go back to the hospital and spend another two days.  

We owe a lot to our hospital for everything they did for both boys, especially considering they are 100% healthy now!!  Ben Jr is 10 years old, and Doug is 7 years old.

From obvious personal experience, we know how scary it is to have a child in the hospital.  We also know how hard the nurses, and doctors work to make your child better.  Ben Sr and I make a point to donate to the Children's Miracle Network every year on each child's birthday.  My parents also make donations.  Now it is easier then ever for you to help out a great cause.  The next time you are out shopping at Walmart or Sams Club, please make a donation.  Every bit helps!!  Thank you!!

My favorite feature of this car seat is of course the fact that it grows with your child.  We tested the seat out with both Doug who still needs a booster seat, and the newest contributing baby to my website, my niece Allison!

Doug loved how comfortable the seat is, and of course the two cup holders!  Ben Sr and I love how easy it was to convert it to a toddler booster seat.  All you have to do is pull the handle at the top of the seat up.

Allie was not as big of a fan at first.  I think it was because she was only one week old, and not use to car seats yet.  

Once I told her that the car seat had cup holders, she started to like it!

Converting the seat between infants that need to lay down, and bigger kids that can sit up is super easy as well.  

The base is designed to make adjusting the position of the seat simple for parents to use with just one hand, but still very sturdy to keep your children safe.

This car seat is a little bit bigger then some of the standard car seats out there, but it is very light weight compared to other brands of grow with your child seats.

Claessens' Kids Kid'Sleep Moon Sleep Trainer

A DAD’S INVENTION FOR HIS CHILDREN

One nice morning in the summer of 2000, Bastien, the oldest son of Vincent Claessens, called his father to tell him he had finished sleeping. It was… 5.30 a.m.! That is how the Claessens’Kids adventure began!

Vincent Claessens, who is the father of  6 small children (Bastien, Arthur, Zoé, Fanny, Inès and Jade), and the founder of Claessens’Kids, then discovered that many parents face the same problem he had: young children often get up too early!

Kids hear and see things early in the morning (the sun, birds chirping, etc.) that seem to indicate to them that it is time to get up long before it is truly time to get up.   And by the way, which adult has never been embarrassed when on a particular morning he did not have a watch to indicate that he could still get some… or even a lot of sleep!
The solution!

Encouraged by this finding, Vincent Claessens invented the Kid’Sleep, the first nightlight with an alarm display for children. In a playful and educational way, it solves this problem that every very young child has: is it really time to get up or do I have to sleep a bit longer?

With the Kid'Sleep Moon Sleep Trainer, I have choices for the sounds that alert the kids it's OK to wake up, and I have the option to change the brightness on the screen.  The boys still need a night light, and this is perfect.  We use the most dim setting so it doesn't keep them awake, but it gives them enough light to see to get up to use the potty. 

The pictures on the front are split in half.  The top half is a daylight scene, and the bottom half is a night scene.  The boys know that if the night scene is still lit, then it is not time to get up!!

For 65 years, we've been creating magical baby smiles from one generation to another, and bonds that last a lifetime.

Ah that baby smell.  I am pretty sure most people go gaga for it!!  Even though my babies are older, I still use baby shampoo products on them, hoping that I can prolong their babyness!!

National Night Out Comes To Agawam On Tuesday August 2nd!! #AirProtectTour #Safety1st

Air Protect Tour Stops in Agawam for Child Passenger Safety Event and National Night Out

Safety 1st, Allstate Insurance Company, and Safe Kids of Western MA join Agawam Police Department for free car seat inspections, live music, and giveaways

WHAT: Dorel Juvenile, a segment of Dorel Industries (TSX: DII.B, DII.A), and the world’s largest juvenile products manufacturer announced Safety 1st and Allstate Insurance Company are taking the “On the Road with Air Protect Tour” to Agawam, MA and will join the Agawam police department for National Night Out. Families can participate in an interactive and entertaining community event to help protect the city’s children and enhance the relationship between law enforcement and neighbors.


Event will include:

**Child safety seat checks by Safe Kids Worldwide Western Massachusetts car seat technicians

**A giant inflatable tunnel for attendees to walk through to receive:
