POPES & BANKERS by JACK CASHILL REVIEW
~~~Thanks to Booksneeze, I got to read and review this book.~~~
I picked the book to read, because it sounded very interesting. I loved Law in High school and Economics in College so I figured this would be a great read for me.
"The first accessible, upbeat, engaging and even amusing history of the endlessly fascinating topic of credit and debt, which has shaped civilization in ways even bankers cannot begin to imagine.
It is altogether appropriate that the term applied to today’s economic woes is “credit crunch.” When banks stop lending, even to each other, and when no amount of interest can prompt them, the gears of the world’s civilization grind to an ungodly halt. Crunch! From Plato to payday loans, from the Council of Nicea to the Al Qaeda Reader, and from Shylock to Hitler’s Mein Kampf, Jack Cashill’s Popes and Bankers relates the colorful and contentious story of how this unlikely lubricant helped create the greatest civilization that the world has ever known, even if today its gears are grinding."
I tried and tried to enjoy this book, but I found it very hard to read. The Author uses ALOT of big words, that I had to look up in the dictionary.
He also had alot of footnotes that weren't included on the page. The Author makes you flip to the back of the book. That made the book even less enjoyable.
From what I could understand without help, I found the information interesting. The Author goes as far back as to BC and talks about Usury (an old term for loans)
He also gets into the current day to day problems with the economy and banks. I especially like his chapter on Dave Ramsey, who is one of mine and my Husband's idols!!!
I think this would have been truly enjoyable for average Joe's like me, if he used more Lehman's terms!!!
~~~I was given a copy of this book free to review, but all opinions expressed are 100% mine~~~
SURVIVOR FANTASY GAME
Poor Rubert. He tried to warn them that Russell was bad and they wouldn't believe him. Now J.T is gone!!
Russell is not happy with Pavarti!!
I hope Russell is wrong and Candace isn't that big of an idiot and flip!!
Yeah Colby did really well for once!! I am soooo glad he won the reward challenge!!!
Danielle found the clue for the Hidden immunity. I love how Amanda tried to fight her for it.
I cant believe Colby didn't help. He should of at least said "Lets all read the clue together"
I guess Amanda had no choice but to give the clue back.
Good for Russell finding it first. I don't like Danielle.
I understand Russell's logic to branch out, but I am not sure why he picked Candace.
Oh I really hope Sandra is flipping. I don't want to see a villain win.
The tower challenges are really hard!!
Good Job for Jerri. She did that tower really quickly. My hands would shake too much for me to do that challenge!!!!
I cant believe Candace. What the heck is she thinking?? She is an idiot!!
I am betting Parvati and Danielle are going to be ticked about Russell with that Idol!!
Man that ticks me off getting rid of Amanda. The first time the Hero's had a chance for a come back and they blew it all because of Sandra being a liar and Candace flipping.
Poor Colby and Rupert are next. AHHHHHHH that makes me mad!!!
So on that note I need to say goodbye to Half Stitched.

QUICK AND FUNNY CURRENT EVENT!!
I thought this was interesting, so I had to share. Stuff like this never happens to me!!!

AOL News (April 26) -- On a remote wooded path in North Carolina on Friday, a 65-year-old woman took a solitary hike. Little did she know she'd meet President Barack Obama and the first lady along the way.
The chance encounter happened when Westerville, Ohio, resident Karen Russell was hiking the Mountains-to-Sea Trail just off the Blue Ridge Parkway, Asheville's Citizen-Times newspaper reported.
Karen Russell, of Westerville, Ohio, had a chance encounter with the president and first lady while hiking just off the Blue Ridge Parkway in North Carolina on Friday.
"It was just a little nondescript trail that I was on," Russell told the Citizen-Times, "and I didn't expect to find anybody there really, let alone the president."
The Obamas had landed in Asheville that same day to catch a weekend vacation. The presidential motorcade had driven the Blue Ridge Parkway for about 15 minutes when the first couple decided to get out and take an hour long hike.
Russell, who had also come to North Carolina on vacation, had already been on her trail for an hour when she noticed the cars on the parkway below. Then, in the middle of the forest, two Secret Service agents approached her.
After asking Russell if she minded being checked with a metal detector, the agents made sure her camera was real and not a concealed weapon. Once cleared, Russell could scarcely believe who she saw next.
"And then I probably went 10 feet and I couldn't believe it," she told the Citizen-Times. "I just looked up and I said something really stupid, like, 'Are you who I think you are? You are!' "
The Obamas shook her hand, and stopped to chat for a moment before wishing her well and continuing on their way.
"Talk about a strange meeting of time and space," said Russell, who told the president she had voted and campaigned for him in Ohio. "I was ecstatic, I really was."

TRIVIA TUESDAY GAME WEEK 9
Congratulations to Erin at Buster Mama last week. She doubled her money. Good luck this week everyone!!
As most of you know by now, I am a HUGE GAME FAN!!!! I love to play games of all kinds.
Each week I am going to post a couple questions from my Trivial Pursuit Game (the 80's version!!!)
As most of you know by now, I am a HUGE GAME FAN!!!! I love to play games of all kinds.
Sunday's we go candle pin bowling at the local alley. It's great because it's .50 cents a game!!!
Other days we stay at home and play Risk, Uno, Play Station 2 or Wii.
Before kids, My Husband and I and best friend Chris would play Risk through the night. We were soooooo competitive!!! I was always evil and made secret alliances with both Ben (my Husband) and Chris. We would take turns ganging up on each other. I always seemed too loose though!! :(
I am also an 80's child. I love everything to do with the 80's including trivia!!
So in spirit of my blog title, lets have some more FUN!!!!
I personally love to play games, and win prizes. So I am going to combine the two!!
My question to you all is, Who wants to win a buck or two??
Each week I am going to post a couple questions from my Trivial Pursuit Game (the 80's version!!!)
The first person to comment on the post with the correct answers will win $1!!
Now I know what you are thinking. Wow a whole dollar!! I can retire!!!!
I cant just leave it at that. So we are going to make it a little more interesting.
The person who answers the trivia questions correctly first, will have the chance to double their money!!!
If they want to take a chance, I will give them another trivia question. If they get the answer right (they are the only ones allowed to answer) then they double their winnings to $2!!!
If they get the answer wrong, they loose all winnings. :(
OK, again I know what you are thinking. All this work just for $2??
Not Quite!!!
I am going to play this game for 12 weeks ending on May 18th.
Now the person who wins the most, will also get another prize at the end of the game!!! I haven't decided what yet, but I will let you know.
How does that sound??
Now I do have to post some rules. (Sorry!!)
1. You MUST be a Follower of my blog (I will check)
2. An EMAIL address HAS to be in your comment (I need to contact you if you win) If it isn't in your comment, then you answers are void. I hate to see you do all that work and not even have a chance to win!!! So please make sure your email is there!!!
3. If you choose to DOUBLE your money, you have TWO HOURS to respond with an answer to the next trivia question, that will be EMAILED to you. If you don't respond with-in that time frame, I have to assume you don't know the answer. I will do my best to post at the same time each week, so you know when to expect the trivia questions!!
4. If you DOUBLE your money, and win, that counts as two wins. So at the end of the game, if you win twice, and double twice, you have 4 entries in the final prize!!
5. Have fun!!! I know I will!!!!
So here are this weeks Trivia Questions. Good luck!!!! I will give you one question from each category on the Trivial Pursuit Card. The Wild Card question will be saved for the winner if they choose to Double!!!!
1. (Headlines) Who administered the Oath of Office at both of Ronald Reagan's inaugurations?
2. (T.V) Which Love Boat character was surprised to find he had a love child named Vicki?
3. (Movies) What Tim Burton film did Warner Bros. consider distributing under the title Scared Sheetless?
4. (Music) What John Cougar ditty told a tale of "two American kids growing up in the heartland?"
5. (Sports and Leisure) Who fanned Rickey Henderson in 1989, to chalk up his 5,000th career strikeout?
Good Luck!!!!!

HAS ANYONE HEARD OF FLAKELET.COM?
I received an email from a lady at flakelet.com to see if I would be interrested in having them sponsor my blog.
I went to their site, and from what I understand, I would make posts about articles they write, and they would advertise my site as doing the post on 2000 other blog sites.
Here is part of the email she sent-
"Every day, we write in-depth articles on a number of topics. We will be happy to let you use our articles for free either:
1. “as is”
2. You can change them as much (or as little) as you wish and you will own the copyright
3. As a starting point for your own writing
Furthermore, anytime you use our content, we will promote your site across our network of 2,000+ blogs.
The only thing we ask in return is a single link to our sponsor, because that’s what pays for our efforts.
The database of our articles is at www.flakelet.com, where you can also learn more about how we work. You can find lots of original, unique and interesting articles on various topics that you can use of.
This is a free offer and a great opportunity to increase traffic with no cost at all and in an effortless way. Should you decide to accept our offer for free use of articles, the procedures are found at flakelet.com."
Has anyone worked with this company before?? I would like to have a little more information before I make a decision.
Thanks everyone for your help!!

Make Me Laugh Monday 4/26/10
These are really neat. This is an artist who makes Origami out of dollar bills!!
Origami is the traditional Japanese art of paper folding. The goal of this art is to create a representation of an object using geometric folds and crease patterns preferably without the use of gluing or cutting the paper, and using only one piece of paper.
Won Park is the master of Origami. He is also called the "money folder", a practitioner of origami whose canvas is the United States One Dollar Bill.
Bending, twisting, and folding, he creates life-like shapes in stunning detail.

AMAZING RACE FANTASY GAME
Wow I didn't realize that Singapore was one of the richest cities in the world.
That town they visited in China was pretty.
The noodle challenge looked like fun.
The World's Shortest Man looked really really short!!!
Poor Michael and Louie, and Dan and Jordan. That does hurt big time when you have a cab driver that has no clue where to go.
Jet was really good at making pasta!!! That looked really hard.
I liked seeing Jet and Cord trying to find the clothes!! That was cute!!
I really like how the final four teams are nice to each other. They really show each other alot of respect. That's how everyone should play!!
Oh my god that puzzle challenge looked really really hard. 96 pieces!! Ouch!!!
That was horrible when Brent and Cord's pieces went flying. You would think that the puzzle pieces would be heavier so that wouldn't happen.
Wow the Science Museum is huge, the size of 15 Football Fields!!
Sweet prize going to Alaska for Jet and Cord. I would love to go there!!!
Poor Michael and Louie. Phil is soooooooooooo mean!!!! I am glad they are not out yet. I really like those two!!!
So on that note, I don't have to say good bye to anyone!!! Yeah!!!
That was sad to see that the World's Smallest Man passed away.

MOHAWK DINER REVIEW
This morning my Husband, Kids and I decided to try a new place for Breakfast. There's this cute little Diner in Shelburne Falls, MA called The Mohawk Diner. It is a very small place (8 tables!!) with a counter in the middle to sit at as well (6 stools.)
We had a little bit of a wait (10 minutes) but well worth it. The waitress was very friendly and accommodating.
My Husband ordered Eggs Benedict, and I ordered the Big Breakfast. My meal came with two eggs, hash browns, toast, bacon, sausage, ham, and french toast!!! No I am not a pig, and I did not finish all of my breakfast!!!
Little Ben ordered a pancake and bacon. The cook was soo nice, they made the pancake to look like Mickey Mouse!!!
The food was excellent. Very fresh and not greasy like some diners are!!
We greatly enjoyed our meal, and for the large amounts of food we ordered and got, it only cost us $30.
So if you are ever in this area (Western MA) stop by and have a great meal at The Mohawk Diner.

SURVIVOR FANTASY GAME
Sorry this is late. I couldn't get the remote away from the 4 yr old and then the Husband!!!
I am still sooooooo mad at J.T. I cant believe he gave that idol away!!!
Now here comes the merge!!
I cant believe how much of a cry baby Parvati is. What does she expect? When you are evil, people will treat you like you are evil!!
I am glad that Sandra said something. I don't want the hero's blindsided!!
J.T. needs to wake up, and Amanda needs to grow a brain and think for herself!!!
I am glad Rupert is testing the waters and making sure they are safe. Very smart!!
I really don't like Amanda. I think she is an idiot.
Parvati was stupid for admitting about that idol.
I like the more complicated challenges. The Poles just look painful!!
Candace is an idiot too. If she won the last time, she should have stayed in.
I would have been leery if I saw Parvati, who supposedly is scared to go home, just give up like that.
These mind games are driving me nuts!! I cant keep up!!!
I love how Coach and Courtney are trying to figure out the game!!
I am shaking waiting for the decision!!
Oh crap, I cant believe Parvati pulled that. Giving the idols to Sandra and Jerri.
Poor J.T. I am shocked!! WOW!!!
What a game!!
On that note I have to say goodbye to

I AM A GIRL!!!
OK, I know I am stating the obvious. Yes, I am a girl. But I didn't realize how much of a girl I was until I sat down and balled my eyes out over a movie!!! Oh and the best part is, I have seen the movie a dozen times!!!
Now mind you it is a spectacular movie, and very, very sad, but still. I am supposed to be an adult right!!!
If you love musicals, and haven't seen The Phantom Of The Opera (2004 version with Gerard Butler) I recommend seeing it right away.
I have read the manuscript, seen the Broadway play, and of course seen the movie. Each has a slightly different ending. The movie makes you feel really bad for The Phantom. Plus it doesn't help that even though he is disfigured, he is still very very good looking!!
Oh and I don't just cry over movies. I cry over books too!! James Patterson's- Sunday's at Tiffany's is a real tear jerker. It is a James Patterson type book with romance!! Completely different from his usual murder mysteries. It has such a sad ending that you cant help but cry. I have read the book four times, and still cry even though I know the ending!!!!
Now does anyone else have this girly problem, or am I just OVER SENSITIVE??

BLOG BUTTON ISSUES
Ok, I made a boo boo!!! Some how my Favorite Blog Buttons, are not showing on my site anymore. I don't know what I did. I am working on it, and I will have them back up soon.
For anyone who I entered giveaways with, I promise you that if I said I have your button, I do. I just need to get them back up.
I did try putting as many as I could on the My Favorite Blog's page. It looks horrible, but they are there.
Hopefully this will be taken care of soon!!
Sorry!!!!

TRIVIA TUESDAY GAME WEEK 8
As most of you know by now, I am a HUGE GAME FAN!!!! I love to play games of all kinds.
Each week I am going to post a couple questions from my Trivial Pursuit Game (the 80's version!!!)
1. (Headlines) What new name did the Eastern Shuttle get, once Frank Lorenzo's Eastern Airlines sold it off?
2. (T.V) What short lived All in the Family spinoff starred Sally Struthers as a veterinarian's assistant?
3. (Movies) Who was unable to pick up his first Oscar statuette for Best Supporting Actor because he was stuck in Nassau filming Jaws IV: The Revenge?
4. (Music) Who did Quincy Jones call in to play the famed guitar solo on Michael Jackson's Beat it?
5. (Sports and Leisure) What jockey rode Lord Farkle to the first of her more then 3,000 wins, in 1981?
Good Luck!!!!!
Sarah
