NYPD Officers Hospitalized After Drinking Shake Shack Milkshakes Tainted With Bleach


Manhattan. The NYPD is investigating a possible intentional poisoning at Shake Shack in lower Manhattan, after three cops complained of a funny taste believed to have had bleach in it when drinking a milkshake bought from the chain's location at Fulton Street & Broadway in lower Manhattan just after 8pm.

NYPD Re-Erects Plaque in Memory of Two Fallen Detectives, Killed During Boro Park Robbery, at 66th Precinct




New York City Police Commissioner Bill Bratton on Monday unveiled a rededicated plaque honoring two brave NYPD detectives who were killed in the line of duty during an armed robbery in the Borough Park neighborhood of Brooklyn 53 years ago, at a ceremony in front of the NYPD’s 66th Precinct in Brooklyn.

Kiryas Joel EMS named top EMS agency of the year in Orange County



KIRYAS JOEL – The Village of Kiryas Joel volunteer emergency service will be recognized as the EMS agency of the year by the Orange County Emergency Medical Services council at its annual dinner on Wednesday. The Orange County EMS Council is a non-profit organization serving 24 emergency medical services in the county.

FDNY Marks Record-Setting Year for Emergency Responses



Mayor Bill de Blasio and Fire Commissioner Daniel A. Nigro announced on Dec. 16 that Fire Department personnel responded to a record number of emergency calls in 2014, which likely will exceed 1.6 million by Dec. 31 the highest total ever in the agency’s 149-year history.

NYSP Release Results Of “Speed Week” Campaign



From August 6 through August 12, 2014, the New York State Police issued 22,176 tickets, more than 10,000 of them for speeding during “Speed Week”.

During the campaign, the New York State Police targeted speeding and aggressive drivers across the state.

During the campaign in Troop T, a Trooper stopped a speeding motorcycle on I-87 in the town of Athens for driving 129 in a 65 mph zone. Roddy Yagan, 23, of Liverpool, was ticketed and also charged with reckless driving, a misdemeanor.

Former NYPD Chief Of Dept. Joseph Esposito To Be Appointed To Head OEM

Mayor de Blasio is set to appoint Joseph Esposito — who retired in 2013 as the NYPD’s highest ranking officer — to head the city’s Office of Emergency Management, sources told The Post.

The popular former chief of department ended his 44-year career with the Police Department last March at 63, the mandatory retirement age for uniformed police officers.

But he said at the time that he wasn’t entirely ready to call it quits.

NYSP To Use Social Media As A Tool To Locate And Arrest Wanted Individuals

Governor Andrew M. Cuomo announced Wednesday that the New York State Police will use social media to catch wanted individuals across the state. State Police will launch “Warrant Wednesday” on the Division’s Facebook page asking for the public’s help to track down people who have warrants out for arrest.

Beginning February 5, the New York State Police will implement the new, statewide initiative. Each Wednesday, wanted posters will be added to the NYSP Facebook page featuring posters of wanted persons with arrest or bench warrants from across New York State. Previous wanted postings on the State Police Facebook page, and the public’s assistance, have led to the identification and arrest of several individuals.

William J. Bratton Sworn In As NYPD Commissionor


New York - William Bratton is officially taking the reins of the nation’s largest police department, becoming the 42nd police commissioner at a time when there is a demand for big change, especially in the area of stop-and-frisk.

The city’s new police commissioner was publicly sworn in by Mayor Bill de Blasio at One Police Plaza on Thursday.

NY State Trooper Dies Following MVA On The NYS Thruway


Albany - New York State Police Superintendent Joseph A. D’Amico is saddened to announce the death of Trooper David W. Cunniff. Trooper Cunniff was last assigned to Troop T, Fultonville.

On December 17, 2013, Trooper Cunniff succumbed to injuries sustained during a motor vehicle accident on the New York State Thruway. Shortly after 8:00 pm on December 16, Trooper Cunniff was conducting a traffic stop when he was struck by a tractor trailer.

Ray Kelly Wants 6 Detective Detail When He Leaves Office



NEW YORK CITY - Outgoing Police Commissioner Raymond Kelly wants to take half a dozen detectives to protect him and his family after he leaves the NYPD, DNAinfo New York has learned.

Citing the fact that he will remain a “high profile target” after he leaves office, Kelly informed insiders at Police Headquarters that he will request the contingent of detectives — each will remain on the city payroll making about $120,000 a year — to shepherd him around town and protect him and his family during their travels, sources told “On the Inside.”

FDNY Opens EMS Station 35 In Greenpoint

Brooklyn - Members of the FDNY opened a new, state-of-the-art facility on Sept. 30, the new EMS Station 35 in Greenpoint, Brooklyn.

“This is your new home,” Fire Commissioner Salvatore Cassano said. “But the most vital part of it is you, the members. I’m proud of the work you’ve done, the work you do and the work you will do in the future.”
Chief of EMS Abdo Nahmod added, “I look forward to your future success here.”

NYPD September 11th Memorial Tribute


The following members of the service died in the line of duty on September 11th, 2001.
Twenty-three New York City Police Officers died in the line of duty on September 11, 2001 as they responded to the terrorist attack on the World Trade Center. The commands that lost members that day included the Emergency Service Unit, Squads 1, 2, 3, 4, 7, 8 and 10; the 6, 13 and 40 Precincts; the Bomb Squad; Transit Bureau District 4; Traffic Control Division; and the Police Academy Video Production Unit.

Over 250 Illegal Guns Sold In Undercover NYPD Investigation: 19 Indicted

New York City Special Narcotics Prosecutor BRIDGET G. BRENNAN, New York City Police Commissioner RAYMOND W. KELLY, New York City Mayor MICHAEL R. BLOOMBERG, Manhattan District Attorney CYRUS R. VANCE, Jr., Kings County District Attorney CHARLES J. HYNES, Chief of Police RONNIE YARBOROUGH, of the Sanford, N.C. Police Department, and Chief of Police CHRIS WATTS, of the Rock Hill, S.C. Police Department, announced today the indictment and arrest of 19 members of two loosely-organized gun trafficking groups that illegally funneled firearms from North and South Carolina into New York City, where the black market guns fetch at least three times their original price. The undercover investigation by the New York City Police Department's (NYPD) Firearms Investigation Unit (FIU) resulted in 254 guns being removed from the streets of New York City.

NYPD Chief Of Dept Joseph Esposito Retires

The NYPD's highest-ranking officer and third in command retired today from the force after more than 40 years.

Chief Joseph Esposito has won praise and respect for his leadership style and ability to defuse heated situations. He's also credited with reducing crime and introducing new policing strategies.
Esposito has been chief for more than 12 years, longer than any of his predecessors. He was appointed in 2000.
He's known as a "cop's cop" who rose through the ranks.

Mayor Michael Bloomberg on Wednesday noted that Esposito managed the NYPD's response to some of the city's most difficult events, from the Sept. 11 terrorist attack to Superstorm Sandy and its aftermath.
Esposito said he had no immediate plans. He turns 63 on Thursday, the force's mandatory retirement age.

No news really is good news -- not a single person was reported shot, stabbed or slashed in New York City on Monday, police sources said.

The shutout seemingly caught the NYPD by suprise, as officials were almost at a loss to explain it.

"Nice way to start the week," said Deputy Commissioner Paul Browne, the NYPD's top spokesman.
