Toys"R"Us Studios Brings Geoffrey's World Tour to YouTube with Launch of New Digital Series

Announces New Digital Limited YouTube Series with Nickelodeon

NEW YORK, March 31, 2023 -- Toys"R"Us®, the world's leading authority in toys and play, is bringing Geoffrey's World Tour to YouTube with the launch of two new digital series. Toys"R"Us Studios, the entertainment production arm of the global toy brand, is debuting its first original content series, Geoffrey's World Tour, a 10-episode digital show on the Toys"R"Us YouTube channel. The new series is a culmination of the brand's 360-degree global marketing campaign where mascot Geoffrey the Giraffe™ embarked on a multi-city tour across the globe.

In addition, Nickelodeon will create original content powered by Geoffrey's World Tour to test a kid's smarts and if they have the skills to stay clean in an upcoming 3-episode branded content series which is slated to launch late Spring on Nickelodeon's YouTube channel. Produced and developed by Paramount Brand Studio, the series will feature a contestant who will answer trivia questions and complete challenges derived from Geoffrey's globetrotting adventure. Answering a question right keeps the contestant clean, but wrong answers deliver ever escalating messy consequences that'll leave them shouting, "What a Mess" in the end.

Kim Miller, Global Chief Marketing Officer at Toys"R"Us and President of Toys"R"Us Studios stated, "We are thrilled to bring Geoffrey's World Tour to life and share the experience with millions of families around the world through Nickelodeon's community as well as through our own global distribution channels. The new series are designed to give viewers a glimpse of what life is like for kids all over the world and see how wonder, curiosity, and a shared love of Toys"R"Us truly connects us all."

The premiere episode in Geoffrey's World Tour series features New York City, which was Geoffrey's first stop on his world tour. New episodes will air every other week on Wednesdays and showcase one of the 10 stops around the world including Dubai, Singapore, London, Jerusalem, Madrid, Jeddah, Hong Kong, Durban and Melbourne.

Toys"R"Us Studios Launches Geoffrey's World Tour YouTube series featuring 10 cities around the world including Dubai as pictured.

At each of the cities on his journey, Geoffrey is greeted by a local kid ambassador who takes him on a tour to share a taste of their customs and culture and experience their beloved hometown Toys"R"Us store. The series captures the magic of every stop on Geoffrey's tour, and kids of all ages will love learning about the cities and the ambassadors who live there.

Geoffrey's World Tour is the first production to be released by newly established Toys"R"Us Studios. Led by four-time Emmy Award winning producer Kim Miller, Toys"R"Us Studios produces content in-house and through partners designed to be co-viewed by kids and their parents with programming that showcases the magic and importance of toys and play. Future productions will include more live action and animated series.

Fans can tune in to watch Geoffrey's World Tour at youtube.com/@toysrus, and follow @toysrus on social or sign-up for our newsletter on toysrus.com.

Toys R Us and Nickelodeon Africa Announce Winner of 2019 Nickelodeon's Toy Sprint

TOYS R US & NICKELODEON AFRICA NAME 2019 TOY SPRINT WINNER

2020-03-11 12:36:26

It’s been an exciting few months as kids across South Africa raced against the clock to claim up to R15 000 in amazing toys and gadgets within 60 seconds. But there could only be one winner! And it was nine-year-old, Riley Oliver from Rooderpoort, Gauteng who out-did his competitors during Nickelodeon’s Toy Sprint with Toys R Us to claim the ultimate prize.

The race, now in its forth year, promised to be the most exciting contest yet and certainly didn’t disappoint. Out of 19 500 hopefuls who entered online at www.nickelodeonafrica.com, Riley Oliver was one of the lucky ‘Spirit Rangers’ to have been selected. Along with Kirsten Abrahams, Nhlanhla Poone and Mahlatse Mongalo, Riley took to Midrand’s Mall of Africa in June to secure as many toys as he could.

“This year’s Nickelodeon’s Toy Sprint with Toys R Us exceeded our expectations from the very start. The time and dedication these kids put into preparing themselves for the race was extraordinary, and the personalities we were met with made each occasion that much more memorable,” said Catherine Jacoby - Head of Marketing Toys R Us & Babies R Us South Africa.

While Riley managed to get just about everything he and his baby brother wanted, he missed out on his quest for a Nerf Gun. Fortunately, he’ll be given a second chance when he competes in the ultimate Global Sprint in Singapore. This time, he’ll need to quickly make his way through a 2 500 square metre store in the hopes of grabbing goodies to the value of $5 000.

Included in the all-expenses-paid trip are return flights to Singapore for Riley and three of his friends and/or family members, a five-night hotel stay and spending money. What’s more, this will be Riley’s first-ever trip on an aeroplane.

Tasania Parsadh, Channel Director for Nickelodeon on behalf of ViacomCBS Networks Africa (VCN Africa) said, “I remember as a child, hoping to be selected for a contest of this nature and what a wonderful thing it is that we’ve now been able to award these children with such an exciting experience. Riley is a spirited young boy and a deserving winner. We know this will be a truly memorable experience for him, and what an added thrill it will be flying for the first time!”

As Riley prepares for his once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, Nickelodeon and Toys R Us are no doubt preparing themselves for next year’s events whereby other young hopefuls will stand a chance to bag themselves toys, gadgets, games and a lifetime of memories.

Congrats Riley! :)

From Roodepoort Northsider:

Let’s help 10-year-old reach his dreams by voting

Mom Tanya is urging the public to visit the Get Riley to Singapore page on Facebook and Instagram for more information on voting.

Riley Oliver turns 10 years old this month, and is urging the members of the community to help him get a gift he will never forget.

Riley, who took part in the Toys ‘R’ Us 60 seconds toy sprint in June, is asking people to vote for him so that he can win a trip to Singapore.

The superstar is now one of the 12 finalists from different provinces.

“As a finalist, I need people to vote for me so I can win an all expenses paid trip to Singapore. If I am chosen, I will participate in a 5-minute toy sprint in one of the biggest toy stores in the world,” said Riley.

Tanya, the mother of this superstar, said she has reached out to everyone for them to help with the voting.

“For this campaign, I am approaching everyone – to the point that people think I am crazy. Whenever I see someone with 5 000 followers on social media, I ‘inbox’ them and ask them to assist us. We are also having flyers printed and handed out,” said Tanya.

She went on to explain that voting only starts on Monday, 12 August, but she is making sure that she leaves no stone unturned.

“At this stage, we do not know the nitty gritties, but we are pushing so that people know about the voting process. We are working on reaching everyone,” explained Tanya.

She added that the initial sprint was held at the Mall of Africa.

“During the sprint, the participants went into the Mall of Africa store where they had to fill their trolleys with toys to the value of R15 000. Riley managed to get R14 600 worth of goods and was very chuffed, because he got everything he wanted, and I could not afford to buy it for him,” said Tanya.

When asked how they found out about the Toy Sprint, she said she had wanted to take part in this kind of competition since she was a child. “We saw an advert on television and Riley wanted me to enter for him. At that point I did not want to, but I then came across it on Facebook and entered him. I did not expect much, because there are thousands of people that enter, so when he got in, he was really ecstatic,” added Tanya.

Riley concluded by saying that he enjoyed every single moment of the toy sprint and is very grateful to have been given the opportunity.

“The whole experience was fun. At first I thought I would not get everything I wanted, but in the end I was able to get everything. Some of the things I had always prayed for, which I got during the sprint, are the hoverboard, the Playstation, and headphones, and I also got a mini car for my baby brother. Another thing is that I made new friends,” he said.

Tanya is urging the public to visit the ‘Get Riley to Singapore’ page on Facebook and Instagram for more information on voting and said that voters stand a chance of winning a replica trolley containing everything that Riley chooses.

Johannesburg Student Needs Fans' Votes To Be Crowned Nickelodeon Africa's Ultimate Toy Sprint Champion

Johannesburg: Demi Douman, 11, recently had an experience many of her peers can only dream about when she had 60 seconds to sprint through a toy store and select whatever she wanted off the shelves as part of Nickelodeon Africa's 2018 Toy Sprint With Toys "R" Us!

“I did not believe it when my mother told me that I would be a participant in the Nickelodeon Toys R Us Toy Sprint, and thought she was joking. I was not even aware that she had entered me!” Demi told the Roodepoort Record.

Her mother, Renata Noble, added that when she and her sister saw a post on social media indicating that entries for the competition were open, and they both decided to enter Demi. “I was just as surprised as Demi when I heard she was one of the four Gauteng contestants,” she said.

Demi and her three co-contestants - Deaney Van der Westhuizen, Sicelo Simelane and Kgosi Mfolo - got together at the Toys R Us store in the Mall of Africa, where she explained, “We would only get 60 seconds to sprint through the store and get the items we want. Before we started, we were given a 60-second strategy sprint, where we ran (without the trolleys) through the store, and touched every item we wanted. After that, the actual sprint started, and I knew exactly where my first stop was going to be!”

Demi Douman proudly displays some of the toys she managed to collect during her toy sprint. Photo: Adéle Bloem.

She added that, except for one item, she managed to get everything she wanted, and said, “I think the trolley slowed me down a bit, and that is why I did not manage to get everything. But, I did manage to throw some goodies into my trolley for my siblings!”

But this is not where her adventure stops – Demi now stands a chance of winning a trip for four to Hong Kong, where she would get the opportunity to spend five minutes in a Hong Kong Toys R Us. “Can you imagine having five minutes in a Hong Kong toy store? And, even though I am a bit nervous to think that I might be the winner, I am also excited. It would meant the world to me if I won,” said Demi.

Fans can vote for their favourite Nickelodeon Toy Sprint participant by visiting www.nickelodeonafrica.com and clicking on the Toy Sprint Vote banner to vote. The contestant with the most votes will then be jetting off to Hong Kong for a trip of a lifetime.

They will be directed to the vote page where the 12 finalists will be displayed – if a user clicks on a finalist they will be able to watch their toy sprint short video, and there will be a vote button by each contestant for fans to cast their votes. Once they have voted, they will be directed to another page where they will be able to leave their details for a chance to win a Nintendo Switch console. Voting opened on Wednesday 8th August 2018 and closes on Friday 31st August 2018.

The Nickelodeon’s Toy Sprint with Toys “R” Us champion will win the Ultimate Toy Sprint at Toys “R” Us Harbour City, Hong Kong to grab as many toys to the maximum value of $5 000. South Africa: Local Maragon Ruimsig Grade 2 learner, Aishania Naidoo (7), is a finalist in this year’s Nickelodeon Toy Sprint with Toys “R” Us!

Aishania Naidoo prepares for her toy sprint.

Aishania first entered the competition because she loves toys and has always wanted to enter the toy sprint. She could not believe she had won the opportunity and could not stop jumping around from excitement.

Following the battle for the top spots in each province, twelve young South Africans, including Aishania, have earned their place in the finals by racing through flagship Toys ‘R’ Us stores countrywide. These toy enthusiasts managed to pile up their trolleys in record time, scooping toys valued at R15,000 each.

For the month of August, fans can vote for their favourite participant by visiting www.nickelodeonafrica.com and clicking on the Toy Sprint Vote banner. They will be directed to the voting page where the 12 finalists will be displayed. Users can click on a finalist to watch the toy sprint short video, and then cast their votes. Once they have voted, they will be directed to another page where they will be able to leave their details for a chance to win a Nintendo Switch console.

Once the voting closes on Thursday 31st August 2017, the ultimate Nickelodeon Toy Sprint winner will be announced and will win an all-expenses paid trip for themselves and three family members or friends to the Nickelodeon Hotels and Resort Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic. The prize includes round-trip airfare, five nights’ accommodation, plus US$1 800 (nearly R24 000) spending money.

Aishania’s mom, Veneita, is extremely excited for her daughter. “The toy sprint was amazing and it will be the ‘cherry on top’ if Aishania wins. It will be such a great achievement for a little girl to win a holiday for the family,” Veneita told the Roodepoort Northsider.

Nickelodeon And Toys"R"Us' "Time To Play" Tour Visits New Jersey, NJ | Worldwide Day Of Play

New Jersey: As summer nears its end, North Jersey kids had the opportunity to put down their video games and enjoy a day playing mini golf, running obstacle courses and racing down inflatable slides at the Toys "R" Us store in Totowa.

Toys "R" Us and Nickelodeon, the number-one entertainment brand for kids, have joined together to host six free play events at Toys "R" Us stores around the USA this summer, which are leading up to Nickelodeon's annual Worldwide Day of Play on Saturday 30th September 2017. The Wayne, NJ-based retail chain says American kids are suffering from a shortage of play time – and they intend to do something about that.

"At Toys "R" Us, we know play has the power to help kids build self esteem, learn critical thinking and develop early learning skills," said Carla Hassan, chief global marketing officer at Toys "R" Us. "But first we need to set play free."

The "more play time" campaign came to Totowa on Saturday, where the Toys "R" Us store on Route 46 was the location for the third play event in the country. The first two events were held in Mesquite, Texas, and Indianapolis and attracted hundreds of parents and children, a Toys "R" Us spokeswoman told NorthJersey.com. Following today's visit to Totowa, Nickelodeon and Toys "R" Us' "Time to Play" tour will now visit Toys "R" Us and Babies"R"Us stores in Parkway in Brooklyn, NY on 8/27 and Brandon, FL on 9/9.

As a proud partner of Nickelodeon's Worldwide Day of Play, Toys"R"Us will also host family fun and games at Nickelodeon's New York City celebration in Brooklyn, New York's Prospect Park (Nethermead) on Saturday, September 16 from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm ET.

The national popup events throughout the next couple of weeks will eventually culminate in the Worldwide Day of Play on Sept. 30, when Nickelodeon, Nick Jr., Nicktoons and TeenNick will go dark to encourage kids to go outside and play.

"It really speaks to the importance of being a kid and enjoying the summer and their childhood," said Taylor O’Donnell, a communications coordinator for Toys "R" Us, who said that more than 1,000 children visited the event Saturday.

For 10-year-old Kaden Mallory of Paterson, clad in his favorite Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles hat, the play day was a dream come true. He spent most of his time challenging himself in the Ninja Turtle themed bean bag toss (cornhole) game or making his way through balance beams and up a rope wall in the obstacle course.

"I felt like it would keep him a little more active and I’m not disappointed," said Kristen Mallory, Kaden's mother. "He’s having a great time."

Toys "R" Us, in announcing its play events, said there had been a significant decrease in the amount of time kids spend playing, and in particular, playing outdoors, over the past decade or two.

"With all the technology – the tablets and the iPads – they're not going out and playing," said Braulio Rivera, who brought his 5-year-old, Aidan, to the event.

Being able to get her five grandchildren away from electronics and out having fun in the sun was a blessing for Victoria Felder of Pomona, N.Y.

"They need to get away from their video games and television," Felder said. "They're enjoying themselves today."

Toys "R" Us is engaged in a multiyear turnaround effort to boost sales and profits in the face of increased competition from online retailers, primarily Amazon. It has been making changes intended to draw more parents and children to its stores, including adding more specialty boutiques, and hosting game demonstrations and contests.

Want to come out and celebrate with Nickelodeon? Nick are inviting organizers and families to register events at www.day-of-play.com to join the fun! Every stop is chock full of all-star guests, amazing activities, and play for days!

AFA Criticises Toys"R"Us For Advertising On Nickelodeon During "The Loud House"

A few things before I begin the post:

- Much of this post is borrowed from The Slowly Boiled Frog.com, which has hit the nail on the head perfectly.

- These words are the opinion of the webmaster of NickALive!, a 100% unofficial Nickelodeon fan blog. If you're upset with this post, please be upset with me, and not Nickelodeon.

The very dim bulbs at American Family Association, an anti-LGBT hate group, are extremely upset with Toys“R”Us. The toy retailer's offense is that they dared to advertise during a number-one Nickelodeon show that they don't like. According to Bill Bumpas on AFA's fake “news” blog: “Problematic content spotted in children's show … again.”

"A pro-family group is rebuking Toys"R"Us for advertising on an animated show that exposes children to LBGT content and crude language.

This is not the first time The Loud House, which airs weekdays on Nickelodeon at 5:00 pm Eastern/4:00 pm Central, has warranted a warning from One Million Moms, a ministry of the American Family Association. Monica Cole, director of the decency advocacy organization, says the network is using the show to promote controversial topics to children."

Could it be The Homosexual Agenda™?

Indeed it is:

“They're attempting to desensitize young viewers by normalizing same-gender marriage with one sister coming out as bi-sexual …

The McBride family

In reality, The Loud House and Nickelodeon are trying to portray life as it really exists. Whether or not AFA approves of gay people or their marriages those exist. They cannot be prayed away, they are not immoral, being gay is not contagious, and you're born gay - you cannot be turned gay. What this is all about are three fictional characters in The Loud House: Luna Loud, a main character in the series, who was revealed to be bi-sexual; and supporting characters Howard and Harold McBride, who have minor roles The married gay couple are raising Clyde McBride - best friend of lead character Lincoln Loud in the series - who is healthy and happy. The episode that introduced Howard and Harold was nominated for a GLAAD Media Award earlier this year.

Luna Loud

"Toys"R"Us being a sponsor, it is shocking that they would support a program and sponsor a program that is pushing an agenda on controversial topics," she contends.

One Million Moms is also contacting Connections Academy, an online free public school, about advertising during the show. And Cole goes on to point out that Nickelodeon should stick to entertaining with family-friendly programming instead of pushing an agenda and promoting foul language.

What is “controversial” and “problematic?” The fact that gay people exist; the fact that gay people can legally marry or both? How is this portrayal an “agenda” in contrast to entertainment? Or is it the fact that AFA does not approve of gay people that creates this “shocking” outrage.

The fact is, many kids have two moms or two dads, and they need to be represented positively on television so they know there's nothing wrong with that - and that there's nothing wrong with being lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer or cisgender. And Nickelodeon and other channels incorporating themes like this in shows should be applauded and encouraged to continue!

Sadly, the AFA wants to impose its arcane religious rules on everyone else.

Oh, and whats this about "crude language"?

In 2012 these same people were upset because Toys“R”Us was selling an Archie comic book with a gay character. Back then they were accusing the comic of indoctrination as if it would turn kids gay. This current complaint is equally moronic.

Remember this post the next time AFA complains about being designated a hate group by the Southern Poverty Law Center.

Unfortunately, with groups like the AFA, the littler they are, the louder they tend to be. Sigh.

The best way to support Nickelodeon in continuing with its LGBTQ+ themes in shows is to keep watching The Loud House, pick up the new Legend of Korra comics, which continues Korra's same-sex relationship with Asami (#Korrasami), and keep shopping at Toys R Us.
