Ahead of SpongeBob's 25th anniversary, Paramount, Paramount Consumer Products & Experiences, and Nickelodeon have committed to removing 5M pounds of ocean-bound plastic and debris from our waterways by 2027.

Together with our partners- Waterfront Partnership of Baltimore, Plastic Oceans International, Surfers Against Sewage, WORK/First Mile, the Fort Worth Trash Wheel, and Enaleia- we have already supported the removal of over 1.35M pounds.

Now we're enlisting everyone's favorite sponge to engage audiences around the globe to remove even more.


ACT LIKE A SPONGE

The Act Like A Sponge campaign is an extension of SpongeBob's 25th anniversary celebration, where kids-and kids at heart-are encouraged to lean into sustainability and make a difference in some way.

Act Like A Sponge brings the franchise's deep ties to ocean conservation directly to fans via beach clean-ups, global aquarium partnerships, refreshing the beloved Science of SpongeBob program at HNM, Nickelodeon Our World grants, and the giant Gary trash wheel debuting later this year.

HOW PARAMOUNT IS SUPPORTING THESE EFFORTS

As part of Paramount's Community Day, we've partnered on seven beach clean-ups in Miami, New Jersey, New York, Brazil, Portugal, Singapore, and Los Angeles.

We have also partnered with the Ocean Conservancy's Clean Swell app, allowing users to sign up and contribute to cleaning efforts on their own time as part of a global virtual beach clean-up.

Lush Launches New TMNT Range

This summer, Lush and Paramount Consumer Products are set to launch a limited edition product collection featuring the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.

Lush has teamed up with Paramount’s iconic Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles to launch an exclusive range of limited-edition products for the bath, shower, body and hair. Renowned for innovating packaging-free cosmetic items, such as bath bombs, soap, shampoo bars and solid body scrub, Lush has designed the whole collection to celebrate innovation that removes the need for single-use plastic and encourage shoppers to use products formulated to work just as well as their packaged counterparts.

Lush has been able to co-create this range of six new immersive products (plus a pack of three exclusive face cloths) across bath, shower and hair care to ensure multiple steps of your body care routine are covered, and to enable everyone to make small moves to help the planet by using less single-use plastic in their daily life.

The new Lush x TMNT collection will be available from the 1st of July exclusively via the Lush app, and from the 4th of July at Lush stores and Lush.com.

Lush says it is ‘delighted’ to have been able to co-create this range of six new, fun and immersive products, plus a pack of three exclusive face cloths, to ensure multiple steps of users’ body care routine are covered, and to enable everyone to make small heroic moves to help the planet by using less single-use plastic in their daily life and beauty routines.

With awareness of climate change at an all-time high, many people have been ditching the bottle in favour of naked products. Mo Constantine, co-founder and inventor, designed many mainstream products seen across the cosmetics industry today, such as the bath bomb in 1989 and the shampoo bar in 1987, a brand-new invention that would revolutionise hair washing all over the world. Since 2005, Lush Shampoo Bars have saved the use of nearly 180m plastic bottles from landfill, which is estimated to be roughly 4500 tonnes of plastic avoided. Today, 43% of the brand’s core product range (excluding limited editions) is entirely packaging-free.

HOLLYWOOD, Calif., June 10, 2024 -- The Jim Henson Company (Fraggle Rock, Apple TV+; The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance, Netflix) and Paramount's Ananey Studios (Greenhouse Academy, Netflix; Spell Keepers, HBO Europe; Spyders, Nickelodeon International; Craft Party, CBBC) are introducing "climate hope" with The Season Keepers, a new 2D animated series for kids ages 6-12 and their families.

This modern-day fairy tale is inspired by Vivaldi's Four Seasons and welcomes viewers to connect to nature through a fantastical story filled with magical creatures. Twins Lia and Ben find their world and family unraveling when their parents' divorce sends them to their grandmother's small village for what's sure to be a snooze-fest of a spring holiday. Little do they know, they've landed in the middle of an epic battle between the seasons, where Lia discovers her gift to mediate between humans and The Nature Makers—a realm of magical creatures who are the guardians of nature itself. Lia must harness newfound powers and solidify her sibling bond with Ben to mend family rifts, save their grandmother from an eternal slumber, and stop a group of vengeful Nature Makers from plunging the world into a perpetual winter.

Frequent Henson collaborator Craig Bartlett (Dinosaur Train, Sid the Science Kid, Hey Arnold!) is attached as writer for the development of the series.

Singtel And Nickelodeon Team Up For Environmental Action With Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles-Themed E-Waste Campaign

In a move to raise awareness about the environmental impact of electronic waste (e-waste) and promote responsible recycling, Singtel has joined forces with Nickelodeon for the “Go Green with the Turtles” campaign. Announced today, the initiative, featuring the iconic Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, aims to encourage the public to recycle their unwanted electronic devices at designated bins in selected Singtel shops.

Campaign Details

Running from 1 December 2023 to 29 February 2024, the integrated campaign emphasizes the importance of reducing one’s environmental footprint through proper e-waste disposal. Unwanted electronic devices collected at Singtel shops will be refurbished by Engineering Good, Singtel’s non-profit device circularity partner, and distributed to vulnerable communities, enabling them to embrace the benefits of a digital lifestyle.

Animated Campaign And Eco-Ninja Mission


Accompanying the campaign are animated videos featuring the Turtles, urging viewers to become “eco-ninjas” and join the mission to combat “technotrash.” These videos will be broadcasted on Nickelodeon, English channels on Singtel TV, Singtel TV GO, the CAST app, and both Singtel and Nickelodeon’s social media channels. Additionally, four Singtel shops will have dedicated recycling bins.

Singapore Comic Con Booth

For an immersive experience, a booth at the upcoming Singapore Comic Con (9 to 10 December 2023) will allow visitors to meet life-sized versions of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. The booth, located at B2-D02 in Marina Bay Sands Expo & Convention Centre, will host the “Eco-Ninja Training Simulator” where fans can engage in ninja slicing action. Attendees can also donate their used devices at the booth’s bin, redeeming a complimentary six-month subscription of the CAST Learning Plus pack.

Device Donation And Instagram Contest

Device donation bins, featuring distinctive Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles design elements, are now available at Singtel shops including Comcentre, AMK Hub, Jurong Point, and Tampines Mall. Until 31 December 2023, those donating devices and sharing their contribution on Instagram Stories with #GoGreenWithTheTurtles stand a chance to win a six-month complimentary subscription of the Learning Plus pack from Singtel’s digital app marketplace, CAST.

Join Singtel and Nickelodeon in the mission to reduce e-waste, meet the Turtles at Singapore Comic Con, and make a positive impact on the environment. Singtel customers also enjoy an exclusive 10% off tickets to the convention.

In keeping with our goal of achieving net zero by 2045, we’ve been taking active steps to improve our energy efficiency across our mobile base stations, increase the use of renewable energy sources and reduce packaging to minimise our environmental impact.”

VANCOUVER, BC, June 28, 2023 -- Hot on the heels of the SpongeBob SquarePants takeover of the Lush Kitchen Box, Lush is excited to announce that there are more products in the SpongeBob SquarePants collection launching globally on June 29th. Renowned for innovating packaging-free cosmetic items — such as bath bombs, shampoo bars and solid bar soap — the whole collection is designed to encourage shoppers to consider the sea and choose plastic-free!

In support of Paramount's SpongeBob SquarePants: Operation Sea Change campaign, a global ocean conservation and sustainability initiative, which kicked off last year, Lush is thrilled to have co-created a range of six new, fun and immersive products across bath, shower and skincare to ensure multiple steps of your body care routine are covered.

Findings from Mintel(1) show that plastic pollution remains one of the top three concerns for consumers when it comes to environmental issues in the last two years.

Akua Launches Kid-Friendly SpongeBob Kelp Burgers

Akua – makers of kelp-based meat alternatives – has announced a partnership with Nickelodeon’s SpongeBob SquarePants to introduce two kid-friendly variations of their best-selling ocean-farmed kelp burgers.

The Akua and SpongeBob SquarePants collaboration is a natural extension of Operation Sea Change – Nickelodeon's recently launched global ocean conservation and sustainability initiative – and represents an alignment of values, combining Akua's commitment to providing sustainable and nutritious plant-based alternatives with SpongeBob's ocean-based popularity among children and families. By incorporating the spirit of fun and adventure that SpongeBob embodies, Akua aims to make eco-friendly eating more accessible and appealing to younger generations.

The slider-size kelp burgers, aptly named Kelp Patties, will be available in Original and BBQ flavors, and will be available in select US retail stores and online at vegan retailer GTFO this July, and at all PLNT Burger chain locations on the East Coast this September.

As noted by Akua founder, Courtney Boyd Myers: “Akua's Kelp Patties offer a delicious and nutritious option for kids while staying true to Akua's mission of creating great-tasting and planet-friendly food choices. Crafted from 100 percent sustainable ocean-farmed kelp, these kid-friendly patties are not only tasty but also contribute to improving the health of little humans and the health of our vast oceans.”

The patties are close to the iconic Krabby Patty featured on the beloved Nickelodeon animated series, which have no animal protein in them.

Waterfront Partnership of Baltimore announced on June 9 a partnership with Paramount and Nickelodeon in which the nonprofit, specifically its internationally acclaimed family of solar-powered interceptors, known as Trash Wheels, will benefit from a brand-new, multi-year global ocean conservation and sustainability initiative called SpongeBob SquarePants: Operation Sea Change.  In celebration of World Oceans Day on June 8th, Waterfront Partnership of Baltimore unveiled a SpongeBob SquarePants branded trash wheel, which will leverage the reach of the globally beloved undersea dweller to help raise awareness about ocean plastic pollution.

“We’re thrilled that the Mr. Trash Wheel family — both his impact and innovation — resonated with Nickelodeon and Paramount. This adoption of Baltimore’s fourth Trash Wheel, Gwynnda the Good Wheel of the West, will fund the removal of over 500,000 pounds of trash and debris while educating children and families across the world about ocean pollution and how to stop it,” said Adam Lindquist, vice president of the Healthy Harbor Initiative at the Waterfront Partnership.

By funding cleanup projects like Gwynnda the Good Wheel of the West, the initiative aims to help protect the ocean from plastic pollution and biodiversity loss by helping to remove and divert five million pounds of ocean plastic over the next four years. SpongeBob SquarePants: Operation Sea Change will sponsor trash collection activities through 2023 for Gwynnda the Good Wheel of the West [located in Gwynns Falls]. Other nonprofit partners include Coral Restoration Foundation, Plastics Ocean International, Surfers Against Sewage and WORK.

Gwynnda the Good Wheel of the West will don SpongeBob SquarePants branding as part help raise awareness about ocean plastic pollution. 

Mr. Trash Wheel and Professor Trash Wheel have been adopted by Baltimore-based Pompeian Olive Oil since 2021. Partnerships like this provide the funds necessary for the organization to keep Baltimore’s beloved trash wheels in motion and help the organization continue to educate Baltimore City residents and visitors about its programs and mission to restore and protect the Baltimore Harbor.   

Gwynnda the Good Wheel of the West

Since 2014, Mr. Trash Wheel and three other Baltimore-based wheels, have collected over 2,362.23 tons of trash, including a guitar, a snake, almost 2 million plastic bottles, and more, from entering Baltimore’s waterways and eventually the Chesapeake Bay and the Atlantic Ocean. The wheels have gained an international following for their anthropomorphic personalities on social media. 

Mr. Trash Wheel and his trash wheel family are one part of the Waterfront Partnership’s Healthy Harbor Initiative, which provides a roadmap for cleaning up Baltimore’s Harbor and the waterways leading to the Harbor. A clean Harbor and clean streams will provide opportunities for residents and area families to enjoy clean water in their neighborhoods.
