The Staunton River bridge.
--This bridge, on the line of the Richmond and Danville railroad, which was carried away by a freshet some weeks ago, is now sufficiently finished to allow the trains to pass over. The energy and perseverance shown by the present officers of the road justly entitle them to great credit. There have been many difficulties to contend with, and the means of the company are limited; yet they are pushing forward every kind of work necessary to perfect the road, and introducing many desirable improvements. Some very fine passenger coaches have lately been received from the North and placed upon the road. Much of the credit for the success of this great work of internal improvement is due to the energy of the efficient superintendent, Colonel Thomas Dodamead.
