Fire arms

are dangerous play-things for children, and when loaded should never be put within their reach. Some few days since Waring Page, a lad, seeing a gun in his father's house, on 18th street, and desiring to frighten a negro girl who was in the room with him, picked it up and threatened to shoot her. She ran out of the way, but the little fellow proceeded to cook it, and resting it on his mother's bed fired it. The result was, the bed and clothing took fire, and but for the prompt arrival of neighbors, who heard the report, the building and contents would have been consumed.
