Burglaries.

--Last Saturday morning, between the hours of three and four o'clock, the residence of Mr. Wm. Morton was forcibly entered and robbed of sugar and other articles. Mr. Morton heard the robbers and fired upon them twice, causing them to drop their booty and flee.

A part of the same gang also entered Mr. Wm. N. McVeigh's back yard and attempted to force the basement door, but falling to do so contented themselves with a lot of clothing and two turkeys, with which they escaped.

Efforts were made to enter other dwellings in the same neighborhood, but the robbers were frightened off by the reports of Mr. Morton's pistol.
