--Public Buildings Burnt.--The Petersburg Express, of yesterday, has the following paragraph:Not content with stealing from the people their furniture and other valuables, the vandals have wantonly destroyed much of the best property in the city. The new Baptist church, an elegant edifice, (the pastor of which, the Rev. Mr. Young, is now a refugee in Petersburg,) has been set on fire and burnt to the ground, a large female seminary, and several other prominent buildings in the place, have also charred the same fate. The situation of the people is described as truly deplorable, and untold sufferings are yet in store for them if something is not done for their relief, of which there is a poor prospect at present.
