--Whether these days are the ‘"saddest"’ of the year or not, they certainly are the wettest. Yesterday the atmosphere was of that miserable cast which has no redeeming quality, and everybody seemed to be in bad humor with himself and the rest of mankind. Such weather will, we hope, have the good effect of making our citizens redouble their exertions in behalf of the soldiers who are exposed to the pitiless blast.
