The pastor of the “Church of the Unity,” Boston, a few Sabbaths since, in his sermon, said he wanted to see Charleston laid in ashes, the ground ploughed up and planted with salt, and a pillar of midnight blackness set up to mark the spot. After this was done he proposed to have South-Carolina towed out into the Atlantic Ocean and sunk. Whether he proposes to build this pillar of negroes or not, he did not state. Such remarks are unbecoming, extravagant, uncharitable, and unchristian.
