κεχαρισμένον, ‘acceptable.’ The perf. part. pass. of χαρίζεσθαι is frequently used as an adj.; cp. Latin acceptus. The adverb is found in § 15.

ἀκούοντες μὲν γὰρ . . . ἁμίλλας, ‘for they delight in listening to such things, just as they delight in looking at contests and races.’

ἀμφοτέραις ταῖς ἰδέαις ταύταις, ‘both these kinds (of attraction).’ For ἰδέα see note on § 34.
