Postage Collection for Paper Players #156

Hello there! Happy Sunday to you! This week at the Paper Players the lovely LeAnne is our hostess and she has a fabulous sketch to take for a spin. I love this layout! It automatically went into the "favorites" file to use over and over again. Oh, and it is LeAnne's birthday, too. Please stop by her blog to share some simles! 

I have been absolutely swamped lately so I created my card a little late this week. I had the pleasure of spending Sunday afternoon with a wonderful friend. We had a blast talking, laughing and creating. Thanks Amy for a great visit...and I even got to fawn over her gorgeous dogs, so that was an added bonus! :) 

Amy let me use quite a few of her supplies today, including her Postage Collection stamp set (which I have at home but didn't bring), the new Poetry Print Embossing Folder along with lots of punches. It's fun to stamp at a friend's house to get some much needed inspiration. I brought along my Modern Medley DSP and kind of wanted to create a "clean vintage" style card. I don't know if that is an actual "style" or not, but I went with it anyway. I love how it came out! Layers, pearls, patterns and texture.

Rootin' Tootin' Pink Boot for Paper Players #155

Hello there! I hope you are off to a great start to your day! This week at the Paper Players, the fabulous Jaydee has a Clean and Simple (CAS) sketch challenge to take for a spin. Although my card ended up a little less on the CAS side then I had originally intended, I still had fun putting it together. :)

I live in Texas, so it pretty much goes without saying that the Bootiful Occasions stamp set gets a LOT of ink in my stamp studio. Especially that little cowboy boot...or cowgirl boot if you jazz it up with some sparkles and some pink-a-licious fun! I embossed the boot for added shine and popped it up for dimension. Oh, that added layer to the card? Well...I underestimated the size of the sentiment and it didn't fit on the banner as I had originally planned it on my card. So, I added a little layer with the embossed sentiment and some ribbon banners...and a jeweled button...and bling...and silver cord. I guess that is where my card didn't exactly fall into the CAS category anymore. Ugh! Please forgive me Jaydee! You know I try. 

Here is a quick shot of the inside of the card, with another sentiment from the stamp set. Sorry, it got a little smudged. I was trying to get this finished before the fajitas came off the grill. Blame my husband for rushing me! Haha!

This little guy is about 8 months old and although missing a front leg, is completely FULL of love and energy! Really Good Greetings for Paper Players #154

Hello and Happy Sunday to you! This week at the Paper Players, our very own Nance has a fabulous trio of colors to create with. I really like how these colors pair up together. Honestly I think I may have used Baked Brown Sugar once since it came out, so it was nice to pull it out of the drawer. :)

I was also inspired by the sketch over at Mojo Monday. I looooove all of the layers in the layout. 

I really wanted a fun mix of patterns and textures on my card, so there is a lot going on. Since the sentiment is the focal point, I wanted to play off of it with the embossed letters on the background. I was so excited to finally use the new Alphabet Press embossing folder. I honestly forgot I bought it. Oops! The chevron pattern (from the Positively Chevron stamp) was stamped in VersaMark ink and I added the little banner decorated with rhinestones at the last minute to balance out the colors a little bit more. All of the supplies I used are listed at the end of this post.

Christmas in July for Paper Players #153

Hello there, stamping friends! Can you hear that sound? It sounds a wee bit like...SLEIGH BELLS...in July! This week at the Paper Players, the always fabulous Ann Schach is our hostess and we are cooling things down with a "Christmas in July" theme challenge. Please join us! It is never TOO early to get a start on those holiday cards! 

My card is an interesting story. First of all, I created it almost completely with one hand, which was a feat in and of itself. (See the end of the post for the pitiful photo of my right hand!) Next, I don't have any new SU! holiday stamp sets, so I was feeling a bit unmotivated. Third, I live in South Texas. It is HOT here, so creating holiday cards feels out of sorts right now. But after I got going, with some holiday tunes blasting on Pandora, I got in the groove pretty quickly.  I wanted to try something different (as I wasn't sure I was going to be able to do any intricate stamping with the pain meds)  and decided to cut out some little trees out of card stock and built my card around that. 

I wanted a simple color palette, so I opened up the Modern Medley DSP that has been sitting in my craft room, waiting for some attention. I'm kind of a weirdo about red and green Christmas cards but in this case I kept it to a simple pop of red because I thought it was fun. Turns out, my injured hand can do one thing...hold paper while I distress ink around the edges of the card layers. So I went with it. The bow was honestly the most challenging part of the card. I confess...I did have to ask my husband for help with that. He rocks! All of the supplies I used are listed at the end of this post.

Well, before I sign off I thought I would share that photo. Have you ever tried to create a project using ONE hand? It is pretty challenging. Hence, the reason I limited my stamping on this card. Thank goodness I am left-handed, so it wasn't as bad as it could be. I will spare you the details but I have to have my hand in this contraption until further notice. It's ok, it actually feels better IN the splint.  If I have to have it on longer then a week, it WILL be decorated in sparkly bling. Becuse everything is better with bling! :)
