Blog Haul: New York and Teen Vogue Fashion U

Blog Haul: New York and Fashion U

So, it's that time to show you all of the loot that I picked up at Teen Vogue Fashion University along with everything I bought while shopping!

Some things in the bag included beauty products, Hue leggings (which are to big sadly), a Sperry magnet, a copy of Teen Vogue, and more!

On the left are just some postcards that I picked up to send to some of my friends. You have to buy something cheesy and touristy when you are in New York right?

On the right is a J Crew bracelet I purchased which I am obsessed with! It is super chunky, sparkly, and fabulous. Also, I got a pair of black, white, and grey chevron socks from J Crew. Both of these things were 40% off the sale price so they were both at a pretty good price.

I bought a few things at the Topshop event for Teen Vogue. I got these two shirts on sale plus the extra 20% we received with Teen Vogue. The first shirt is a simple red and white striped button down. I style this in a very preppy fun way and not to mention it fits really well!

Also, I got this super flowy yellow tank. It is a semi sheer fabric that hangs well on the body.

At Forever 21 I picked up these three dresses along with 2 belts. The lime green dress is the same fabric as a dress that I already own so of course I had to get it! The silhouette is super flattering and in general it is pretty comfortable.

The red dress was an impulse buy but its super tight and hugs in all the right places.

The maroon striped dress is a new obsession of mine. I wore it recently and I think there are a lot of different ways I can style it.

I picked up this beanie at Brandy Melville basically because it is hilarious.

In our goodie bags we got two free bracelets from Express which are actually pretty cute!

Secret is one of the main sponsors for TVFU so everyone got a free deodorant.

These are some of the beauty products that were given to us by some of the sponsors. I got things from Olay, Herbal Essence, and Pantene.

On the left is a super cute mini Bvlgari perfume that I got in our goodie bag. The scent is as amazing as the packaging.

At American Eagle I picked up this sparkle baseball tee. It is super soft and will be perfect for a lazy day or with a fun skirt.

Lastly, I got some hair accessories from Brandy Melville and also a bun twisty from American Eagle. I got to wire headbands one with a plaid print and the other with sunflowers. These are perfect for when you are having a not so cute hair day.

Teen Vogue Fashion University Day 3: Graduation, shopping, exploring New York

Teen Vogue Fashion University Day 3:
Graduation, shopping, exploring New York

Day three was graduation day! This day is the shortest day of the whole weekend when it comes to Teen Vogue activities.

The first thing we did was watch the documentary The Editors Eye. It showcased the Vogue editors of the present and past. The documentary was very informational but also entertaining. If you haven't seen it yet then you should for sure check it out. It really gives you an inside look into what Vogue is and what being an editor is really like.

A lot of people have a set idea of what a fashion editor is. {AKA Miranda Priesly from The Devil Wears Prada.} However they really do so much more then that.

The Outfit:

After the film they brought out Phyllis Posnick an editor from Vogue. Her seminar included mainly answering questions that were sent in along with taking questions from the audience. The funny thing about Phyllis was that she was very straight forward. Which I liked. She didn't dance around any question she just gave her true opinion. It was bold and I think some people were shocked. However, I think some people needed to hear the true and honest answer to their questions.

After that was graduation! Graduation basically consists of waiting in line to take a picture with your diploma. However its still cool!

My lovely diploma.

They gave us a free Baked by Melissa cupcake! It was quite delicious. I highly suggest you get some while you are in New York. And lets be honest they are just adorable in general.

{What is with me and selfies with small desserts? I couldn't tell you.}

Later that day I ended up going to Baked by Melissa to get myself some much deserved cupcakes. I got a variety of different flavors including chocolate chip pancake, cookie dough, red velvet, and others.

I passed this sign on my journey around the city. Got to love an iconic paper like the Wall Street Journal.

After exploring the city and hitting up Rockefeller center, J Crew, Free People, and some more of Time Square we headed back to Newark and got on a plane all the way back to Des Moines.

Teen Vogue Fashion University Day 2 (Part 2): Topshop Event and Late Night Adventures

Teen Vogue Fashion University Day 2 (Part 2):
Topshop Event and Late Night Adventures

Straight after all the seminars were over we rushed back to our hotel room to get ready for the Topshop event in Soho. This event is basically a party at Topshop filled with the editors from the magazine, treats, activities, and you also get a discount.

Every time I have been to Soho it is always cut short because we always head out there so late. So, I am determined next time to actually get to shop around all the stores down there and get to explore some more.

I don't know why but I love these wall decorations near the escalators. To me they are so iconic London which I am obsessed with because London is just amazing in general.

Here are some of the adorable treats they were passing out to the guests. I mean how adorable is a mini donut, popsicle, cotton candy, or macaroon?

{Yes I did take selfies with the cute dessert. No shame.}

They also had a drink bar and I enjoyed a very refreshing raspberry spritzer.

Throughout the night I shopped at Topshop and I found a few things that I really like. Stay tuned to see my full New York blog haul!

After we were done with Topshop I quickly ran over to Brandy Melville to get some things. I was hoping to find the shirt that says you can't sit with us. However, to my disappointment they didn't have any graphic tees with funny sayings on them. As a compromise I got a beanie hat that says Babe Cave which I find completely hilarious.

Another shot of me in front of one of the Teen Vogue Fashion U signs.

A friend and I with the VP and publisher of Teen Vogue. He gave us so much valuable advice and tips it was amazing. I learned a lot of what to do to become successful just from a short conversation with him.

{The Topshop store in Soho.}

We also got to talk to Drew who is one of the new Social Media editors for Teen Vogue. She is in charge of all of the social media pages and the website. We had about a 15min conversation with her which was great because we got a lot of great advice and tips.

{Low key, Amy Astley favorited two of my tweets. I basically died.}

A view of the city as we were calling a cab to take us back to Time Square. Although I didn't want to leave Soho it was a must.
