Love's Madness Mandala to color

Rainbow madness of love quote and mandala to color

I had the idea a while back to do a music mandala, and then it was "Well, random notes or actual song notes?" and with Valentine's Day coming up, decided to do a short set of notes from one of my favorite songs. Since the song is about a crazy little thing called love, and I wasn't sure what to put in the center- I looked for a quote that fit.
The madness of love is the greatest of heaven's blessings. - Plato
Well, that seems appropriate. I hope you enjoy coloring this in as much as I enjoyed drawing it.

Little shamrocks and braids printable box

C.S Lewis quote about being grown up.

"When I became a man I put away childish things, including the fear of childishness and the desire to be very grown up."
-C.S. Lewis
C.S. Lewis was born in Belfast, Ireland. Since I've been putting quotes on some of my thumbnails, using Irish authors for the designs with shamrocks or knotwork seems appropriate. Plus I really love this quote. As usual, if you'd like to share it, you can find it on my Facebook page! Like Don't Eat the Paste on FB for the fastest way to find out about new posts, and to see occasional photographs that I take. Currently there is a picture of a moose with it's tongue stuck out on there that I took yesterday!

The printable gift box is inspired by Brigitte in Austria who seems to really like shamrock designs! I hope you enjoy it too. Click on the image for a larger version, print on card stock, cut out, score fold lines, fold, glue!

Printable quote- Khalil Gibran

This quote is a part of The Prophet by Khalil Gibran.
"Love has no other desire but to fulfill itself.
But if you love and must needs have desires, let these be your desires:
To melt and be like a running brook that sings its melody to the night.
To know the pain of too much tenderness.
To be wounded by your own understanding of love;
And to bleed willingly and joyfully.
To wake at dawn with a winged heart and give thanks for another day of loving"

I posted the full quote here as a printable in January 2012. It's one that seemed worth revisiting in a simpler version. I hope you enjoy it. Click the image below for a larger version to print.

Printable Quote about Laughter

A quote to print and hang about laughter and it's importance.
“I love people who make me laugh. I honestly think it's the thing I like most, to laugh. It cures a multitude of ills. It's probably the most important thing in a person.”
-Audrey Hepburn
As usual, you can also share this quote, either from Don't Eat the Paste on FB or from Don't Eat the Paste Quotes.

Click the image below for a version without the link at the bottom to print. Print at 8x10 inches!

A Loving Thought Printable Quote

If instead of a gem, or even a flower, we should cast the gift of a loving thought into the heart of a friend, that would be giving as the angels give.
-George MacDonald
Just a lovely sentiment that suits this week very well.

Click on the image below for the printable version.

Quick note- QVC is doing a full day of Christmas gift ideas, and at 8pm EST during the the Gifts for Grandkids program with Host Caroline Gracie they will have the My Friendship Bracelet Maker and the My Ribbon Barrette Maker. I've used and liked the My Friendship Bracelet Maker and think it's a great tween gift.

Printable quote art about synergy

I'm really insecure about this. Usually my posted quotes are things other people said. This one is my own. It was the last thing I was thinking last night before going to bed.
So if you don't like it, that's okay, if you do then I'll probably blush and get all bashful.
We are so much more than the sum of our parts. We are multiplied, divided, added, subtracted in infinite variations. We are created again with every thought, experience, memory and emotion. That equation takes more than a mind to understand, it takes heart and soul. -synergy-

Quote art, Vesta, Blogrolls and Birthdays

Quote art- Fabulous, smart and beautiful

Click on the image for a larger version if you want to print it.

I updated We Come From Stars  today about Vesta. Still working on the final design for that blog and on a link list for the sidebar.

Also, I want to do a blog roll here. If you want a link to your crafts or cooking blog leave a comment.

With my birthday coming up (May 16! It snuck up on me this year), I've been trying to come up with a wish list. It's pretty skimpy so far.

  • Donate to the SPCA
  • Donate to PBS
  • Bring old magazines and books to your local hospitals
  • My Amazon.com wishlist
  • A favorite recipe, emailed to recipes (at) donteatthepaste *DOT* com that can be used with credit later on a recipe card
Working on it, my family keeps insisting that I'm impossible to shop for, so I try to give them some ideas every year.

Creativity Quote to color

Quote art to color, the quote is in the banner across the word CREATIVITY and says
Living creatively is really important to maintain throughout your life. And living creatively doesn't mean only artistic creativity, although that's part of it. It means being yourself, not just complying with the wishes of other people. -Matt Groening
I got the idea for the layout of the text from one of the Kiki Lowenstein Scrap and Craft Mystery books. Cut, Crop and Die is available free in Kindle format now. They are cute little cozies with a scrapbooking theme.

Friends

Sorry I haven't posted today! I was busy working on e-book, and planning some modifications to my cut and paste Kindle formatting tutorial. Tomorrow there will be instructions for a friendship bracelet hopefully, and in the near future, printable boxes using something like the art above.

It's been busy, but we got that final inch of snow we needed to break the record for most snow in Anchorage. Today was gorgeous, in the 40s. Alaskans, if you're wondering, frequently take off their jackets when it's that warm, and some wear shorts.

The above art was posted Don't Eat the Paste Quotes on FB if you'd like to share it.

Book Quote Cross Stitch Pattern

"There is no such thing as too many books. However, there is such a thing as not enough room"

William said that one day when I was talking about going out book shopping. My husband said "Don't you have them all?" And I said "NO! and there is no such thing as too many books!"
I told my son it should be a cross stitch pattern. So it is! I based it off an old pixel bookshelf that I made years ago. Click on the image for a larger version. Print to fit page. It's 140x140- so 10x10 inches in 14 count.

Mother Teresa Quote- Cross stitch pattern

"I have found the paradox, that if you love until it hurts, there can be no more hurt, only more love." -Mother Teresa

Click on the image for the pattern, and print at fit to page. It will stitch up to be about 10 inches wide in 14 count fabric. Since it's only one color, I think shaded threads would look lovely.

When I was younger, I kept a picture of Mother Teresa on my fridge. It was a reminder to be more patient, to try to be understanding. Because she was human and did so much good, she inspired people to be better than they would be normally. She's still absolutely one of my heroes.

I'm not Catholic, you don't have to be to learn something from her.

When my daughter was a lot younger, she read EduManga: Mother Teresa (Amazon.com affiliate link), and while it's not a complete biography, it's a good overview of her life for people who don't know much about her.

Martin Luther King Jr. on Love- printable word art

At Dexter Avenue Baptist Church in Montgomery, Alabama on November 17, 1957, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. delivered a sermon about loving your enemies. This printable is an excerpt of that sermon. You can read the sermon in full here. (King Institute site). Click the image for a larger version to print.
For the printable, I decided to put the Ancient Greek for each type of love next to what Dr. King had to say about it. The excerpted part reads-
"The Greek language, as I’ve said so often before, is very powerful at this point. It comes to our aid beautifully in giving us the real meaning and depth of the whole philosophy of love. And I think it is quite apropos at this point, for you see the Greek language has three words for love, interestingly enough. It talks about love as eros. That’s one word for love. Eros is a sort of, aesthetic love. Plato talks about it a great deal in his dialoguesa sort of yearning of the soul for the realm of the gods. And it’s come to us to be a sort of romantic love, though it’s a beautiful love. Everybody has experienced eros in all of its beauty when you find some individual that is attractive to you and that you pour out all of your like and your love on that individual. That is eros, you see, and it’s a powerful, beautiful love that is given to us through all of the beauty of literature; we read about it.

Then the Greek language talks about philia, and that’s another type of love that’s also beautiful. It is a sort of intimate affection between personal friends. And this is the type of love that you have for those persons that you’re friendly with, your intimate friends, or people that you call on the telephone and you go by to have dinner with, and your roommate in college and that type of thing. It’s a sort of reciprocal love. On this level, you like a person because that person likes you. You love on this level, because you are loved. You love on this level, because there’s something about the person you love that is likeable to you. This too is a beautiful love. You can communicate with a person; you have certain things in common; you like to do things together. This is philia.

The Greek language comes out with another word for love. It is the word agape. And agape is more than eros;agape is more than philiaagape is something of the understanding, creative, redemptive goodwill for all men. It is a love that seeks nothing in return. It is an overflowing love; it’s what theologians would call the love of God working in the lives of men. And when you rise to love on this level, you begin to love men, not because they are likeable, but because God loves them. You look at every man, and you love him because you know God loves him. And he might be the worst person you’ve ever seen."

Printable Love Quote

Click on the image below for a larger version to print. The quote on it is from Kahlil Gibran's The Prophet.

"Love has no other desire but to fulfill itself.
But if you love and must needs have desires, let these be your desires:
To melt and be like a running brook that sings its melody to the night.
To know the pain of too much tenderness.
To be wounded by your own understanding of love;
And to bleed willingly and joyfully.
To wake at dawn with a winged heart and give thanks for another day of loving"

It seems like in every generation, there are people who discover The Prophet all over again. In my case, it was one of my mother's favorite books and she had the record as well. I have her copy. My husband got interested in Kahlil Gibran's poetry after watching History Detectives.
Published in 1923, this collection of poetry on a series of subjects has been translated into many languages, and has been constantly in print.

Quote art and the new FB layout

Lately, since the FB layout change, it seems like some people are posting photos a lot more. Things they find funny, quotes they find meaningful, but since my friends list has a lot of overlap, that means that I get the same photos on my newsfeed sometimes 3 or 4 times in a day.

So rather than reposting things that lots of people are posting, I decided to start making my own illustrated quotes and posting them to my wall. I'm making them all 4x6 inches and decent quality. So if you'd like to print them for mini-posters, locker posters or even postcards, you can.

Here are the quotes I have so far. Click on the images for larger versions.

"I'm not going to change the way I look or the way I feel to conform to anything. I've always been a freak. So I've been a freak all my life and I have to live with that, you know. I'm one of those people."
-John Lennon
Public FB link if you want to share it on your wall is here.

"The trick is not how much pain you feel - but how much joy you feel. Any idiot can feel pain. Life is full of excuses to feel pain, excuses not to live, excuses, excuses, excuses."
-Erica Jong
Public FB link to share this on your own wall is here.

"Chains do not hold a marriage together. It is threads, hundreds of tiny threads which sew people together through the years."
-Simone Signoret
Public FB link to share to your own wall here.

"The morning cup of coffee has an exhilaration about it which the cheering influence of the afternoon or evening cup of tea cannot be expected to reproduce."
-Oliver Wendell Holmes, Sr.
Public FB link to share on your own wall is here.

I hope you enjoy these quotes as much as I do.
