Cape Lookout Lighthouse ~ North Carolina

The first part of our vacation we went to Cape Lookout.
We had to take a ferry boat ride over to the Island.
It was a perfect weather day when we went.

My Young Man and my Husband walked to the top of the lighthouse.  They love walking up the different lighthouses which is why we went to see this one so they could walk up to the top.

I'm not a fan of walking up that many stairs so I stay on the ground and take pictures of them when they get to the top and I take pictures of the scenery at the bottom of the lighthouse.

Currituck Beach Lighthouse

As I said in a previous post, my son is crazy about lighthouses and wanted to see as many lighthouses as we could while we were vacationing at the Outer Banks of North Carolina.  We went to see the Currituck Beach Lighthouse and my husband and little man climbed to the top of this one also!  They climbed 220 steps to get to the top of this majestic lighthouse.  That makes me tired just thinking about it!

You can see the boys in the picture above and below.  From what I read they are around 158 feet off the ground.

I really liked the grounds surrounding this lighthouse.  It was different from the Bodie Lighthouse and Cape Hatteras Lighthouse.  If you are ever in this area I highly recommend that you at least take a tour of the grounds.  Climbing the lighthouse, well, that's up to you!

Cape Hatteras Lighthouse, North Carolina

Cape Hatteras is my Little Man's favorite of all of all of the lighthouses so his daddy planned a surprise visit to the lighthouse.  The surprise was they bought tickets and walked up to the top of the lighthouse!  My Little Man was thrilled to get to go up to the top and see the sights from way up high.

You can see my Little Man walking around the top of Cape Hatteras Lighthouse in the picture above.  He is wearing a blue shirt and walking on the right.

The boys waiving to the girls down below!

The skies were just beautiful that day!

We drove around to the beach side of the lighthouse.  I thought it was a gorgeous view of the lighthouse from there.

Not only did my Little Man have a wonderful time getting to climb up to the top of Cape Hatteras that day, but when we were in the gift shop a sweet old man handed him $2 because he opened the door for him.  My Little Man is a very sweet Little Man.  He opens the door for me when we are out shopping so it didn't surprise me that he would open the door for someone else.  It did surprise me that someone else would be so generous as to reward my Little Man for being so sweet.

Bodie Island Lighthouse, North Carolina

The first place we went to see on our vacation was the Bodie Island Lighthouse (pronounced "Body").  It was a beautiful day as you can see from the incredible blue sky that day.  It sure was putting on a show don't you think?

The current Bodie Island Lighthouse is the third that has stood in this vicinity of Bodie Island on the Outer Banks in North Carolina and was built in 1872.  It was renovated from August 2009 to March 2013, and was made climbable by the public.

My Little Man and husband wanted to climb up this lighthouse when we were there.  Unfortunately, for them it was already booked for the day so they didn't get to climb up this lighthouse.
