Christmas is on the way so Poinsettias are the flower of the day!!

Good morning all

Ok - who's getting ready for Christmas lol!
In the craft world it probably starts inabout July - but if you want to make your own Christmas cards with lots of time to spare for this Christmas - you should start .... last month

At Winter Wonderland Challenge we encourage you to make cards all year round and we have a lovely new challenge starting today.  It's a special rememberence of our lovely Eileen who was our previous DT leader. She sadly passed away very unexpectedly this time last year.  So this challenge is just a little tribute from the team to a lovely lady.

our theme is

Anything Christmas Goes

our fabulous sponsors provided the team with some lovely images
and I just had to choose this lovely image
called Poinsettia available HERE

I printed it out 4 times and coloured it up with my Spectrum Noir pens trying to add a bit of realism with touches of red and green.  Then I fussy cut and embossed 3 of them  them using the basic flower shaping mold from Heartfelt Creations to give it dimension.  I really like how it turned out - I particularly like that the image isn't symetrical because it makes it look more realistic, that isn't the norm for me because generally I'm a pretty symetrical girl!

I wasn't 100% sure whether i liked this card totally white - so i cut two frames for it - this is the other version - what do you think? - black or white?
(yes the first one's a better photo lol)

Our sponsor for this challenge is

who are offering a  $10 coupon to spend in their store

This is what I did

Image - Poinsettia from Imagine That
Printed onto copy paper
Coloured with  - Spectrum Noir pens from Crafter's Companion
Card - Sheena Stamping card and black card from Crafter's Companion
Embossing folder - poinsettia folder by Sue Wilson for Creative Expressions
Die cut (part of) Holly Latice frame also by Sue Wilson for Creative Expresions

Hope you'll join in with us this week at Winter Wonderland

Babies, Children and Men.....!

Good morning all

I'm still on my Spectrum Noir ColourTint pencil obsession and found another great image that was perfect for the muted tones of these fab pencils.

There are only 24 pencils in the whole set - but you can colour just about any image with just those 24 - check them out at Crafter's companion HERE

This one if a DT card for the challenge over at

our theme is

Babies Children and Men
(I'm sure they all have something in common!!)

I'm a bit late this week -don't tell the boss!!

I love this type of image for men's cards - a simple card style with a statement image and just a sentiment to fit the occassion and its good to go.  I can never decide whether my favourite style to make is this or Shabby Chic..... might just have to practice a bit more lol

This is what I did....

Image -from  justinklined (great stamps for just about any occassion!)
Printed onto Sheena Stamping card from Crafter's Companion
Coloured with Spectrum Noir Colourtint pencils - from Crafter's Companion
Papers -from the Downton Abbey pad from Crafter's Companion
Kraft Card - Crafter's Companion
Sentiments form LOTV and Appleblossom Stamps
Distress ink - TH Distresses Corduroy

Hope you'll join in with our challenge this week - I can't wait to see what you coe up with!

More Christmas!

Good morning all

Are you fed up with my Christmas posts yet!!

this is the last one I have (for now)

and it's for the new challenge starting today at

(I love these Christmas challenges, great for keeping up with Christmas makes)

The theme for this challenge is

All boxed up

and I have these cute little penguins (with boxes!) to share mounted onto one of those fab kinetic cards - I love these they make suprisingly quick and easy cards

the image is Christmas penguins available HERE

It's coloured with my Spectrum noir sparkle pens but I'm afraid you can't see much sparkle in this photo - between the shape of the card, the mirri card and the sparkle this was not aneasy card to photograph at all

The image was provided our sponsor this week

This is what I did....

Image - Christmas Penguins from Sasayaki Glitter
Coloured with Spectrum noir sparkle pens
Card base -Circle Kinetic card base from Crafter's Companion with Let it snow insert
Card - White Sheena stamping card, black card, red mirri from the cute christmas collection all from Crafter's Companion

One card a week for Christmas - that's the aim!

Hi all

Is it to early to talk about Christmas lol
I can see you rolling your eyes and hear the groans already he he

But for anyone who wants to send handmade  Christmas cards - now is the time to start.
I always have good intentions at the beginning of the year - and mostly I don't do too badly - but I always wish I'd made more when December comes around

So in an attempt to put in even more effort I joined a facebook page where the aim is to make 52 cards in the year.  (We'll not mention the fact that I'm already a week behind lol)

So here's my first card.  I actually made a couple like this one last Christmas.  When I went to Florida last November I took my pencils and coloured a few images as i sat by the pool - this one I coloured  three times.  Two of them got made into cards and this one was 'saved' for this year and has got me off to a start for the year

This cute, pretty image is from Sheena Douglass at Crafter's Companion- it's very easy to colour because it has a lot of shading on the stamp to guide you, the sentiment also came with the stamp.

I stamped onto Canson watercolour paper (my favourite for watercolours - it has such a fabulous texture)  Then coloured with Spectrum Noir Colourtint watercolour pencils - all except for the red which is a Derwent Inktense pencil (there isn't a bright red in the Colourtints)  I love the Colourtints they're such lovely muted shades.

This is what I did .....

Image and sentiment - Dashing Deer from Sheena Douglass a little bit festive
Coloured with Spectrum noir colourtint pencils
red pencil - Derwent inktense
Paper - Canson watercolour paperCard and ribbon from my stash

I hope I've inspired you to get going on next years Christmas cards

Wednesday, 18 October 2017

Hello!

Good morning all

I've been missing from around here for sooo long, first my Florida holiday (complete with hurricaine!)  Then when we got back home things have just been so busy, house things and family and such a lot to do and catch up on that I haven't felt much like blogging at all to be honest.  But I'm hoping I've now got my enthusiasm back and I'll get my blog back in business!!

So many things seemed to have happened in these last few weeks I could write a book not a blog - but I definitely haven't got time to write a book!! - though it's always something I thought I might do - they recon there's a novel inside of each of us, ha ha watch this space .....

Anyway down to blogging  business......

I have a Christmas card to share today

its for the challenge over at

where the theme this week is

Paper Piecing

The stamp is from Imagination Crafts decoupage stamp range.  I bought a whole set of them a while ago because I loved the traditional styles and thought they were a little bit different to other Christmas styles around- and this was exactly the style of card I had in mind.  Not to difficult to make but with the lovely poinsettia image lending itself to a bit if paper piecing and decoupage.  I think I might make up a few while I'm on a roll.

We have a fabulous sponsor this week

offering a great prize for our challenge winner
This is what I did....

I stamped the image onto white card, then parts of the stamp onto the patterned paper and pieced it back into the stamped image, I then stamped the poinsettia again and decoupaged another layer.- it was really quite easy to do

Image - from imagination crafts decoupage stamp range
papers - First edition - Vintage noel
Dies - Creative expressions Sue Wilson pierced square
           Tag dies from MFT
Ribbon from my stash
Card = neenah white card from Crafter's Companion
Neuvo drops from tonic (in centre of poinsettia)
Card background coloured with CC Spectrum Noir pens TN1 and 2

We'd love to see your paper piecing at Fab'n'Funky - hope to see you there.  I'll be round to catch up with your blogs very soon.

Put a little sparkle in your life

Good morning all

I can't believe we've arrived at Wednesday again!
the weeks are just flying by
and it's time fro another challenge at

Fab'n'Funky Challenges

This week we have two themes to choose from

Shades of Grey and One other colour
or
Lots of sparkle

I chose to go with lots of sparkle
1 - because it's always good to have a little sparkle in your life
2 - it's an opportunity to use my lovely Spectrum Noir sparkle pens!!

this is the beautiful
Harleqinade - Venetian Mask
available HERE

I decided to keep the colouring very soft, first of all using my Spectrum Noir Colourblend pencils - I love how easy they are to blend, then I used the clear Spectrum noir sparkle pen to highlight areas on her face and the flowers and created some sparkle and I then used another pen in the shade biscuit  to colour all of the droplets, finally i coloured her eyes in the black sparkle pen which looks really dtamatic IRL  -   I really like the whole  effect. I decided to keep it really simple to focus on the image.  Using just a frame in black card made with the Sue Wilson Noble square dies, then added the die cut 'celebrate' across the bottom corner which is also coloured with the black sparkle pen

pencils used - face - cream, vanilla, mulberry, peach, pebble, black
                       Flowers, mulberry,redcurrant,lemongrass, peach, carnation,pistachio, earth,
background shading - mulberry, lemongrass, peach, black, redcurrant

The image was provided by our fab sponsor this week

AuroraWings

who are also giving a prize of $10 to spend in store to our lucky winner
- it could be you!!

hope you'll join in and play along this week

Boo! - there's a monster watching!!

We have a really fun challenge starting at

Moving along with the times

- we want to see

Monsters and /or Aliens

for me this was just the perfect excuse to make a cute kids card with one of the lovely birthday monster Stamps over at the Digistamp Boutique (available here)

Cute birthday cards are always in demand by my grandson Jacob who at 4  is at that age when every other week there's a birthday party!!

I always add the name of the birthday boy or girl and my cards go down a treat!

So the space at the bottom right will have a name on when it gets given
(to a child with a short name in the case of this card!!)

This is what I did ....

Image and sentiment- birthday monsters from the digistamp boutique
Coloured with Crafters companion spectrum noir markers
Paper is from an unnamed pad in my stash!

Summer holidays are here - The Paper Shelter says so!!

Good morning all

It's time for another challenge at

The Paper Shelter

and we have a topical theme this week

Holiday Time!

hands up - who's seen the sun this week!!
(well it's sort of behind the clouds!!)

My card perhaps reflects the sort of summer we've been having off and on
a bit grungy at times with the hope of something better to come

this cute image is called
Where're we goin' available here

This is probably my favourite style of card to make - though I don't do it very often, it doesn't suit every image and I need to have some inspiration to do it.  This week my inspiration came very firmly from Sheena Douglass when she was demonstrating her new Christmas stamps on TV.  I made the background paper and then the topper with the image on from stamps and TH distress ink and I really loved doing it!  this card isn't so much mixed media as mixed medium.  I used distress inks, Spectrum noir pens and blendable pencils, watercolour pencils and sparkle pens (for the flowers) - I had pens and pencils and inks all over the place by the time I was finished lol

Here's what i did

Image - where're we goin from TPS
Coloured with Spectrum noir pens and belendable pencils
Flowers - Sheena Douglass -A little bit sketchy -a new leaf  stamps
- coloured with Spectum aqua pencils and sparkle pen
Background created with TH DI  - faded jeans, spun sugar, abandoned coral and tea dye
Stamps - Be Bunny icons  and LOTV corner stamps
Dies used - Creative expressions noble pierced square dies, Sara's signature swirl die from the country garden collection at Crafters companion,  and Memory box Eiffel tower die
LOTV - tag stamps
Kraft card from Crafter's Companion
Film strip from TH idea- ology

Hope you'll play along with us this week
As always we have a fab prize on offer
