Lace and Pearls over at Fab'n'Funky Challenges

Morning all

I haven't been around much these last few days - been really busy trying to catch up with things  (the story of my life!!)but should be able to do some visiting over the next few days.

Today is challenge day at Fab'n'Funky challenges and the new challenge is being sponsored by

Our theme for the week chosen by the lovely Pat is

Lace and pearls

Here is my DT card, which I made using one of the lovely images from The Digi Doodle Shop Called Daisy Girl, isn't she just so sweet!

Two other views of the card

As you can see I'm still on my easel card "thing" - each time I see an image my mind says - that would make a nice easel card - don't know if I've got a bit of an easel problem and has it got bad enough that I need help lol....

I've stood the easel right back so you can see the sentiment but really it  looks better when it stands in front of the sentiment on the lace - oh that lace it gave me such problems this week - made my DT card and completely forgot the lace part of the challenge so this is the second, and completely different card I made - note to self - read the challenge when making a  DT card!!

Anyway enough of the chat

This is what I did ......

The challenge is being sponsored by Dis Digi Downloads, why don't you  hop on over to their store to see all their great digi designs.

Papers - Websters collection combo pack
Flowers - Prima

Cute baby card

Hi Blog friends
Heres my 3 in a row for this week.  I'm so thriled to have been nominated for my very first blog award this week - not once but three times!! Thank you Pat P, Pat K and Nikki for thinking of me - I am honoured to accept the Leibster Award.

The origins of the Liebster Blog Award are somewhat unclear but the general consensus is that it originated in Germany, Liebster meaning favourite or dearest, to showcase bloggers with fewer than 200 followers. Upon accepting the award the recipient must then pass it on to five more blogs of note

Here's what to do on receiving your Award
1. Thank your Liebster Blog Award presenter on your blog.
2. Link back to the blogger who presented the award to you.
3. Copy and paste their blog award on your blog.
4. Present the Liebster Blog award to 5 blogs of 200 followers or less who you feel deserve recogniti
5. Let them know they have been chosen by leaving a comment at their blog.
Here are the well deserved blogs I have chosen to pass the award to :

I made this card for a friend who just had a baby girl, it was lovely to  make a little girl card for a change, everyone has had boys for ages now so a lovely pink little baby is a real joy to do!  I got my copics out to do most of the colouring on this one - I so like the tone of the paler pinks and lemons in promarkers but I stuck to my tried and tested copics for the skin tones (E11, E00,E000,E0000,R30)   I used my new memory box swirl die for the first time on this card - I think I'm in love - its absolutely gorgeous - so delicate - think you might be seeing a bit more of this!  I followed the sketch from this weeks lillis little fairies challenge for this card,  I was happy with it on the whole but not sure if the design is a bit "top heavy" but I didn't want to add anthing else to the bottom as I think there's enough going on!

What I did....

Image and new baby sentiment- LOTV (baby with teddy image)
Coloured with - promarkers, copics and prismacolor pencils
Papers - Forever Friends - new arrival
Pink card - Cordinations christmas pastels
Swirl - memory box
Flowers - Wild orchid crafts
Die cut oval and circles - spellbinders
Leaves - docraft punch
Pearls - Kaisercraft
Ribbon - Carnmeal cottage
You are so cute! stamp - Dawn Bibby woodland friends
Distress ink round oval - dusky rose

Challenges I am entering this card into

Crafty sentiments Designs - congratulations

Spring has sprung - again

Hi blog friends

I'm definately on a pretty card thing at the minute - my daughter wanted a birthday card for her mother in law and this is what she got!  Its another of those Lili of the Valley pretty girlies, they're always so easy to colour (I've asked for some of the new ones for my birthday next week and its a suprise which ones I get so I just can't wait).  I started off making this with the LOTV challenge in mind but didn't get it finished in time! not that it matters, but it did make me think outside the box a bit because it was a peaches and cream challenge. I haven't got those colours in copics so I went back to my promarkers and brought in more colour with my prismacolor pencils, I think it worked in the end.  I decided to go the whole fairy thing and give her a real helping of glitter - dres,s wings, shoes wand - the whole shebang as well as the roses, have to say I'm not usually a glitter girl but I did like what it did for this card, I don't think glitter photographs very well as its making it look sort of dirty - but I promise its not its lovely and glittery.

the inside

I don't always photograph the inside of the cards I make but this is such a sweet message I thought it need an outing!  It was cut very simply from spellbinders labels sixteen to match the front and the sentiment is from a Whiff of Joy text set of nine called Magical Wishes.  The tiny buterflies are a fikars punch I picked up in a local craft shop sale bin for 50p- bargin!

You can see the glitter better in

Hi blog friends

Hope you're all having a good day - its lovely up here in the frozen north (despite the rumours we do get good weather up here), the sun is shining, the sky is blue ...."and I am happy, happy all through".  walked for miles on the beach this morning with the hound dog, I love it when the tide is right out.  but enough of me...

Its Wednesday so that means a new challenge over at Fab'n'Funky Challenges and

the DT were doubly lucky and allowed to play with an image too. Just to give you the "heads up", there are several freebie images available from the stamp fairy that fit perfectly with this weeks theme which is.....

So lets see you over at F'nF this week, all of this sunshine is enough to inspire everybody to get the yellow paper, pens and ribbons out - or the odd daffodil!

A birthday card for a new Daddy x

Hi again

At last I have a card to post today - can't believe how I managed to mess up my blog when I decided to have a little play with the layout on Friday.  it took me ages and when I finished I hated it!  So I had to start all over again and its taken me all weekend to get it something like the way I wanted it again!  I've decided palm trees and parrots flying around my posts are not really my style after all lol.

Anyway, I've got soooo many cards to make over the next few weeks I'd better get going.  on 27th March it the most megga card day of the year for our family.  My daughter Alison and her husband both have their birthday on that day, on top of that its their 2nd wedding anniversary.  So todays card is the first of these, its Stevens bithday card - a mans card always the most awkward, for a young man I think its even worse!

This is a cute Lili of the Valley stamp of a daddy and baby bear Bear - really appropriate for my son in law because he's a new Daddy of a baby boy - now 11 weeks old and just as cute

What I did.....

Stamp - Lili of the valley - Armchair bear
Coloured with - copics and prismacolor pencils
Paper - First edition spring feast
kraft card
Distress ink on paper and card - Tim Holtz tea dye
Stamps on tag and border - Dawn Bibby

The Secrets out!!

Hi blog friends

Well I just couldn't wait a second longer to tell my secret!  I'm sooo excited.

I just got my 1st DT team place with Fab'n'Funky challenges, I only started blogging this year - my new years resolution, even though I've been following craft blgs for ages now, it was just taking the plunge - and it makes the blogging much more fun too.   I've enjoyed it so much I've already met such a lot of lovely people and it gives me a reason to make my cards.

Being on the Fab -Fab'n'Funky design team means I've got even more excuse to make more cards - with lots of inspiration thrown in. The girls have all been so welcoming and helpful to a newbie like me - special big hugs to Wendy for helping me get my 1st DT card posted when I was having problems - you're a star - if I had an award I'd give it to you x

Congrats to the other newbie DT members Sheila and Judit - I'm sure we'll all muddle along together girls!   I think I know how Meryl Streep felt at the Oscars - this is my Oscar speech - and I'd better shut up before I get boo'd off  lol.

So here it is my 1st ever DT card, as soon as I saw the theme for the week I knew I had the perfect stamp. The theme is leap into action - in honour of leap year and sponsored by Joanna Sheen.   The prize is £10 to spend in store and I'm sure you can all come up with some creative ideas of leaping things, animals, people - anything to celebrate our once-in-four-years day. So hop on over to the challenge blog and do your worst - or should that be best!!

My favourite colour - green

Hi blog friends

I've had a really exciting weekend - but shh its a secret so I'll have to tell you later!!
Started this card last night and got up early this morning to finish it.  My favourite colour is green, I often make pink and green cards but when I saw the challenge on Fab 'n' funky challenges this week was green, blue and white I had to give it a go.  Is not a combination I've used recently - if ever but I think I love it.

close up of the details

What I did...

Stamp image - Lili of the valley - coffee break
Flower stamp (around outer card) and sentiment stamp- Dawn Bibby woodland deer and cup cake
Distress ink (stamping and ink on card - Tim Holtz shabby shutters
Tag - cut with sizzix die
Card - Craftwork cards scalloped card
Papers - K & Co sweet nectar
Coloured with - copics and prismacolor pencils
Pearls - kaisercraft
Flower - wild orchid inside of prima
Lace and vintage seambinding ribbon  - from my stash

I didn't want to go overboard with the embellishments because the bright colours are enough by themselves withour too much clutter (thats a technical term!).  Think I need to expand my blue and green colour pallet - I can feel another birthday present coming on!

Must go off to do some ironing - I know boring - but going to the cinema tonight to see "the Artist" and if we want to go out dressed in clothes tomorrow its getting to be a must!

I'm entering this card for the folowing challenges

Lilis little fairies - afternoon tea
Little miss muffet challenges - fancy or lace
Crafty sentiments designs - 2 designer/diferent papers
Allsorts challenge challenge blog - Your choice
