Its Cow Girl Lili for Inky impressions challenge day

Hello again

I'm back with my second post of the day with my Cow Girl Lili DT card
for the challenge over at the Inky Impressions Challenge Blog
and todays challenge is

Use Lace or trim

This weeks  challenge is being sponsored by 3 Bugs in a Rug!
Here is a bit about their fabulous company:

Kristine and Rick Turner founded Three Bugs in a Rug 5 years ago. After starting an online scrapbook store, Kristine decided to create her own designs. After the overwhelming response to her designs, we closed the online store to concentrate on creating fun pattern paper and coordinating embellishments. We hope you enjoy working with her designs as much as she enjoys creating them.

They are giving a great prize this week
 - so why don't you play along - it could be you!!

This little girl is one of my favourites from Inky Impressions I just love her little cowhide skirt, her knock knees and her boots!  I'm not having a very good week when it comes to liking cards this week - I think we all have these weeks when we just can't please ourselves!  I had an idea in my head when I started this but the card doesn't match it- i don't not like it its just it doesn't look like I had in mind....!

A little distressing

Good morning blog friends

Don't worry I'm not here to tell you a sad story to get distressed over - but we do need some distressing over at Creative Craft Challenges this week!!

We have the wonderful Lili of the Valley sponsoring this weeks challenge
and so we want to see your projects on the theme

Distressing

I had such problems making this card, had chosen the card paper and ribbon - even coloured the image but I just couldn't put it together for the life of me - and it certainly didn't start life as an easel card!
I messed on with it all day on and off - took the dog out for a walk, did some work, came back to it and eventually stuck it together and photographed it - but it still didn't look right -when I looked at it I had forgotten to do the shading with my prismas to give it a more distressed/vintage look, by then I was blending the black prisma pencils onto the mostly finished card - I'm amazed that it didn't end up in the bin!! As if that wasn't bad enough when I came to try to photograph it the second time I ended up chasing it round the garden!!  I like to take my photos outside if I can - but didn't think it was quite as windy as it was....

So these terrible photos were taken in my conservatory and I
couldn't do any better so gave up and this is the best I got!

I decided to pick out the green, pink, blue and peach in the papers - more colours than I would normally use together and carried it through with the embellies so this card is not really me at all - I'm usually a two or three colour girl at the most.  The only thing i can say is it does actually work and looks better in real life than in these photos!!

This is what I did.....

Image - Lili of the Valley - Party girl
Coloured with copics and prismaclour pencils
Papers - First edition - spring feast
Sentiment Lili of the valley
Ribbon - Sam Pooles creative studios
Butterfly punches  Martha Stewart and papermania
Roses - dienamics dies with a pink dew drop inside
Green pearls - kaisercraft
Distress ink - Tim Holtz - tea die
Die cut circles - spellbinders
Die cut flower border and corner (used as leafy sprig) - Memory box

Challenges I am entering with this card

Crafty cardmakers - birthday with balloons
Ooh la la creations - ribbon or twine
Love to create challenge- Bingo - Ribbon /punches/flowers
Lilis little fairies - use your favourite craft tool (Grand Calibre die cutting machine)
Delightful challenges - Distressing
Willow Sketchie challenge  -handmade flowers

Well that about the end of my distressing tale!

See you all tomorrow

Totally mad - but its nice here!

Hi Blog friends

Just when I thought things couldn't get any better - they just did - you best pull up a chair and grab a coffee for this one!!

When I decided to start my own blog to post the cards I made I decided that I'd really love to be on a design team because it would be a really nice way to make friends and give me challenges for making cards, it always seems so much easier when someone else tells you what to do!  Anyway to get to the point there were a few DT calls around I kept looking until I found the ones that looked the very best and I applied.  I got the very first one I applied for and I was absolutely thrilled to bits to think that someone thought I was really good enough to do it.  I thought it would be perfect if I could get another one so I waited to see what happened to my applications, I was just gobsmacked as the weeks have gone by that one after another I got them all!

So today I'm now also a member of two more fantastic DTs

Moving along with the Times and My time to Craft

Thank you to all you lovely ladies who voted for me to be part of you teams and for giving me such a warm welcome - I'm getting to know you all and enjoying every moment, I'm putting in a bit of extra effort to get on track but anyone who knows me knows I never do things by half - its all or nothing and I'm just looking forward to it all so much.  I'm sure some of you must be thinking I'm totally mad - yes I think I probably am - but its nice here!!

I even have a card to post on top of the excitement  I should have done it last night but I dropped a black inkpad onto it and had to redo the whole image again -but even that can't upset me I like the second one better - I coloured it a bit lighter.  I had to photograph it in electric light so the sentiment's not very clear - but its a mothers day card

I've got exciting news x 2!!

Hi blog friends

Was just going to tell you all my exciting news when I looked at my blogger dashboard and got some more!!  I've just been given a place on the Creative Craft Challenges DT, I'm so excited and looking forward to getting going with it.  Have a DT card due next week so that's my project for tonight.  Thanks to all the girls on the DT for really warm welcome - I feel at home already - such a lovely friendly bunch and with a few of us new girls all starting together you've probably got your work cut out lol.

My second exciting news is I just found out  I've got a top 3 card in the Sentimental Sundays challenge last week - thank you to the DT at Sentimental Sundays for  that too - todays been a good day all round.  I've even got a card made today as well so crafty things can't get much better.

I wanted to use another of my cute new Saturated Canary digis so chose this one called Dorothy -yes that's Wizard of Oz style Dorothy, I think you'll agree  she's very cute.  I decided to go all out pretty for this one - pink, ribbon, flowers, pearls and butterflies - thought I'd hold on the glitter - there's such a thing as too much ha ha.

a close up of the detail

What I did....

Pearls - Kaisercraft
Distress ink (around diecut for image) - Tim Holtz spun sugar
Pink card and seambinding ribbon - from my stash

I had a bit of a happy accident with the ribbon, I tied a double bow then cut through the wrong loop so ended up with a single bow with 3 lots of tails.  At the same time my absolute favourite Martha Stewart butterfly border punch that I use to cut out all the little butterflies totally jammed up - I managed to get one butterfly! I'll have another go with it tomorrow and try to rescue it :(

Did you know copics would do this?

Hi again blog friends

Just got in from work and thought I'd upload the card that I made last night - it was a last minute request for a friend of a friend and it kept me away from the laptop for most of last night.

After I used the Whiff of joy stamp for my last card I thought I would make another one from the same series.  Yes I'm  ashamed to say I bought the spring secret stamp kit last year and haven't used a single one!! - how can that be, its not like I don't like them - they're lovely, theres not one I don't like but there they were in the draewer on the A4 size sheet uncut, uninked and unloved until this week.

The one I have chosen is called Dare to dream.  I was making a 50th birthday card so thought I'd go for a grown up look - but pink!  As I was colouring the dress it just wasn't going right at all I had the shadows all wrong and it just seemed to be getting darker and darker.  I was using R85,R83 and R32 which can be a bit of a nightmare sometimes to get right anyway.  Don't know why I did it but decided to go over the areas that were still reasonably light with RV000 to try to blend it out a bit.  I was amazed when it started to act like the 0 colourless blender and take the colour out, but sort of added a paler pink as it was going - I had no idea it would do that, maybe everyone else knows this already but just thought I would pass it on as it presumably it works with the 000 in other shades and it definately rescued my colouring - I was trying so hard to get the blend right I thought I'd have a hole in the page and definatly no white where I wanted it.  Anyway I think it turned out quite well in the end, by the time I used the tuscan red prismacolour pencil it was probably a shade darker than I'd first wanted but toned perfectly with the paper.  It actually looks even better in real life.

What I did...

I made card with Kraft card and the backing card is a dark burgundy I think i got from paper mill
Stamp - Whiff of joy - Dare to dream
Disress ink - Tim Holz Aged mahogany

The border in the centre of the card - spellbinders edgeabilities classic triple scallop
Pearls - Kaisercraft
Tag and 50 - cut with sizzix dies

Anyway its gone now - my friend was delighted with it and I learned something so thats a result

My favourite colour - green

Hi blog friends

I've had a really exciting weekend - but shh its a secret so I'll have to tell you later!!
Started this card last night and got up early this morning to finish it.  My favourite colour is green, I often make pink and green cards but when I saw the challenge on Fab 'n' funky challenges this week was green, blue and white I had to give it a go.  Is not a combination I've used recently - if ever but I think I love it.

close up of the details

What I did...

Stamp image - Lili of the valley - coffee break
Flower stamp (around outer card) and sentiment stamp- Dawn Bibby woodland deer and cup cake
Distress ink (stamping and ink on card - Tim Holtz shabby shutters
Tag - cut with sizzix die
Card - Craftwork cards scalloped card
Papers - K & Co sweet nectar
Coloured with - copics and prismacolor pencils
Pearls - kaisercraft
Flower - wild orchid inside of prima
Lace and vintage seambinding ribbon  - from my stash

I didn't want to go overboard with the embellishments because the bright colours are enough by themselves withour too much clutter (thats a technical term!).  Think I need to expand my blue and green colour pallet - I can feel another birthday present coming on!

Must go off to do some ironing - I know boring - but going to the cinema tonight to see "the Artist" and if we want to go out dressed in clothes tomorrow its getting to be a must!

Little miss muffet challenges - fancy or lace

A special Sarah Kay 50th birthday card

Hi All

The card I have made today came to me as inspiration in the night and I got up early this morning to make it!  I was asked by my workmates to make a special card for us all to sign for one of our friends who turns 50 this month.  I've got a  bit of a vintage/distressed thing going on at the minute and found some lovely K & Co Margo papers that I had forgotten about, the flowered one is really beautiful and glittery - can't think why I haven't used it up already - but I'm glad I hadn't.

I love these Sarah Kay children stamps - I treat myself to 3 a couple of weeks ago and still have a little boy as yet uninked, that I'm looking forward to using and hear tell that there are some new ones out soon - just as well I have a birhtday coming up - I've got a list of crafty things that I absolutely "need".
But back to the card.  The image is coloured with copics and prismacolor pencils - I love colouring these charaters with their little jeans - they are so well drawn that they almost colour themselves. I distressed the card and papers with Tim Holtz brushed corduroy.  I used Kraft card for matting and  die cut embellishments - I have a stash from a vintage phase I went through a while ago - so at least I don't have to stock up - just as well as paper mill closed.  All the die cut embellishments are from the paper dolls cartridge fom the cricut expression machine, this is such a useful little collection of just all kinds of extras that you can incorporate into a card, all that is except for my favourite Martha Stewart butterflies - I think I'm going to start a wheres wally type of thing for people to spot them on my cards - not that it would be hard! The ribbons are from my carnmeal collection, the pearls from kaisercraft, the gorgeous little screw brads I got from Sam Pooles Creative Studios - I had them in mind for boy/men cards when I bought them but I knew they were just perfect for this little signpost.

I'm entering this card for the following challenges

The ABC challenge - I as in pairs - two screw brads and two butterflies
Paper Pretties - add texture to your card ( texture on embelishments - wood, basket)
Crafters Companion monthly challenge - anything goes
The Crafty Pad - Something begining with B - Butterflies and Basket and Bows
CES Challenge Blog - More than 2 layers

Love Grows

Hi there

I've definately got a love thing going on at the moment - love must be in the air!!

This is a cute little girl from Sarah Kay for Stampavie.  I coloured her with copics and prismacolour pencils and shaded the kraft card and white card with Tim Holtz brushed corduroy distress ink.  The papers are K and Co and the sentiment stamp comes with a Lili of the Valley stamp (see my last post for the stamp)  I cut the vine leaves from my cricut expressions machine and the two little tags with a sizzix die. the flowers are a spellbinders die - I certainly went through the die cutting machines tonight!! The pearls are from Kaiser craft, I love their sets of coloured pearls in various sizes  Finally the narrow gold ribbon I got from carnmeal cottage

Close up of the details on the card

I think I need to get away from this love thing for my next card - perhaps something cute, I have some Saturated Canary images that I 've printed and die cut that I'm just dying to colour so I might treat myself tomorrow!!

Lazy little boy : )

The card for today is made with a Lili of the Valley stamp, a lovely lazy little boy!

I coloured him with copics and prismacolor pencils.  The die cut circles are spellbinders and the leafy swirl is from my cricut expression - home decor cartridge.  The flowers are cut with an EK success retro flower punch.  The tickets are Tim Holtz and the pearls from kaisercraft.  I can't remember where the papers are from but they fit the bill for me.

Little country girl - Adele

Hi there!

I have a lovely little girl by Stampavie today - Adele enjoying fresh apples.  I probably had more problems making this card than any other, becuase I did it backwards! I coloured the image ages ago when I went to a colouring class held at Papercuts in Whitley Bay by the talented Bev Rochester.  Beause I was trying to match the colours I had used to papers instead of the other way around it took me an age to find the right thing - I thought I was saving time by using an image that was coloured - how wrong can you be. After I had finally finished it I had bigger problems photoghraphing it because the flower is so big it cast shadows all over the place!  Anyway enough moaning!

I had coloured her with copics and prismacolour pencils and shaded the spellbinders die cut with Tim Holtz distress ink, The papers are all K & Co and the flower and leaves were cut from spellbinders,  I filled the centre of the flower with a Martha Stewart large grade glitter and topped it off with a pearl to highlight.  The red pearls are all from kaisercraft, I love how you can get the different sizes and colours.  The sentiment is from craftwork cards and the gold lace from my stash.  I love the red/pink combo and these papers are just the right style for this little country girl.

Thats me for now!

I'm entering this card for the following challenges

Papertake weekly challenge - Happy highlights (highlighted flower)
Totally papercrafts - make your own flowers
Creative card crew - seeing red
Saturday challenge - food and drink (Apples)

Life's like a box of chocolates....

Hi again

Another Sarah Kay stamp today - can't believe that I haven't used this one before, I started off with a pretty pink and lemon card in mind and ended with something not quite like that, a bit more vintage looking I think.

I coloured this with promarkers, I like promarkers pinks better than copics so I tend to go between the two depending on what I want it to look like and highlighted with prismacolor pencils.  The papers are all Kim and Co and I used a Martha Stewart butterfly border punch for the butterflies and cut out the ones I wanted to use, the corners are a new Martha Stewart punch I just got- I like the pattern, it makes the card less plain without going OTT- not that theers anything wrong with OTT!  The coloured pearls are Kaisercraft - I like the assorted colours and sizes they do.  The sentiment is from craftwork cards that I coloured with Tim Holtz teadye distress ink - I also used that around some of the papers to  give a bit of definition, the lace and flowers I think were fom ebay and the leaves are a tiny papermania punch - think thats everything. This card is different to what I would normally make - not a ribbon in sight for a start! but I quite like the way it turned out, its good to experiment - a bit like Forrest Gump and the box of chocolates - you never know what you get!.

I am entering this card for the following challenges

The Dream Valley Challenge
The Everybody Art Challenge
Cupcake craft challenge

Thats it for now

See you soon

A green card

Hi again

Today I have a green card to enter in the ABC challenge - under G is for green!

I used a stampavie stamp for this card - I think she is called Bernadette, I love this stamp her clothes and hair are just perfect and she has a sexy little sticky out bottom!!  I used copics and prismacolor pencils to colour her.  The papers and little greeting tag are all from craftwork cards and the green pearls are fom Kaisercraft. I bought the flowers and vintage seam binding ribbon on ebay.
Finally the punch on the border is from Martha Stewart and the little watering can to finish off was cut on my cricut expression machine from the everyday paperdolls cartridge.

Thats all for today

See you soon
Hugs
