Reupholster Tutorial

This gal is one of my home girls……well we’re a stones throw from each other.  I’m tellin ya…….the Pacific NW has more talent than rain.

Speaking of rain, Molly from The Creative Maven decided she needed this tin bucket for an umbrella stand…….but being sensible as most people are in the PNW, she wasn’t going to pay the unGodly price they wanted and knew she could replicate it for much less.image Once she found her tin bucket, she was in business.imageShe made her design with 4 circles………brilliant.imageAnd before you know it……….she had herself an umbrella stand. She shows a full tutorial in case you want one too.image

While we’ve got the paint out…….why not create your very own “you are special” plate. She tells you exactly what products to use on her tutorial.imageThis plate turned out so good! You could make different versions and use them for wall art.image      This is brilliant!  I wish I had seen this about 4 yrs ago.  You know those balsa wood dinosaur puzzles?  How cool to paint them!  Use them to decorate your little explorer’s bedroom.imageShe’s pretty handy with a sewing machine too…..the kind of woman that makes me GREEN!  Green with envy.   She took a cheap placemat from The Dollar Store and made a cute tool belt for her little guy.  imageThis is where I need to suck up…….this is her recovering her chair.  A $15 chair she found at a local thrift store.imageI have got to be a bright teal by now.  I need to slip cover my couch Molly just in case you need more to do.  :)image    Just one of her pillows she updated her living room with.  So cute.imageTo top it off……how about some raspberry meringues?  She thought they would make the perfect dessert during our recent heat wave…….yes we actually have heat waves here…..it doesn’t rain ALL the time. image

Thank you all for your comments yesterday.  I appreciate your point of views.

Please be good little readers and go leave Molly a nice comment, or Miss Crabby Pants may rear her ugly head again.  LOL  jk.

Over the weekend I stumbled across

The Pleasure of Homemaking.  imageI was wondering how in the world had I missed this blog…..I thought I must have already featured it…….I remember featuring someone who used plates in their garden……..then I see her signature.  Manuela…….seriously….how many Manuela’s can there possibly be?  I featured a gal with that name………I remember a gal being a regular commenter with that name.  I kept searching my past features and nothing was coming up……then I found it….But the blog name was different……….Dazed and confused, I emailed her.  She verified that I wasn’t crazy……..did you all hear that?  I AM  NOT CRAZY.

She did have a blog that I featured way back when.  Then she stopped blogging and shut that blog down…….but she just couldn’t stay away, so she’s back…….with a new name……a new blog name anyway.  So glad I found her again. She’s got some great ideas.  Fun ideas.

Like painting your deck.  This is great!  image  No need to whine……..she shows a tutorial on how she did all those black and white squares.imageShe didn’t have to go far to find her inspiration for the deck.  I’m diggin that green…..with the fabrics……I just stated on my personal blog that I’m so over toile (pronounced Twall)  …….but dang…….she has me re-thinking my whole plan now.image  Remember last week when I fell in love with painting an old book and stamping on it……apparently, she got the memo way before I did.  This is such a great idea.

image Also, do you remember when I said I was a lazy crafter…..THIS is brilliant.  Coffee Filter wreath.  image She offers a tutorial so we can ALL have coffee filter wreaths.image    She dyed some red, but decided just to use white.  I’m kind of excited to try this with the natural color.imageShe says to “make a rosette” ……in case you’re a lazy crafter like me……that means you scrunch it together.image

This is cute…….Love the fork on the plate….it’s monogrammed too.

image Sorry to get all holidayish on you, but I couldn’t resist.  Look closely…….check out the candles and the eggs.image  Were you wondering where she found toile candles?  Me too!

She made them herself.  A little tissue paper, a bit of Mod Podge and you’ve got yourself some originals.  Full tutorial on her site.imageShe also used wrapping paper to do her eggs.  Is there anything you CAN’T decoupage?imageWhile were talking Easter…….cute egg tree.  Love the polka dot eggs…….Wait!  Where did she find polka dot eggs?image

Avery helped her make them……..Another Aha! Moment.imageOne more candle idea……different tissue paper, different candle……same mod podge.  So cute.image

Hurry…..go surprise her with a TON of comments.  Enjoy.

Numbers!

I hope you all are ready for some amazing ideas today!  I love those ideas that were thought up outside the box…..using something ridiculously expensive for inspiration.  Because we all know just because it cost a lot, does NOT mean it’s better or not tacky……or worth it.

The Stories of A 2 Z

Beth has a wonderful blog with my kind of ideas!  Things that make me all warm and fuzzy!   Beth lives in here……..and as you can tell, she remodeled her half…..and she’s been asked to help the new owners with the other half.imageThat is NOT a photo shopped photo.  Here place is obviously on the Left.

She’s takes us through all her decorating challenges, changes and ideas!  I loved every minute of it.

This is the 3rd numbered staircase I have seen!  I am even more motivated to somehow get one in my home.  I’d love to have it be my stairs leading to the upstairs, but I think I’ll have to settle for the ones leading to our daylight basement.  I love them.  I have to have them.imageWhile we’re talking about numbers…….can we really have too many numbers?  Because I don’t think so.  I’m still planning a little hutch re-do with some numbers…….I gotta get busy.

Put your drink down, because this next project will have you gasping!

imageI know!  I’m doing it too……I may already have some jars around this place.image She’s got a full tutorial about it and make sure to read it in case you’re like me and had the DUH moment about not using the inside lid.  DUH!image  Her porch is lovely.  A few more numbers.   I’ll have an iced tea please.  Actually I’ve been craving a Mojito.image  No numbers, but monograms.  And seriously……..this looks straight out of a Pottery Barn catalog.image Master bedroom……..Yum, that fabric is pretty yummy.  image  She’s talented at decorating cupcakes too…….Super mom made these for her little boys 6th birthday.  They also went canoeing.  See the theme?image

She shares “life in the city” stories with her readers.  Like when her trash can was stolen.  She thought long and hard about it and decided to take matters into her own hands…….image

She decided to deliver the lid.

The girl is crafty!   I think I just fell in love with her.

image She’s smart too…….she wasn’t going to lose another can to some fool.image She marked her territory.  Now I have never seen a decorated trash can before.  I would steal this too……the idea, not the can….except our little city supplies these ugly dark blue ones.  image If you’re looking to spruce up your place with original ideas, you’ll be happy as a clam visiting her blog.  Don’t forget to surprise her about being featured here.  I love that! image

Also, make sure to leave me a comment.  All comments are entered to win a Lisa Leonard necklace.  If I’m going to beg for comments, at least I’m making it worth it.  The more comments you leave in a month, the better your chances.

Mason Jar Soap Dispenser

Leave a comment and automatically be entered for my monthly drawing for a Lisa Leonard necklace!image

In my mind, I have already featured this gal like 14,000 times.  I love her site, but I always think I’ve already featured her great ideas.

DecorChick

I love decorating and I love thrifting….when they both come together, I am one happy camper!  Creating a well decorated home being innovative has so much more appeal than buying everything at Pottery Barn or Pier 1…….What talent’s in that?

This idea is genius….maybe I’m late to the party, but this is a great idea that I’ve never seen.  We all love painted pots…..

imageThose are the same pots…….imageimagethen she placed them in the window above her door.  Genius!  Yep, I’m stealing that idea.  Anyone else with me?imageHere’s another idea that I’ve only seen a couple of times.  Take one old cute mason jar……..imageGrab a pumper out of an empty bottle……make sure it’s a good one….nothing worse than one that doesn’t pump.imagePunch a hole in the lid of the jar…….she has a whole tutorial…..and you’ve got yourself the most darling soap dispenser that ever graced this Earth!image How about more cute pots?  Terracotta pots are inexpensive and make such cute decor.image

She too has jumped on the Rosette band wagon…….and I’m so glad she did.  This wreath is very cute.  Perfect for any room.image I couldn’t help but notice how perfect her bows were…..and here’s another example below with a fab chalk board.  We love our chalk boards.image     Once again………I have never seen this.  I’m a fan of painting just about anything for the sake of decorating, but a book?  YES!  A book!imageLooks good already…….imageI knew I should have bought that stamp…….image    SHUT UP!  Can you believe it?  This opens up SO many great ideas.  You could do themes for holiday’s, seasons………oh the wheels are turning!image Then take that cheese cloche you found at Good Will, fill it with anything birdy, place it on top of your newly painted book……and you have yourself one of the cutest things ever.  Pottery Barn eat your heart out.image

OK!  NOW I know I’ve featured her!  :)

Off you go to smother her with TCB reader goodness. Surprise her…….I never let my features know ahead of time.

Come back tomorrow for Get Your Craft On- We had over 250 links last week.
