Final Elementary Projects

BB has been with Mrs. Dawn in Gifted since 1st grade.  He got to bring home his Gifted binder this week, and he had a blast go through everything from the last 5 years.

He also brought home his Flamin' Hot Treehouse that he made with August.
His other final project of 5th grade was a book.  His dedication was so sweet.  It's hard to believe he's almost completely done with elementary school in less than a week.

Historic Nauvoo

We learned a lot about life in the 1840s in the Midwest.  The kiddos loved learning how to make horse shoes, bricks, barrels, rope, and candles.  Joel loved going to the homes of the apostles.
Our wagon ride took us down along the banks of the Mississippi.

One of the coolest things that happened while we were there was finding Nathaniel Ashby's home.  He's the kiddos' 4th great grandfather.  The craziest thing is that the sister missionary who was our tour guide is the one staying in the Ashby home, so she took us to the house and let us tour inside.

Fun Projects

Little Guy is loving his best life in school.  He made up a fun game and his whole class got to play it.

You can tell by his categories what he really likes.

A Winning Zoo

Little Guy worked really hard on creating his very own zoo with Mrs. Dawn in school.  He had a budget and had to pay for animals and design the layout of the zoo.  He loved it, and he got 2nd place from all of the teacher's voting.

Thanksgiving

We always go out to eat the night before Thanksgiving.  I grew up always going out for Chinese, but we haven't been able to find any decent Chinese in a long time, so we've expanded to other Asian foods. This year it was Japanese.  We enjoyed our bento boxes.

We had a lovely Thanksgiving with friends and family.  This year Joel decided to try smoking the turkey.  It turned out amazing and I think we're never going to do it a different way.  It was the tastiest turkey we've ever had.

We ate early and played games into the evening.
