We had a truly crazy experience yesterday. We traveled 650 feet below the surface to explore a salt mine. It's still an active salt mine that's over 5 miles long. We explored the museum in the area that was cleared out in the 80's. We learned all about the mining process, saw old machinery, rode on the old train tracks and took a tram down the dark trail. It was very interesting and a really cool experience.
It's definitely the first time we've seen Christmas lights so far below ground.
We finished off the experience with a trip to an Amish restaurant for lunch 10 minutes down the road. It was amazing comfort food. The fresh bread put it over the top.
