Simply Sassy Fond Farewell

This is my last post for Simply Sassy - which was inevitable.. but seriously.. the time has F-L-O-W-N!! I know they say time flies when you're having fun.. but this has gone WAY too fast!!

But let's move on to my project - it's making me a little teary. I decided to create a farewell card, you know. It's sort of suiting, right?

I used a stamp that has gone uninked for some time now.. MISSING YOU from Set 7.. which you can buy from Funky Kits. I have coloured her skin and hair using Copics and the rest of the image has been coloured using ProMarkers.

I have used patterned papers from Basic Grey Sweet Threads collection alongside some Prima Flowers and lime green seam binding from The Ribbon Girl. I added a handmade clay button and a sentiment using some Studio G Alpha stamps in Soft Suede ink which carries on inside.

"Keep in touch.. I'll miss you".. I certainly will. I'll miss working alongside such a talented and friendly bunch of ladies who all work so perfectly together as a team. The inspiration I have gained from them along the way has been mind blowing!! I will still be stopping by the Sassy blog regularly and paying all the girls visits to their personal blogs without a shadow of a doubt!!

I will continue working with these amazing stamps whenever I get the opportunity. I'm ashamed to say some in my collection still haven't been inked up!! *blush* but I hope to combat that ASAP!! Throughout the two releases and my shared spot with Carisa, I have learnt such a lot about making an image work and the versatility of rubber. Stamps can be used on so many surfaces and in so many different ways.

It has been an honour to work alongside this bunch and post my creations on such a well known blog! Thank you for this opportunity!! :)

Enough of the chat now - you get the idea. I'm sad to leave, but I've had an AHmazing time!!

Thanks for stopping by. *waves goodbye to the Sugar Addits* I'll still be around though - I promise!! Over & Out.

It's always fun to step outside of your comfort zone now and again.

It's always fun to step outside of your comfort zone now and again.. and I certainly have this time round. If you visit my blog often, you'll know that I have a thing for 'accordian' designs. It all started a few weeks ago when I attempted a mini accordian album, I was bitten by the album making bug - and I haven't really let it go since!!

For your Sassy inspiration from me this week I've decided to use up some kraft coloured tags I've had hanging around for forever and make an accordian tag project. I so need to think of a more unique name!! LOL.

I have used two stamps that I don't think I've ever inked up before *hangs head*. Both are from Set 7 the Steampunk stamps released not too long ago. Both are available from Funky Kits.

Now, onto the project..

I have used three tags in total and attached them all together with a piece of double sided paper from the MME Mabel collection - I have used papers from this collection on each tag. I have stamped each tag with a doily stamp from Waltzing Mouse in Crushed Curry, Pumpkin Pie and Sage Shadow.

The first and last tag showcase each of the stamps. I have coloured both of the images using PMs and Copics and fussy cut them both out. They have been attached to the tags using dimensional adhesive. The middle panel I have left blank, what for - I'm not sure. But I hope I will come up with something in the future.

Here is a close up of Vintage Boutique. When I was colouring her, I asked myself 'why have you left it so long to ink this beaut up?' Geee, it's the same old story! LOL. The gorgeous swirl is a piece of Make it Crafty chipboard which I have painted using some Malted Milk acylic paint from Jenni Bowlin. I have used a MS punch to create some mini flowers and folded a brown Prima flower in half and added a little WOC rose to finish it off.

And a close up of Guinevere which is on top of a more simply layout. I have used both a clay and resin doodad beside her along with a nestie behind her.

Thanks for stopping by today.

Sassy Drawers - UPDATE

Hey Sassy fans, I'm back.. to show you my finished project I shared with you in my tutorial on Thursday, which can be found HERE.

I had a LOT of fun making this - even if the main base of the whole thing was made at like 2am in the morning! LOL.

I have used some patterned paper from Kaisercraft - Chapter One collection - LOVE these papers, the colours are so fresh! My cardstock is from a huuuge pack of Core'dinations. I wanted to keep the easel card pretty plain, as the patterned paper has loads of inspirational words on that I wanted to show off - and they go perfectly with Amelia who is available HERE from Funky Kits.

Thanks for stopping by, xo Lou.

Sassy Drawers

Hey guys, I'm going to apologise now for the complete lack of finished-ness this post has within it. You'll understand what I mean when you read on..

It's my turn to give you sugar addicts another tutorial.. this time.. we're going to try out some..

SASSY DRAWERS..

Yup, you read right! ;) Here is the photo of the finished (half finished.. geee, who am I kidding?! no where NEAR finished project..) please forgive me!

Supplies for the base drawers:
2x 6x6" pieces of cardstock (I've used Core'dinations)
4x 3 1/2x4 3/4" cardstock ~ for the drawer inners
4x 6 1/4x3 1/2" cardstock or patterned paper ~ for the drawer sliders
4x 2 3/8x3 3/8" pieces of patterned paper ~ for drawer inserts

Firstly, take the four pieces of cardstock cut for the drawer inners and score at 5/8" on all four sides.
Take the pieces of patterned paper or cardstock you've cut for your drawer sliders and score at:
5/8" then fold and crease, place this score line at the edge of your score board and score at 2 1/4", again, fold and crease and place that score line at the edge of your score board and score at 5/8", finally fold and crease this and move that score line to the edge of the scoreboard and score at 2 1/4".

Cut away small triangles on the scorelines of your box inners to create tabs to fold down and glue.

Assemble all eight pieces.

Take your drawer inserts and place those inside the drawer inners, securing in place with adhesive.

Start to attach the drawer sliders down onto one of the 6x6" pieces of cardstock, as shown.

Once this has been assembled using the layout shown in the picture above, place the remaining 6x6" piece of cardstock on top securely. Next comes the easel part for decorative purposes.

For the easel card you will need:
11 1/2x 3 3/4" piece of cardstock scored at 2 7/8 and 5 3/4.

I have chosen these measurements specifically so as to leave a border around the drawer base for a more professional finish. You can decorate the front of your easel card, including the stopper, how you wish. I have chosen to use Amelia - she is available HERE from Funky Kits.

I hope I haven't missed anything too important out. It is currently 02:58 here in the UK right now and I have an early morning, so I best be hitting the hay. If you have any questions don't hesitate to ask or drop me an email. I'm here to help.

I hope you've enjoyed this tutorial, I'm so sorry I don't have a finished piece to share with you right now, but you're a smart bunch and you all know how to decorate a card. Perhaps as a treat I will try and squeeze another one of these creations in for my post on Sunday, fully finished and decorated. No promises though.

I've got my first ever craft fayre in August, so I'm trying to think outside the box with regards to 3D projects and other things aside from cards that I hope *fingers crossed* will sell well. Let me know what you think.

xo Lou.

Merry Christmas Sassy Fans

Hey there, how has your Sunday been so far?! It has been dull and miserable here all day. I'm sooo tired today, I didn't get to sleep til after 2:30am last night after I had tossed and turned. I might have mentioned I've started reading a new book - oh how I've missed reading. It's called Blood Harvest by S. J. Bolton and it's a horror/ghost (not 100% sure yet..), what else!? I love it, but boy does it make me look over my shoulder more than I should! LOL. Anywho, you may be wondering about the title of the post?!

Well, as most of you know it was the launch of the Simply Sassy Christmas Blog Hop yesterday morning, if you haven't joined in on the hop yet see this post HERE and get on your way!! Comment on all DT blogs and you will be in with a chance of winning all 6 stamps from this set!!

For my Sunday inspiration for you Sassy Fans I have used a stamp from the latest release.. Secret Santa, she is available HERE at Funky Kits along with the other 5 new Sassys.

I stepped waaay, waaaay out of my comfort zone for this card. I decided to create a 'Centre Step Card', Soo impressive but soo easy to construct. I think I need to work on how I decorate each of the panels though, as the card looks a little plain to me.

I have coloured her hair and skin using Copics and her clothes etc using PM's - you know the deal by now, right? I have used paper from Basic Grey - Eskimo Kisses collection along with some Garden Green cardstock from SU! to mat. I have used a stamp from Paper Makeup Stamps for the sentiment along the bottom strip.

To embellish I have used one of my own clay rose doodads along with some roses from WOC. The gorgeous pink twill stripe ribbon is from The Ribbon Girl. Each time I finish up a card and I look back on it, I always think, damnnn, I wish I had added a charm. I have like 5000 and I always forget to use them *hits self on forehead*

You know what I've just noticed?! This is another pink and green Christmas card I've made. Gosh. For someone who isn't massive on pink I ain't doing too bad, am I?!

Thanks for stopping by today - me thinks I will enter this into the Simply Sassy FB challenge - more than one fold! That worked out okay, heehee. Now I just gotta find an envelope this will fit into!! I feel another envelobox project coming on! LOL.

I'm off to read a little more of my book ;) then get creating a few cards from my GDT spot over at SOS! Challenges.. which finishes soon! :(

Over & Out, xo Lou.

Christmas.. in June

I'm glad you stopped by today Sassy fans.. as I have something VERY special to share with you today.. the clue is in the title! ;) Heehee.

I won't hold you in suspense any longer.. meet SECRET SANTA!! Soon to be available at Funky Kits with her other five Christmas-y friends.

Is she not the sweetest?! Look at her long locks and those stripy tights are just too cute!! I have coloured her using a mixture of PM's and Copics and fussy cut her out. The patterned paper and decorative strips are from BG - Jovial collection.

I added some Diamond Stickles to her 'fluffy' bits on her shoes and dress - why is it so difficult to take pictures of sparkly stuff?! It looks so much better IRL. The embellishments are a mixture of flowers from WOC, BG buttons and my handmade clay doodads.

So, how do you like her?! Her sweet little face is impossible to deny, isn't it? We can't wait to hear your feedback. Keep your eyes peeled throughout the week for more sneaks from the team!! I know you will LOVE what we've got for ya! ;)

5th Avenue Beauty!!

Hey Sassy fans!! I guess you're wondering where MT's post is today?! Well, I'm stepping in for her this fornight, just while she gets back on track with home life! But rest assured everything is fine.

Is this Sassy not one hot chick?! Sooo GLAMorous! She is called 5th Avenue and is available HERE from Funky Kits. The card base is Naturals Ivory from SU! and I have matted my patterned paper from MME with More Mustard cardstock, again from SU! I have machine stitched around the main panel and die cut two layers of labels four nesties to pop my image on.

I have coloured 5th Avenue using ProMarkers and fussy cut her out. Her brown eyes are soo dreamy and I love her long locks with swirls on the end!! ♥ I was a bit worried that her dress would look too much like skin, but it turned out okay.. I think.. sort of like a coral/ peachy colour.

The sentiment was made using a die and stamp set from PTI and I attached it to some stitched ribbon from SU! with linen thread. I created the bow using my Bow Easy tool - such an invaluable little thing - it turns an average bow into something special!

That's all I got for ya today fans! I hope you've had a brilliant weekend. Over and out, xo Lou.

..::Enjoy::..

Hey Sassy fans! Thanks for stopping by today guys, I have something a bit special to share with you! A birthday card I made especially for a Sassy lady.. Tracy Payne!! :) It was Tracy's birthday this past Tuesday and I just couldn't pass up the opportunity to give her a little handmade something, even if it was just a simple Birthday card.

I used one of my fave stamps from Set 7 - Boho Chic.. she is available HERE from Funky Kits. I have coloured her using PM's to coordinate with some gorgeous patterned paper from Kaisercraft. I have matted the aqua paper with some SU! Certainly Celery cardstock which I have distressed and machine stitched.

Notice me and my sewing machine, Mr Janome, had a little disagreement when I was stitching this card. Well, I was less than impressed to say the least, so that was the only layer I stitched before I lost my temper with him!! You may notice that this card looks very similar to a card I made for TPS earlier in the week, well, you'd be right. The same patterned paper pack and the same layout - I just loved it so much I had to have another go.

The panel behind Boho Chic is another slice of Certainly Celery which I have die cut with a labels fourteen nestie and embossed with a Script EF to lift the image away from the busy patterned paper. I have fussy cut the image out - but you knew that. You could just see it coming, I know.

The horizontal panel of patterned paper had hints of black, so I went along with that and punched a scalloped border on Basic Black cardstock and stitched along the side. I added a strip of SU ribbon, I couldn't tell you what colour it is!! I then added a tiny PTI tag with the word 'Enjoy' and tied it to the ribbon using twine. I think that just about covers it. As always, don't hesitate to ask me any questions!!

Be sure to check out Erica's post today too! Awesome inspiration!! :) xo Lou.

Sassy Sister

[Apologies for this post being a little photo heavy - but there were so many gorgeous things to show you!!]

So how did you lovely lot enjoy our Hop last weekend?! Wasn't it fun!? I really enjoyed reading all of your reactions to the new Steampunk stamps. It is such a grown up set and so set apart from the rest - you just knew you had to have them all as soon as you laid eyes on them, am I right? Heehee.

Well, this afternoon I have a card to show you using a gorgeous stamp from Set 6.. she's called Rapunzel and is available from Funky Kits HERE. A while ago I seen Kellie Winnell stamping with coloured ink onto Kraft cardstock and was amazed with the results - so naturally the technique was filed away somewhere in the depths of my brain for later testing. I decided the time had come to test the technique, and here are the results..

My boyfriend sprang it upon me that he "wanted" a birthday card for his sister, with the specific words 'sister' inside. Well, I had already made a card for her from me, so I had to wrack my brains all over again and come up with something totally different which I thought she would like. Out came Rapunzel, I HAD to ink her up again. After my first few failed attempts at water colouring with DIs (Elaine ;)) I had never let her see the light of day again.

I stamped her in Chestnut Roan Chalk Ink onto SU! Crumb Cake cardstock. I had tried this with Bazzill Kraft before changing my mind, I found the impurities (as much as I love them - they're the reason I love Kraft so..) in that particular cardstock took the attention away from the image. Using the Crumb Cake gives a much crisper image. I then cut her out using nesties Labels Four, one of my all time faves. I LOVE nesties!! I then inked the edges using Frayed Burlap DI to make it stand out from the patterned paper.. which is from Prima BTW.

This beautiful bronze charm and brown gingham ribbon are both from The Ribbon Girl. They were the perfect embellishments for this, what I would like to call 'sophisticated' card. I used a little brown bakers twine to attatch the charm and created the bow using my Bow Easy tool.

Here is the inside of the card - I decided to make another gatefold, incase you hadn't already realised.. LOL. I cut the letters to make up 'sister' using the TH Vintage Market alpha die. The letters are the perfect size for cards. The letters are white patterned paper from the Prima pack and they have very light blue music notes on them, oh so pretty. I wish I had taken a close up. NVM. I cut another panel of Crumb Cake cardstock using labels four and stamped a Happy Birthday sentiment from a PTI set in Crumb Cake ink.

Here is the envelobox I created for the card using The Ulimate Pro. Another Crumb Cake labels four and the recipients name in matching patterned paper.

To make the closure I simply cut a little labels four and attatched to the flap using my regular adhesive. To the free area I applied strips of Tombow Mono adhesive and left to dry over night without closing it. This way it creates a removable adhesive strip which is strong enough to keep the envelobox shut but not enough to rip the cardstock when it is opened. Genius. It took me ages to work out a way to do that! LOL! *taps self on head* hollow? Me thinks.

Well, I hope that's enough info for ya all to go along with the mountain of pictures today! Enjoy the rest of your Sunday whatever you're doing!
Oh, and as a little side note, I thought I would share another Sassy card I made for a different DT earlier this week..

This time using Pillow Talk, available HERE from Funky Kits. If you want to know more details about this card, see THIS POST.

Sassy Storage

So.. the day has arrived.. my FIRST EVER attempt at a photo tutorial. Please bare with me, I did do a trial run before I made the final project, but how well this is all going to go on the actual day.. we will have to see. LOL. I got this idea from Crafter's Companion. Sara comes up with such clever ideas, and I thought this would be the perfect thing to store those Sassy images ready to be coloured up.

I used Winking Student for this project, I gotta say, she is a cutie. I love her pose! She is available HERE from Funky Kits!

Introducing 'Mini Accordian Folder'..

Here is what you will need:

× x1 12"x12" sheet of heavy weight cardstock - I used Core'dinations
× x1 sheet of  medium weight cardstock - I used Rymans 200gsm coated cardstock
× Strong red tape and your normal adhesive
× Paper trimmer
× Score board
× x3 C6 envelopes
× Patterned paper - I used Basic Grey Basics White and Sassafras Indie Girl
× Your chosen Simply Sassy image - I used Winking Student

So, now you have gathered your supplies - let's start at the beginning, it's always a good place to start..

First, take your three envelopes and glue them shut - if you don't want to lick and stick, your normal adhesive would do fine. You then want to cut all three envelopes in half as shown..

Next.. take your medium weight cardstock and cut to 6"x4.5". This strip will form the 'accordian' part of the folder. You will need to score this strip along the 6" side at every half an inch. TOP TIP: score at every inch on one side, then flip over and score at every half inch, this way you will have scored opposite sides and this will help to make well creased mountain and valley folds.

Next, onto the front and back panels.. take your heavy weight cardstock and cut a strip 4.5" wide, continue to cut this into a strip 5.5" long and another 3.5" long.

Take the 4.5"x5.5" cardstock and score at 3.5" and 4.5" along the 5.5" side as shown..

Crease your scorelines, this will form the back panel and front flap of the accordian folder.

This is where you should be now:

Next up is adhering it all together..

Take the 'accordian' base and turn it so the two end panels are pointing up, apply some red tape (any strong adhesive will do) as shown and attach the back panel.

After you have attached the back panel, this is how the accordian base should look - apply more red tape to every other strip, this is where you will attatch the envelopes.

Now that my envelopes have been attached, this is how the folder should look. All that is left to do now is decorate the front cover, attatch it to the folder and glue the tops of the envelopes together to get the 'accordian' effect when you open it out.

I have my supplies out ready to decorate my front cover. I used Winking Student as well as some papers from Sassafras Indie Girl collection, I have stitched strips and added a sentiment on Kraft cardstock. Perfect.

Add a strip of red tape to the last strip on the accordian folder, apply some regular adhesive on the back of the front panel, leaving about an inch at the top to tuck the flap in, and adhere all to the very front envelope. Stand the folder up and ensure all envelopes match up. Apply a strip of regular adhesive along the edge of each envelope to attach them to each other - this will create the 'accordian' effect when you open the folder.

This is the final result.. each section (6 in total) can be used to house different Sassy images. Keep them safe ready for colouring, or you could have a few pockets dedicated to coloured images ready to use on projects if that's how you roll! :)

So there you have it. I do hope you give it a go and test drive the tutorial for me! If you have any questions, or if the photos aren't clear enough please let me know and I'll do what I can to help!

I'll admit - that wasn't as scary as I thought! Yipee. Keep your eyes peeled for another Sassy tutorial I have coming up very soon! xo Lou.
