Simply Summer

Hi Sugar fans, I'm back with a little Sunday inspiration! Feels like my mojo has been missing these past few weeks (maybe off to hotter climes ;o)) but I'm quite happy with this card :D! It's a "Goodbye to Summer" card, as the nights are getting colder, the days shorter and the sun...well, the less said about that the better!

I received the new set the other day and boy oh boy are you in for a treat! Start saving them pennies ladies (and gents ;o)) because you're sure to want them all!

Anyway, back to my card for today, I hadn't really used this sweetie properly yet so here she is, butterflies and all. No sentiment because I couldn't find the stamp I wanted (something about flutterin' by just to say hi ;o)), which is my cue to go tidy up my craft room I suppose... I chose to colour her in shades of brown because I don't have Copics to match the blue of the paper. You make do don't you, and this works as well ;o)

Card Ingredients:

Stamp:
Simply Sassy "Butterflies and Pigtails
Paper: Bazzill Basics cardstock kraft, vanilla; Prima Marketing paper "Botanical Garden"
Embellishments: adhesive pearls; Rayher butterflies
Tools: Spellbinders Nestabilities Classic Circle Large; Martha Stewart border punch; My Favorite Things Flower Trio; Heidi Swapp edge distresser
Copics:
E00, E51, E93, E21 (skin)
Y28, E53, E50 (hair)
E44, E43, E42, E41 (browns)

That's all from me for this week, hope you have a lovely day, thanks for stopping by!

Hugs,
Erica

Tuesday spotlight..

This Tuesday we have a sweet girl with an amazing talent for coloring with us.
meet

I asked her to make something for the Spotlight
and by that I'm thinking of one card or something..
So Bridget has really  spoiled us this time
Look at her gorgeous Sassy projects!!

Butterflies and Pigtails ,5th Avenue

*Start by telling us a little about you:
Hello, My name is Bridget, and I live in the wonderfully picturesque county of Cornwall, with my Patient Husband, our Malamute Buzz, and our two cats Nala and Jasmine, I have lived here all my life and I can't see myself living anywhere else, apart from maybe Scotland, the land of The House of Sugar.

*When did you start card making and what made you start?
I have always had an interest in art, but I have never been able to draw well enough to share with other people, so when I came across the craft channels on TV, and I saw the beautiful things you can make, it inspired me to have a go at making cards, at first, using Rubber Stamps, and then onto the many other forms of crafting, I then progressed onto blogging, about 18 months ago, and my eye's were opened even wider, by the stunning creations that I came across.

*What is your preferred coloring medium?
Everything....... lol, well, it depends on my mood, but I do go through phases, I might use Polychromes for a while, or Promarkers, but my favourite of favourites at the moment are copics, in particular sketch markers, I just love the range of colours you get, and the professional finish they give you, it makes you feel like you've accomplished something when you have finished your project,
I have just gotten hold of a set of Prismacolour pencils, I haven't done much with them yet, its a work in progress, but I do love the finish they give you when using them on Kraft card, so more to follow on that, lol...

*What is your fav Simply Sassy stamp?
Well how can I answer this question, I love them all, and I have all apart from 3 of them, but having thought long and hard about it,
I am going to have to say Amelia and all of the new Christmas stamps, lol, this is the most difficult question of all, lol.

*How did you notice the Simply Sassy stamps the first time?
I first noticed the Simply Sassy Stamps, when Karen introduced us to Krista's artwork on the Sugar Nellie blog and I have been hooked ever since.

*What is your favourite style (card making)?

I don't think I've really got a favourite style, I do like clean and simple, but I also like to see lots of embellishments, so I don't really think I have a specific style, I like to change things a lot so not to get bored, I like shabby chic, though I can never seem to produce a very good end product.

*And what would you love to see more of at the Simply Sassy blog?
This is another hard question to answer, because it's difficult to improve on perfection, because I think you girls already do a fantastic job, what with all the fun blog hops, brilliant tutorials and wonderfully inspirational cards, so I had a really good think about what I would like to see added and that would be a Simply Sassy Challenge blog.

Here are some other gorgeous Sassy projects I found at Bridget's blog

Tuesaday Spotlight

This week we have a biiiiiiiig time Simply Sassy/Sugar Nellie fan in our spotlight.
Krista has even drawn her as a Sassy girl for her blog

And here is the sweet card she made for us

Using Amelia

*Start by telling us a little about you:
I am married with two gorgeous little girls who love nothing more than to fiddle with my craft stash if I let them!! We also have a cat who likes to play with my ribbon and get in the way when I am crafting, and we have just gained a kitten, who will no doubt also like messing around and getting in the way!

*When did you start card making and what made you start?
I started out scrapbooking in 2005 after our older daughter was born and I needed something to do other than change nappies! I made a scrapbook of our wedding and honeymoon, and then started a baby book for Ellie. One of my friends suggested making cards rather than buying them, and after some encouragement I made Christmas cards for the family that year. Then I found the DoCrafts forum and someone on there introduced me to a lovely pair of stamps, Maggie and Hamish .. and I was hooked on the HOS!

*What is your preferred coloring medium?
I haven't got a favourite, depends very much on my mood and the image I am colouring. I use pens (promarkers and copics), Distress inks and prismas. I tend to use my pens and prismas more on the Simply Sassy range, than the distress inks, although I use my inks to grunge the images up a bit!

*What is your fav Simply Sassy stamp?
Ohhh I haven't got a favourite, which ever is in my hand is my favourite, I love them all!!! I do have a soft spot for Amelia, Hippy Chick and Love a Latte though (but don't tell the rest of them, they might sulk!!).

*How did you notice the Simply Sassy stamps the first time?
On the Sugar Nellie blog and I started following the Simply Sassy blog before it got going.

*What is your favourite style (card making)?
Again its really dependent on my mood ... I love CAS cards, but also all things Tim Holtz so the vintage/grungey look is a regular feature on my cards!

*And what would you love to see more of at the Simply Sassy blog?
That's a hard one ... its fantastic as it is, and I check out every post, the DT samples are amazing.

Here is some of the beautiful cards I found at Cathy's blog
but do go over there as i couldn't fit them all into one blog post..

Paper Bag Mini Album Tutorial!

Hi Simply Sassy Fans!

I'm sorry this tutorial is late! I am stepping in for Autumn today and it took longer than I thought to put the video together - it's the editing that gets me every time.

Today I want to share with you are little mini album I'm in the middle of creating for my daughter. She is just ending her kindergarten year and I started this and am now working toward finishing it. Most likely will be my little summer project!

What You'll Need:
Small Paper Bags *lunch bag size*
Pattern Paper & Your favorite Simply Sassy Stamp to decorate
Strong Adhesive *I used Helmar Acid Free & Craft Glue*

And here is the video...I'm still not completely comfortable talking in front of the camera yet! LOL I feel silly talking to an empty room....and I could NOT figure out how to add music to the parts I sped up so I apologize for the silence but it really helped to keep the video under 7 minutes. :D I hope you like!

Supplies:
Paper: October Afternoon Report Card Collection
Adhesive: Helmar Acid Free Glue, Helmar Craft Glue & Helmar 450 Quick Dry

Tuesday Spotlight

Hiya Sassy Fans,

As you Maria is MIA for the next few weeks, waving hi to you Maria and wishing you well, so I'm looking after the spotlights for the next 3 weeks and I'd like to introduce you to one of my fellow teamies Vicky Pass.  Vicky is an avid Sugar Nellie fan and just look what she has made especially for us,  Wowzers:-

And here's a little bit about Vicky:-

Start by telling us a little about you:
I'm Vicky & I've been married to Craig since I was 16 & we are the proud owners of 3 children, 2 blue ones & 1 pink one. The boys are 20 & 15 & my daughter is nearly 19 & suffers with severe cerebral palsy so requires 24 hour care so thats my full time job lol. My eldest also has a baby on the way so we are to be grandparents at the end of the year which we are soooo excited about.

When did you start card making and what made you start?
I started card making last April 2010 I had never been into crafts at all but there was a lot going on in the family & I had also lost my dad so needed something to occupy me. It was March & I came across a blog.........I had no idea what promarkers were, Magnolia I thought was just a colour & I thought Sugar Nellie was a sweetie or choccy lol. I brought some promarkers beginning of April a couple of Sugar Nellie stamps & some others & that was it........hook, line & sinker. I cant believe a year has passed already.......my hubby is also happy as it means I dont want to keep redecorating now lol.

What is your preferred coloring medium?
I'm addicted to Copics altho I spent most of my first year using promarkers but I do prefer Copics now. Altho I also like to use prisma pencils & distress inks......I like to be able to use any of the mediums, its incase I ever get bored lol.

What is your fav Simply Sassy stamp?
WOW......thats a toughie, how do I choose one? I will say Fairytale cus she was the 1st one I fell in love with & I'm still in love with her.......

How did you notice the Simply Sassy stamps the first time?
On the Sugar Nellie blog, it was one of the first blogs I ever followed.....Sugar Nellie was my first ever stamp... I brought them on day of release & have done ever since lol.

What is your favourite style (card making)?
I really dont have a style I prefer it that way I make what I'm in the mood to make & I like to think outside the box & try new things all the time......I dont like to get stuck in a comfort zone lol. My brain tends to go into overdrive all the time lol.

And what would you love to see more of at the Simply Sassy blog?
To be honest I think its fab the way it is & now I think its great you adding tutorials on making things, I love to see what else can be made with card & paper.
So if its not broke dont fix it girls lol.........

And after having a nose through Vicky's blog here are some of her fabulous Simply Sassy's:-

Be sure to leave some Sassy Love and Thank you Vicky for allowing us to Spotlight you

purple chic(k)

Happy friday all those sassy fans out there! It´s Kathrin here and I am having two cards to share with you today. With those problems Blogger had last week and some posts disappearing I wasn´t able to show you my inspiration card last week... So let´s start!

On the first card I used

Boho Chic

from the latest release of set # 7.
(And everytime I type her name I go with chick instead of chic - but wouldn´t that match great too? LOL)

I hardly ever use purple when I craft but somehow I was in a totally purple mood when I made this card and so it is purple all over. Don´t you agree that she looks beautiful in her white and purple clothes?
I love this image because it´s so versatile - you can make her look very elegant by using muted colors but I am sure if you use some bright colors she will also be great on a 70ies card.

I wasn´t sure which saying to use for my card and came across the "truly amazing" stamp when I went through my stash. So I combined this with another stamp that I inked up only the "you are" part.

For the coloring I went with these markers:

***

And here´s the card I wanted to show you last week:

I was inspired by a few butterflies that fluttered around in our garden and were telling me that summer will be here soon. It was so much fun to watch them - well at least until my cats came realized them too...

So I picked

Butterflies and Pigtails

and made a vintage summer card. I love those brownish pink colors and had some papers in my stash that did not only match my coloring but also had those little blossoms printed on - exactly what I needed for a little extra summer-ish touch.
The saying is by Stampin´Up and I think just this one word is perfect with this image - sometimes you don´t need to make many words to express your feelings.

I used these colors to color the image in:

I am wishing all of you a very sunny and happy weekend!

Tuesday Spotlight on

This Tuesday we have a pleasure to spotlight Sassy fan
And she has got a gorgeous card for us made wit the sweet
I just love the beautiful colors and pretty coloring.

Start by telling us a little about yourself:
I am a Scot living in North London, married to my soul mate, have two grown-up kids and two wonderful young cats. I suffer from Degenerative Disc Disease in my neck and have had recent major surgery to try to delay the degeneration process. I am also an Ovarian Cancer survivor and a strong believer that ALL women need to be aware of the symptoms of this horrid disease. Details on my blog under Ovacome website. I enjoy crafting, walking, gardening, reading, listening to music and the theatre - especially singalong musicals where I can get up and dance along too!

When did you start card making and what made you start?
I have only been card making for about three years so am relatively new to this addictive craft! I only came across it by chance - I was off work ill with a long-term degenerative condition and was channel-hopping, discovered Create & Craft and was addicted. I no longer follow the channel but cannot get thru a day without a crafting fix and some blogging.

What is your preferred Colouring medium?
Easily seen to be my Promarkers but, with the help of the fabulous Kerrie (Pickle), I am hoping to get into Prisma pencils very soon. I think several Simply Sassy stamps would love to be coloured by these pencils.

What is your favourite Simply Sassy stamp?
I simply cannot answer this question as they are all stunning - I have to say tho that I am LOVING the look of Set 7 - slightly more grown up look about them so more suited to 'the older woman'! Lots of the SS stamps remind me of when I was in my late teens and dressed in those long hippy skirts that collected all the dust from the pavements!

How did you first notice the Simply Sassy stamps for the first time?
I am a keen follower of Funky Kits and Sugar Nellie and just happened upon them one day I was browsing there.........my home town is actually where Funkykits are located so the added bonus is that when I go home soon, I will be able to visit the HOS and stock up on them all!!

 What is your favourite style?
I don't think I have a favourite style as I like to try new things from time to time, so I tend to make the cards to fit in with the stamps/images that I use. These Simply Sassy stamps are ideal for 'playing' with and look perfect on a 'busy' card or a Clean and Simple card.

What would you like to see more of on the Simply Sassy blog?
Well....I think there is a Simply Sassy Challenge on a certain social network site that I refuse to visit so I would love to see a regular challenge here so that all us Simply Sassy followers could play away the hours getting ideas from one another because isn't that what crafting is all about?

I would just like to add a MASSIVE thank you to Maria and the girls for letting me be in the spotlight today - it is a huge pleasure for me and a great honour too!

Sheila:)X

Before I go I just want to hijack the end of this blogpost to say

To Congratulate every Norwegian!!

And I usually use my National Costume that looks like this where I come from. But not this year as I need to get something fixed on it :(
So today the kids gets as much Ice-cream as they want and hopefully won't bee to high on sugar after..
(You know the best Sugar to be high on is Sugar Nellie stamps..)
And to clarify It was not me on the pictured I linked to in the National Costume..
Happy 17th of May Norway!!

Butterflies & pigtails

Oh I love this girl :) But then I think I say that about all of them..
Butterflies & pigtails and you can find her here at Funky Kits.
She's such a cutie , look at those dimple's..
And she's so easy to color!
I colored her with copic's and the paper's are from a Norwegian girl Poppy Design,
Just the perfect paper for this image.
Her button's I used liquid pearls on and the flower is a Gardenia flower.

Hope you've had a wonderful week an that your weekend is full of lovely weather.
(I'm certainly hoping for sun tomorrow as we're having a birthday party for my little sweetie
who will be 2 next Thursday , so cross my fingers for nice weather so the bigger kids can play outside :-D )

Tuesday Spotlight on..

The sweet lady I'm spotlighting today Is one I found though looking for Simply Sassy's and wow what beautiful cards she makes!
Spotlighting for you today
Go visit her, her blog is so sweet and yellow and I always get in such a good mood going in there :)
Here cards are so lovely and Teresa made such a gorgeous Sassy card for us

Teresa has used one of the new images from set 6 Butterflies & pigtails

Of course she also had to answer our Q&A

*Start by telling us a little about you:

I live in Essex in the UK, happily married to my lovely hubby Mark, with an 18 year old son, Robin. I work full time as a Project manager, so try and fit in my crafting around work, but life tends to get in the way. Fortunately, I have a very understanding husband who encourages me with all my crafting, but I do feel guilty if the housework gets neglected!

*When did you start card making and what made you start?

I’ve always been quite arty and crafty, ever since I was a little girl. I started making cards for family and friends about 4 or 5 years ago after seeing craft demos on a famous shopping channel. I bought a kit of papers and embellishments and haven’t looked back since! I used to just use my own drawings back then and not many embellishments. I still have a few of the cards, but they do look a bit sparse now!

*What is your preferred coloring medium?

It has to be copics on my cards and I am forever experimenting and trying new things with them. I love the way they blend perfectly and you can introduce depth and highlights. I would also like to use more watercolours and pencils on my cards where I can, as that is what I used before I discovered lovely copics.

*What is your fav Simply Sassy stamp?

It is so difficult to choose a fave…but if I had to, I do like “Hippy Chick” a lot. There is so much you can do with her and I think she could look so very different every time you colour her, I must colour her again soon!

*How did you notice the Simply Sassy stamps the first time?

I saw them on other people’s blogs, then on the Funky Kits site.I love their quirkiness and uniqueness. I don’t think there is anything quite like them for their style.

*What is your favourite style (card making)?

I don’t think I have found it yet as I think it’s constantly changing. I wish I could stick to one style but I just can’t! I like to do distressing/vintage, but also bright and cheerful and then ‘Clean and simple’ - actually no, I can’t do ‘Clean and Simple’ very well at all! I always have to fiddle and add embellishments. I am a bit of a perfectionist too and a card can take me a long time, probably too long!

*And what would you love to see more of at the Simply Sassy blog?

I love the Simply Sassy blog just as it is and it’s one of the blogs that I visit all the time. I really like the way it constantly showcases other’s cards and shows new techniques.

Teresa has some lovely cards over at her blog and here are some of her sweet Sassy cards
