Make a wish

Hi, ladies! First of all, thank you very much for your comments on the Spotlight post, here but also on my blog!

Starting with this week, every Monday evening   I hope to see you here, because I'll have something to share, a card or other project, using one of the lovely Simply Sassy stamps. Today meet ''Delicious'', which can be found here ; she has been coloured with Derwent Coloursoft pencils.

The papers come from a Kaiser Craft paper pad -''Nan's Favourites Collection''- and the embellishments are all made using some Die-namics from ''My Favorite Things'' and my followers know that I'm really addicted to them. I don't have actually too much to say about the card, I can only hope that you like it.

Have a nice Monday evening, wherever you are and see you next week.
Hugs, Alina

Tuesday Spotlight

Today I want to introduce you to another Sassy fan and Sugar Bowl Sweetie

Here is the gorgeous card she made for us

Using Spread your wings

When did you start card making, and what made you start?
This is kind of a funny story...I was invited to a Stampin' Up party in 1996 and, after a couple of glasses of wine, I purchased a set of stamps, black ink, and some little note cards. Oh...I almost forgot, I got some chalks too. I made holiday cards that year...but let me tell ya, they weren't at all fancy!! No fancy cutting, no ribbons or bows, no embellies of any kind! But I thought they were stunning!! LOL! Then, fast forward a few years. I had a delightful girlfriend who would come visit me and bring all of HER stamps and inks and papers and fancy scissors. So, my cardmaking became a little more sohphisticated...and, then fast forward again, this time to 2009, when I discovered the world of blogging and online shopping for stamps and craft supplies! And the rest, as they say, is history!!

What is your preferred color medium?
I love my Copic sketch markers. There's a bit of a learning curve with them...and I'm still learning, actually...but I just love the look of images colored with Copics! I enjoy using Distress Inks too...images colored with DIs are always so gorgeous...but my Copics are much more convenient. I have recently started playing with Prismacolor pencils...and combining them with my Copics. I am nowhere near mastering colored pencils...but will keep practicing because I find it just so relaxing to color with pencils! I love 'em all...but Copics are my faves!

What is your fave Simply Sassy stamp?
I have to tell you something funny...I just read this question out loud and my darlin' husband said, "that's a tough question to answer!" LOL! He's right, tho...it is a tough one...let me think...well, I remember wayyyyyy back when Karen, over at Sugar Nellie, introduced Krista Smith (the Mama of these Sassy little cuties) and showed us some of Krista's artwork. Karen asked for people to choose their top 3 faves because she was going to have them made into rubber stamps...YAY Well, I wasted no time choosing "My Friend Kitty" (eventhough cats make me sneeeeze!), "Pillow Talk" (not the original name of this cutie..heehee), and "Artistic Goddess". I love 'em all...but I think my all time fave has to be "Artististic Goddess"...because she came from the very first batch of Simply Sassy images...and because I aspire to be an artistic goddess!

How did you notice Simply Sassy stamps for the first time?
I guess I already answered this question. Although I will tell you that I am the very, VERY first follower of the Simply Sassy Blog!! I signed up as a follower and then had to wait what seemed like forever for the blog to be available. I'm not sure how that happened...but, yep, I'm number ONE!! LOL!

What is your favorite style of cardmaking?
Hmmm...well, that depends on my mood. Sometimes I like clean and simple (although I'm not very good at keeping cards C&S...since embellies just "happen" to find their way onto my cards. LOL!). I love all things "girly" and very much enjoy using lots of flowers and pearls!! Lately, I have been playing around with Vintage and Shabby Chic. I generally end up with crackle paint and DIs all over my hands and worktable...but I quite enjoy the effect!! I'll let you in on a secret...all of my Simply Sassies have green eyes! Why? Because mine are green, of course! hehehehe!!

What would you love to see more of at Simply Sassy blog?
I have to say that I can't think of a single thing that I'd like to see that isn't already there! You ladies ROCK!! I love the tutorials and different projects. I get so many great ideas when I visit. Just keep doing more of the same and I'll be in heaven!!

Thank you Pat for answering our Q&A
Here are some more Sweet and Sassy cards I found over at Pat's blog,

Tuesday Spotlight

Hiya Sassy Fans,

As you Maria is MIA for the next few weeks, waving hi to you Maria and wishing you well, so I'm looking after the spotlights for the next 3 weeks and I'd like to introduce you to one of my fellow teamies Vicky Pass.  Vicky is an avid Sugar Nellie fan and just look what she has made especially for us,  Wowzers:-

And here's a little bit about Vicky:-

Start by telling us a little about you:
I'm Vicky & I've been married to Craig since I was 16 & we are the proud owners of 3 children, 2 blue ones & 1 pink one. The boys are 20 & 15 & my daughter is nearly 19 & suffers with severe cerebral palsy so requires 24 hour care so thats my full time job lol. My eldest also has a baby on the way so we are to be grandparents at the end of the year which we are soooo excited about.

When did you start card making and what made you start?
I started card making last April 2010 I had never been into crafts at all but there was a lot going on in the family & I had also lost my dad so needed something to occupy me. It was March & I came across a blog.........I had no idea what promarkers were, Magnolia I thought was just a colour & I thought Sugar Nellie was a sweetie or choccy lol. I brought some promarkers beginning of April a couple of Sugar Nellie stamps & some others & that was it........hook, line & sinker. I cant believe a year has passed already.......my hubby is also happy as it means I dont want to keep redecorating now lol.

What is your preferred coloring medium?
I'm addicted to Copics altho I spent most of my first year using promarkers but I do prefer Copics now. Altho I also like to use prisma pencils & distress inks......I like to be able to use any of the mediums, its incase I ever get bored lol.

What is your fav Simply Sassy stamp?
WOW......thats a toughie, how do I choose one? I will say Fairytale cus she was the 1st one I fell in love with & I'm still in love with her.......

How did you notice the Simply Sassy stamps the first time?
On the Sugar Nellie blog, it was one of the first blogs I ever followed.....Sugar Nellie was my first ever stamp... I brought them on day of release & have done ever since lol.

What is your favourite style (card making)?
I really dont have a style I prefer it that way I make what I'm in the mood to make & I like to think outside the box & try new things all the time......I dont like to get stuck in a comfort zone lol. My brain tends to go into overdrive all the time lol.

And what would you love to see more of at the Simply Sassy blog?
To be honest I think its fab the way it is & now I think its great you adding tutorials on making things, I love to see what else can be made with card & paper.
So if its not broke dont fix it girls lol.........

And after having a nose through Vicky's blog here are some of her fabulous Simply Sassy's:-

Be sure to leave some Sassy Love and Thank you Vicky for allowing us to Spotlight you

Tuesday Spotlight on..

This week we have the pleasure of having Sugar Bowl Sweetie
in the Spotlight..
Marlene have lots of gorgeous Simply Sassy cards in her blog and this is what she made for us
Gorgeous party invites using Bedtime Snuggles

*Start by telling us a little about you:
OK, this is the bit I'm not very good at.. but here goes
I'm from Holland originally, traveled the world in my late teens and met my
English hubby whilst working in Spain.
Settled in England, got married, have 3 gorgeous children and we run a Garden Centre in the Midlands.

*When did you start card making and what made you start?
Ever since I can remember I have been creative one way or another.. but when our kids were small I started
getting into scrapping the mountain of pictures I have of them, my love for paper craft was born!
I think the transition into cardmaking from scrapbooking is almost natural as to me cards are like small
scrapbook pages. So about 7 years ago I got into cardmaking on a bigger scale.. this really took off when I
discovered blogging just over 3 years ago now.

*What is your preferred coloring medium?
I'm always switching and changing as I love all sorts of mediums,
but at the moment I am using my Copics for all my colouring.

*What is your fav Simply Sassy stamp?
I could not possibly choose my favorite Sassy.. every time a new set comes out I have a new favorite!
But I still got a soft spot for 'Party Frills' She is just too cute!

*How did you notice the Simply Sassy stamps the first time?
As a past DT for Sugar Nellie I will always keep up with all their news.
I am lucky enough to have met Karen and have special memories of the CHA trip I was invited to a couple of years ago
Karen has got a real 'eye' for new sweetness that the Sugar Nellie fans would like to see in rubber,
and proved it again when the Sassy creations of Krista were launched.

*What is your favorite style (card making)?
I love the distressed and vintage style of card making, but after having tried some SAS I do like to change it up from time to time.

*And what would you love to see more of at the Simply Sassy blog?
I'm always looking for different techniques, card shapes and just general 'out of the box' thinking
But the Simply Sassy blog is already providing those things.. so all I can say is
'I would like to see more of the same' :D

It's always such a treat visiting Marlene's blog and here are some of her Sassy treat's. Go visit her and I PROMISE you will find more :)

Using Delicious

Simply Never-Ending :D

Hi Sassy girls, for today's tute I'm bringing you a never-ending recipe card! I printed some cupcake recipes I found on the Internet, used the amazingly adorable and yummalicious "Delicious" stamp, available from Funky Kits HERE, some equally yummy papers and here's how you can make it:

First get your supplies together! I used:

- 1 Sheet Bazzill Basics cardstock white
- My Mind's Eye paper pad "Stella and Rose: Gertie"
- Sugar Nellie Simply Sassy stamp "Delicious"
- Stamping Bella sentiment
- Spellbinders Nestabilities Labels Fourteen
- BoBunny flowers
- Kars adhesive pearls
- A printer and some paper, I use FastPrint 200 gr.
- Recipes from http://www.cupcakerecipes.com/

Right, all set? Here we go:

Cut four strips of 16 x 8 cm (6.3 x 3.1") cardstock and score at both ends as indicated at 4 cm (1.6").

Place two strips on the table as shown in this picture, put double-sided tape on the corners (only the corners, otherwise the card won't fold!).

Take one of the remaining strips and place it on the other two horizontally, make sure all sides and scorelines match up, then stick it down. Do the same with the other strip and the card should look like this:

You should now be able to do this with it (I decorated it first so you can really see the different folds)

Front (now take the flaps and fold open to left and right)

Then this is what you see. Turn the card 90 degrees to the left, take the two flaps and fold to left and right.

Then this becomes visible. Turn another 90 degrees and fold the flaps again and you see the back:

Back

As there aren't an awful lot of possibilities to decorate a never-ending card, what with all the folding, I made a wrap for it. It's 8 cm (3.1") wide to cover the square panels on the front and a little over 16 cm (6.3") long on both sides. Decorate as desired, slip over the card and you're done!

Meet my "assistant" Kyra, isn't she cute? As soon as she hears the clicking of the camera she comes over to "pose"...who can resist such a beautiful face eh ;o)!

I hope you have fun with this tutorial, if you have any questions please leave me a comment and I'll do my best to help!

Hugs,
Erica

Cupcakes anyone?

Welcome over here at Sugar Nellie´s Simply Sassy Blog and my little friday inspiration post.

I finally wanted to use

Delicious

since this cute little chef is the only one of the newest release that I haven´t used yet. So I decided she deserved something more special than a normal square card. When I was thinking about what to make I was enjoying a yummy cupcake and realized that she would be the perfect image to be put on a recipe card. And I also got inspired to make the card a cupcake shape.

It´s made quite similar to the famous flower pot cards, just in a cupcake shape. You can pull out the cupcake and write the recipe (or any other text) on the bottom:

I hand drew the cupcake, cut out its different parts and made a slightly bigger shape of the whole cupcake where I was able to sew the "cupcake wrapper" on, leaving it open at the top. I measured how much space there was between the sewn edges and made another slightly smaller cupcake bottom, that I glued to the cupcake top. The image is only attached to the cupcake bottom so the "card" can be pulled out.

I haven´t written anything on it yet since I plan to use it for the recipe of the cupcake I was eating before making this - and I need to get this one from a friend first... (so yes, I didn´t make that yummy thing on my own LOL).

To color the image I used these Copic markers:

Pattern papers are by Magnolia, text by Studio G.

And I am also proud to make an exciting announcement today.
Next weekend, april 1st - 3rd, we are going to have a blog hop for you. No new release, just something fun to share some special Simply Sassy Creations with you. I know you are going to love it and hope that lots of you will join us! So, mark your calendars!
And if you want to - feel free to grab the blog hop badge and share it on your blog.

Simply Delicious!

Good afternoon Sassy friends!  I thought I would use Delicious, from release 5, on my card today.

I just love her chef's hat and those tights with the tiny little hearts.  I colored Delicious with copics and colored pencils and I added some Glamour Dust because I love to have sparkle on my cards. I added some candy dots in the corners.  I used Lillian's sketch from over at The Sugar Bowl Challenge.  I didn't add a lot of embellies to my card as the optional theme over at The Sugar Bowl is ... clean and simple. There's not much time left to play in this challenge but there will be a new one posted tomorrow so be sure to check for it.

If you haven't seen Autumn's post from earlier today, please scroll down so you can check it out.  And, remember to stop by tomorrow as I'll have a little tutorial to share with you.

Thanks for stopping by for a visit.  I hope you have a wonderful evening.

Hugs,
Anita

Stamp:  Simply Sassy Delicious
Paper:  Doodlebug Design, Bazzill
Other:  Copics, Caran D'Ache and Prismacolor pencils, Gamsol, Glaze pen, Glamour Dust, Martha Stewart punch, Pebbles candy dots, Swiss dots embossing folder

Sweet and Simple...

Hey Sassy Fans! Autumn here with your first inspiration post for today. For todays card I followed the current sketch and theme of CAS at the Sugar Bowl. Here's what I've come up with...

I actually started using Sammy first, but than I thought it would be really fun to do this 'Delicious' baker in pink and black. The only Dp I used is from a DCWV cardstock stack, the rest is just black and silver cardstock.

Here's a close-up of this little cutie, Oh' I love her. I do a bit of baking myself so I quite enjoyed coloring her.

Colors are:

Black, C9,7,5,3
Rv02,00,000
Gray C3,1, & blender

Well, I guess that's about it, not a lot to go over today. The thing that took the most time was making those curling ribbons. To curl the ribbon I got it wet, wrapped it around a dowel rod(sticking both ends with a pin) and baked it in the oven at 350 until dry. In the end that took quite some time, so if you try it out maybe turn the temp up a bit.

Thanks for stopping by, make sure to come back and see what Anita has for you later today.

Delicious Sneek Peek

Afternoon Simply Sassy Fans,

Hope you've all had a good weekend and enjoyed the first two peeks by Maria and Erica. I know I'm a little later than usual but I have a good excuse, honest. I made my project in readiness but after seeing Erica's posting yesterday realised we had used the same image and I know you guys are eager to see the sneek peeks so as not to disappoint I started a new project yesterday afternoon, but being the eve of my daughter's birthday my day was interrupted several times by family popping in so I didn't finish it in time and have been working this morning after the opening of the birthday cards/pressies to get it finished. Then I've gone to take the photo's and my battery is flat! I feel as though everything is against me meeting this post. So without further ado let me finally introduce you to DELICIOUS which will be available from Funky Kits soon.

I have again used my Go Kreate Dies to creat the base of the card

Here's a close up of the Apron.  I have used my sewing machine to stitch the pocket on, cut the utensils out using silver mirri card and my quickutz tool. The little cupcake is a Papermania stamp and decorated with perfect pearls for the icing and some flower soft and diamond dust for a bit of sparkle.

Here's delicious. I have used Glossy Accents on her shoes, buttons and the little heart on her hat as well as the word SWEET so it is shiny and like epoxy buttons but doesn't photograph well.  I may try again when my camera regains full battery as I was trying to be quick before it goes on me again.

Ickle little cupcakes, again decorated with perfect pearls, diamond dust and stardust stickles.

Here's the copic's I used.

Materials Used:-
Coloured with copics
Papers from Bearly Mine Designs and Nitwits
Image from Funky Kits HERE
Seam binding from The Ribbon Girl
Utensils in the pockets are Quickutz Dies
Cupcake stamps are Papermania
Perfect Pearls, Stardust Stickles, Diamond Dust

We have a blog hop on Saturday at 12:00 Noon GMT so be sure to check back for all the fun and to view all the new Simply Sassy Stamps.

Have a good day, I'm off to get dresed.
